intro thread cuz im new here

hey all, im new here, and just wanna say hi, and ask a couple of questions.
-first what is mfing?
-what is "vanilla" diablo
-is atma a hack??
-how do i do tcp ip games??
-if u can answer the last one. do u wanna do any tcp ip games??

well thats all the ?s i have right now. if i think of anymore ill let u know

Hi! welcome!
MFing is magic finding. wearing more items with magic find% means more uniques, set, rares and magical items drop, thus more likely to get those uber items.
vanilla is the standard, non-modded diablo, or LOD.
ATMA is not a hack, even though it can be abused. Since it is possible to mule items over using the game (rather difficult) it basically just makes it easier. It is fine to use ATMA to mule items, make stashes and use a drop calculator.
Do you mean host? to join a game, you need someone IP address, then paste it into the join IP game box. to host, you need to find your IP, and make sure your firewall allows gaming. i dont host, so ask someone else about it.

o yeah, got another ?. how do u guys trade if ur all single player? tcp ip games??
cuz id like to get in on that
 
Welcome to the SPF! Trading occurs in our trading thread that is stickied at the top. You can trade in MP games, too.

Perhaps you should take a look at all the stickies. They should help to answer any more questions you may have. Hope you have fun here!

actually, trading is now done in the trade forum.

Trading is accomplished by using ATMA. generally what you do is make a "mule" - a new character - and transfer the item to be traded to that mule. Then you attach the mule d2s file to an email and you email the file to your trade partner who sends you a mule of his own with the item(s) you are receiving. Save the file in your Diablo save folder and open it in ATMA and move the item to one of your regular characters or your stash file. Once you know your partner has received the item you send, be sure to delete your copy of it so no duplicates are created.

Trading here is based on trust. You have to built that trust. Don't expect to trade lots of high end items right away. Give people time to get to know you.
You can also check the stickied thread for give away items if you need some starter equipment. Look at what is being offered for free and make a request.

For MP games, there is another thread (you found it yesterday) where people will post games they are hosting. copy the IP given, then start D2 and select TCP/IP game, join game then paste the IP into the box and there ya go.

MP games are all listed in the MP thread. just check that one periodically to see who is hosting. this way, all games are available to everyone and can be found in one location on the board without needing to read every thread

Mfing is short for Magic Finding, the process of loading up a character with +%magic find and playing either a) an area (or a boss) over and over again b) or for a very long time (i.e. designing a character to carry 200% mf for the entire game

Click on other multiplayer options, and go to TC/IP games. Then copy/paste the IP into your screen.
