ID'd besides Cain or Scroll

ID'd besides Cain or Scroll

Can an item be ID'd by some other means besides an owner doing it by scroll or Cain? I ask because I had an un-ID'd Shako that somehow showed up as ID'd and I did not do it! I clearly remember putting it my stash as un-ID'd to check it. I do not believe having Cain ID items in your inventory affects your stash items.
I had entered a trade game where someone was looking for a Shako but I left after the usual abuse (newbie chants, etc.) started. I had not opened a trade window.
 
If an item is in your cube and you go to cain to id items, he will id the items in your cube too. I beleive Items can also be id'd by selling them to a vendor, although this is obviously not the case for you.

Thanks that was it! Cain will ID an item in the cube but not in your stash. I just did a test to confirm by having an un-ID'd in my stash and one in the cube that was in my stash. Only the cube item was ID'd.
I feel dumb but have learned something new.

why do you care? shakos have the same stats... unid is pointless. the only difference is the Base Defence which shows up before id'ed anyways. :creep:

I think I heard somewhere that it's less likely to be duped if it's unid.

that as far as i know is true. but at this point, its not duped shakos we gotta worry about. its runes. that stuff hasnt been duped since .09. the focus was and allways will be on the best of the best, and since the runewords are so damn godly...thats what people go for.

Not really, it's just a lot of the dupes were perfect .. or 1 stat from perfect .. so at least if you traded for a windforce that was un id'd you knew you wern't getting that particular dupe .. however, unid'd items could still have been duped .. just the common, perfect, well known dupes were already id'd so at least if you traded for an unid'd item you knew you wern't getting one of thoes.. but that's for variable stat items .. shako dosen't really matter anyway since the stats .. (other than base def) will be the same regardless.
