In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread ifr

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Right, settle down, let's get some action here.

First priority is navigation. In response to the diagnostic we have four consecutive readouts - not quite the same but very close. That last set of readouts from navagation (Ivan) reads "damaged" in binary. Finally we had what appeared to be further communication responding to direct questions. It's looking like the ship's computer is being inhabited by a sentient being.

I think we have to take the initiative and try and fix it. Otherwise we are going to be stuck here with no way to move.

Plus if it is a sentient being in navigation, maybe it can shed some light on communications (Loz) from the inside.

Tribble

spudnik is obviously role claiming
what is your role spudnik

Really Loz? You want him to say more then he has? Why?
Unless he's anti-town (in which case he'd lie anyway) we're better off leaving it as obscure as we can.

I agree with Noodle on the role baiting thing, Whale is a new player and I'm inclined to give him the benefit of doubt for now.

Bad Ash - I'll ask again, why declare stump at this point?
Tribble

Noammr
Spudnik has already said it
mafia is aware
let's be clear what it really means

I will drop it though if that is best

The bolded 00 means that's the end of his sequence. When putting the digits into 8 a piece you get:

01100100 01100001 01101101 01100001 01100111 01100101 01100100

and when translated from binary to text you get

Well I'm finally caught up on all the happenings...Whew! Physics class tonight :(

I'm sorry for asking this but I also am needing to know what VI is?

Now my thought (don't get used to it) is Ivan has been random from the beginning. Now it seems he has become quite sentient. It would be an incredible example of "nerves of steel" to be able to maintain the facade of being a malfunctioning machine. I'll admit I want to believe...but the cost of a mistake is high isn't it?

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

VI is Village Idiot I believe. That's what I've gathered. As far as I know, if they're lynched on a certain day (there were odd/even ones in the last game), generally just a lynch I believe, they win.

Physics for you too? glad to see a fellow student in the studies. I just got out of my astronomy lab tonight.

Ankeli, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I don't think I've changed my playstyle much, it's just that I've had A LOT less time to post then I normally do. I just recently got my telescope fixed and have been kinda fixated on that, and I have a major standardized test to take tomorrow morning. I'm focused on you, Zhao, Bad Ash, and some of the newbies who haven't been posting much. In fact, I really do agree with you on zhao this time around. He's playing a very dangerous game, trying to push lynches where he shouldn't be. and in this entire exchange with Krazey, he's been almost deathly silent. for this he deserves my lynch vote.

Vote: Zhao_Yue

Unless everyone is convinced that lynching Krazey will fix him, I'm going to keep my vote on Zhao. He has the most votes on him currently besides Krazey, we've already passed the 24 hour mark, and we have many players scattered throughout time zones. I think it's best to put aside the Krazey business for right now and focus on getting a lynch off, otherwise we'll go through a full day with no lynch, and you know that it hurts us townies.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

VI = Village Idiot, yes, Hey. :)

Vigi = Vigilante, just an FYI.

here is a link to where y'all can check roles out and reference if y'all need it. here lately, diff hosts are getting creative and putting interesting tweaks on things. example: the basic VI's goal is to get lynched. s/he shares the victory with whoever wins the game. in the last game, Wiki put a twist to it. i rememeber witnessing some games where other basic roles had a simple twist to them (i can't remember any, tho. forgive me, it's getting late) and there are some roles that are not on here but do exist (example, "silencer" is also referred to as "bully") and i think some of these guys have gone out of their way and made up a role. :)

im not helping anyone in particular here, im just helping the newbies who have never played mafia before. this might clear things up with them as i had referred to this site/page many times to help me (i still use it to help me! :p). i figured i could spread the good knowledge. :girly:

i agree. there are many players in this game, diff parts of the world, we need to lock someone pretty quick. we don't have much time to fiddle out thumbs and diddle around.

for right now, im keeping my vote on Ivan. i am trusting that he is a good guy, won't backstab us in the end, and will talk normally tomorrow. if that's the case, we can get Zhao or Ankeli tomorrow. the longer something simmers in juices, the better the meat will soak in flavor. and i can't wait to sink my teeth into one of them.

(and i am metaphorically speaking for the pervs reading this. :p)

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Greetings.

Here's your random post containing vote tallies, if i counted right:

KrazeyIvan: 4 (Zhao, Leo, ITY, Thy)
Zhao: 2 (Ankeli, Asrrin)
Outside The Whale: 1 (Spudnik)

10 to lynch.
11 to lock.

Day ends in roughly 15 hours and 10 minutes.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I think that we have to help Ivan before anything else. He clearly is trying to get our attention and I believe he wants us to lynch us to save him. However, let's try this:

Ivan, if lynching will save you and will help clear things up, set course to 111.111.

Ivan, if lynching will save you and will help clear things up, set course to 111.111.
He's already made it fairly clear that lynching him will help him, the "problem" with that is if we are willing to take that sort of chance or go after someone who seems to be rather suspicious.

If we lynch Ivan and it saves him, would it provide us with any sort of useful information? Or do we lynch Zhao, who a few have pointed to as a good lynch target.

I agree with folks' arguments about Zhao so far, but I'm sort of more inclined to try to fix Ivan seeing as we will need a functioning navigator if we are to get out of this predicament.

But then.. if we fix Ivan, we will still have an imposter onboard if we are able to vacate the area immediately. Yet again if that happens, then it would remove the possibility that anyone else could be replaced by someone/thing on the penal colony.

So do we try to get the navigator back up first, or lynch Zhao with the chance he is not one of us?

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I think we have more choices than that, but I see your point.

I wasn't in the last game so I am not predisposed against Zhao. So, I can't comment there.

However, there's got to be some intelligent question we can ask Ivan to minimize risk. I get the idea we're stuck in the water until he's up and running. But, maybe Gorny will... err.. I mean maybe the story will become more clear tonight.

You're talking like I'd be a certain lynch tomorrow. Are you the 4th mafia instead of Zarniwoop since you've suggested lynching me would be an awesome idea on multiple occasions? Maybe I strook a nerve when I named Marahumm, Bad Ash and Asrrin as your companions? Huh?

--

I love the role fishing going on. Very subtle by some, obnoxiously obvious by others. I'm tempted to give a hint towards my role.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Oh, I also won't vote for Ivan. He's either the VI (one of many maybe, Bad Ash?) or a bad guy looking to gain something out of his lynch. I doubt even Gorny would make a role that would start working properly upon lynch, it's just too random.

My vote'll stick on Zhao.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Any effort to "fix" the navigator by lynching him is also seen by me as an effort to get rid of the Navigator. I'm mainly looking at you, Dii Legend and Leo.
