IK Barb = Noob?

I'm sure many here have played IK barbs and I'm wondering if what happens to me often also happens to you. Why is it that the general bnet population assumes that you're a noob and that you suck because you play an IK barb?

Let me just relate what happened in a game last night...

A barb comes into my trade game which I set up with my IK barb, took a look at the dracs I had for trade, then called me a noob. BUT then... he started to give me stuff. His dracs, a gimmershred, a dwarf star and a 31life LC. Not great stuff but still tradeable for pgems. :)

This is only one of my very few "good" encounters when people assume I'm a noobish IK barb, most of the times, they'll just hostile me and then I'll just have to bring in my duelling barb.

Anyone else has stories like this to share? What happened and how you reacted when you're called a noob in your ik barb persona.

Cheers

it's generally just because they're idiots. IK Barbs are themed characters.. they are a character based on a set. A Not overpowered, not underpowered, very well balanced set. Nothing is immune to an IK barb, and there is nothing in the entire game that you can't kill. I can solo anything in the game with my IK barb, I can play any area in any act.. and I can do so quite effectivly .. there are better set up's out there, there are setup's that can kill faster, have more life etc. but for PvM I CAN do anything in the game .. including the clone in around 4 minutes without the use of a single healing potion.

Chalk it up to the fact that they're morons .. the set is all about balance.. IMO it's one of the most balanced equiptment set up's in the game ..

I got loool-ed for not using coh on my javazon for the "200% xtra dmg to deamons - besy javzon armor" - was using an eth skullders as it happened it was an mf char. Things went rolf-ing when he saw i wasn`t using mara, instead i was using a rare: 2 ama skills, 19 all rez, 19 dex, 2x mf.
And so on.

ik barbs are best in pvm imo. they simply cant die if u hit. even in act 4, there's the reliable bersek.

Cause everyone is so single minded on these 'godly' runewords. I got laughed at when I showed them my 369%ED, 20IAS 2 socket eth crystal sword call me a noob because it wasnt a botd..

Well...I dont say noobs to IK barbs, but I really think it when I go to a duel game and ppl really think they can duel well with full ik....I never lost to a full IK barb what so ever, but I never call them noobs.... Just fun dueling them cause they arent that hard...

Ya, people who try to dule with a full IK set should probably expect to be called a "noob" it isen't a PvP setup. I've only ever duled once with my IK barb, and that was just with a friend that wanted to for fun with his PvP barb. But we only did a pure melee dule, basically we just stood there and used conc. I beat him and he said it was the first time he'd ever been beaten by an IK barb... however, this is non-ladder and every socket in the set was filled with a 40/15 IAS, so my conc is quite fast and it does decent damage. when the fight was over I had less than 100 life left, however, I have no doubt that it was nothing more than a little luck, a couple of good damage hits etc. The set isen't made for PvP, and I would never even step into a duleing game with it..

Ofcourse, the IK set isn't meant for PvP!

It's great for PvM though, I can't really add anything there to what squigipapa already said. I completely solo'd Hell with my IK barb and he died once: when I hit 'sleep' on my keyboard instead of 'F12' for a TP while being surrounded in the Arcane Sanctum. Ik got me once on a Diablo run where the Oblivion Knight was out of sight when I started WWing, but for the rest I NEVER had any problems EVER.

question. has anyone ever tried soc ik items with die facets? and going off to duel? do the die facets stack. I think that'd be hellah fun to watch...

200%?
what if you soc 2 diff die facets?
will they both kick in right when you die?
same facet will be cast 2x or do 2x more dmg?

Ok, lets say you socket 1 cold die facet. you get 100% chance to cast lvl xx blizzard. then let's say you socket another cold die facet. it's a waste (for the cast on die portion) because you will still only cast the one blizzard, it won't do double damage, it's simply the % chance to cast that stacks .. so you'd end up with a useless 200% chance to cast.

The most you could have go off would be 4 spells when you die, one for each type of facet.

When I first saw the facet, when 1.10 came out .. the first thing I thought of was making a 'kamakazi' merc, loaded up with as many facets as I could pile on him to use in PvP... so I did some testing (2 computers, 2 copies of the game) and honestly the un-synergized damage just dosen't cut it.

They arn't useless, of course the +xx dmg/-xx enemy resistance is awsome for characters that use that particular element as their attack. The % chance to cast on dying is basically just eye candy, however, in certian situations you could potentially end up takeing out some enemy's if you were swarmed and killed, perhaps giving you a little better chance at retreving your body.

very good point.
but dang it! it's still nice to see all 4 triggered at once.
I wonder what the dmg would be for all 4 together? even w/o synergies.

Level 31 Meteor:

Fire Damage: 1762-1842, 405-426 fire dmg per second (after burning fire)

Level 37 Blizzard:

Cold Damage: 1575-1641

Level 47 Chain Lightening:

Lightening Damage: 1-686 (14 hits)

Level 51 Poison Nova:

Poison Damage: 1637-1671 (over 2 seconds)

-------
Plus I believe on each spell you'd also recieve the +xx% skill damage and -xx% enemy resistance from the jewel itself which would increase the damage of each individual skill somewhat.

decent damage.
But those seem kind of low for being lvl 30+
synergies roxor!
