Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

In one scene where Picard attempts to treat a wounded Dathon, the Tamarian says "Kiazi's children, their faces wet". It is unclear what Dathon means by this, although (since Dathon is trying to shoo Picard away from caring for his injuries at the time) it may allude to children crying for no reason; the Tamarian may be saying that Picard should not worry or feel sad, *as nothing could be done. It might also mean that Dathon knew he was dying, as Kiazi's children apparently knew, since Picard was trying to find out the extent of Dathon's injuries at the time.

so if ITY is a Dathon he is injured and dieing then?

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I dunno, ITY could be setting him up or Asrrin may be being rash or they both might be completely fooled by a third party or a bus driver or etc...

I did not reach the conclusions that Thyiad did about zhao. Did you notice that his faction wasn't mentioned? I assumed that meant that somehow outing his faction would let people know something that shouldn't be known. That wouldn't' be the case if he was pro-town or anti-town unless he was both.

Please tell me if I'm reaching on that. I don't want to go down a path that is distracting after last night.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

The following is my translation of Asrrin's posts from the wiki:

First set of posts: He's angry with I_Told_You. Obviously he's convinced that I_Told_You is scummy/evil/dresses in ladies undergarments (joke). We knew that.

Second set of posts: He feels that Bad Ash is failing to understand/believe him.

Third Set of posts: He has been silenced and he's implying that we should trust him.

Fourth set of posts: He's angry with ITY and revotes him. I assume for the reasons expressed in post set one.

Just the translations.

Man. Could whoever the silencer is pick a new trick? That's a pita.

Is it possible that one of them is a sort of... clone, I guess? If they were switched, could one of them have been afflicted with whatever the other was afflicted with?

1. How do you know that he doesn't dress in ladies undergarments O.O. Seriously though, this makes sense, and I can't think of anything to add.

2. Unless you're taking Bad Ash's post to mean that he believes that ITY is the legitimate claim, and Asrrin is the fake one, I can't make sense of this. I'll just assume that you mean that :P. Basically this was a pointless waste of time to write...

3. Don't doubt your translation, but I'll need more evidence to make a call on whether it's ITY or him. Could it be both, possibly, as suggested above?

4. Uhh....

I can't think of anything else that needs to be further inspected right now. Anyone point something out to me if they think it needs to be talked about?

~Hey

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

On number 3 I think he's responding to Bad Ash's post where he says:

I think one of them is faking and needs to go.

That's a paraphrase not a direct quote. I have only suspicions at the moment and no firm conviction. If I had a gun pointed at my head right now, I'd probably vote for ITY. But, I am not solidly sold on that so I have no vote at this time. Frustrating.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

Translation of Asrrin from the wiki found here: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Tamarian_language

Post Set One:

"Sokath, his eyes uncovered/opened" - understanding/realization
"Uzani, with fists closed" - to close rank and attack after luring the enemy

I'm taking that to mean he thinks I've captured his meaning in his last post and that we should close ranks and attack the enemy. In this case, I'm assuming he means ITY.

Post Set 2:

"Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" - cooperation

By that I guess he's asking Hey to cooperate in this lynching of ITY.

Post Set 3:

"The beast at Tanagra" - an obstacle to be overcome

He's obviously calling ITY the enemy.

Just the translator. The previous opinions are not necessarily the opinion of etc etc etc...

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

the best thing we can do at this point is lynch one and if we are wrong we lynch the other one tomorrow.....if they are in cahoots then who knows

I'm struggling with the old "what if there's a third party manipulator pulling our strings?"

But, maybe you're right. For now then...

Because if I was faking, I would have made certain I got first post in -

I reserve the right to change this vote if I become unconvinced of this or if new ideas come to light. I don't feel great going on a hunch. Hopefully posting will pick up later. What really sucks is that this post means neither of them can even roleclaim. Not, that that would necessarily be believed either.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I will assume you're asking me. And I guess I'm obligated to answer that.

I've stated in EACH post when I talk about possibilities exactly WHY I'm careful with what I say and the reason not being careful is dangerous to the town. The biggest threat to the town sometimes is creating confusion or just voting irrationally (see ankeli). Or making suspicious statements about something anyone who had read the thread would know (see your post above). I therefore qualify most statements I make about suspicions, because anything else is irrational.

If I KNEW something for certain or had found multiple inconsistencies in facts of posts, I would voice my opinion more strongly.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

I'm essentially the loudest person posting today. And I'm staying out of the spotlight?

You've made essentially nothing but single line posts for the entire thread (I read them all). I am the one trying to stay out of the spotlight? Hypocrite much?

If I wanted out of the spotlight, I'd wait til tons of people posted before voicing my opinion. Much like you do.

Re: In A Mirror Darkly - Star Trek Mafia Forum Game Thread

All I've seen you do is say something, and then turn around and say something else - usually making it sound like you have something to hide by not actually saying anything.

More importantly, if you were actually reading all the posts, you would notice that most of mine have not been "one-liners." You, on the other hand, seem very unsure of anything you have been saying. Paranoid much? Or just afraid of being caught.
