How to trade torch+item for another torch on b.net?

Kind of know how to trade torch for torch, you verify torch stat, drop torch, and pick up the other torch. You create game so only two people can enter. Not as reliable as trade window but relatively safe.

Now how do you trade a torch plus an item for another torch?

Let's assume that the other party (called McNoob from now on) has the PTorch 20/20 +CoA and you have an Assa T 10/10. The way to trade successfully is as follows:

1. You agree on the trade.
2. You create a game where only two people can enter.
3. You verify in window that McNoob still has the CoA + Torch, and he can see that you still have your Torch.
4. McNoob drops his Torch
5. You trade your Torch in window vs. his CoA. He now has a Torch so he cannot pick up his own former Torch.
6. You pick up your new perf Pala Torch.
7. You save & exit, sell the items, fill a bathtub with HRs and proceed to relax in all the ways suitable for an honest merchant. :smug:

Why should McNoob drop his torch first? I wouldn't do that if I was him (apart from doing the trade at all, of course :smug, so if somebody offers to do the trade like that, I would smell a trap.

While or after doing the trade window business, McNoob could enter the game with a second game copy or let a friend do that and snatch the torch he dropped.

Drop trades are insecure, there's no way to make them safe for both parties. If some bnet stranger offers one, it's better to assume that it's a scam.

Yeah like kris says, the only safe way to do that kind of trade is to do it with somebody here, who has a good trade rating, rather than random b.net kiddies.

If you make the game with a char restriction of two, there's no way a third char can enter the game, even with hacks (if you can make hacks like that, why not hack NASA instead?). And obviously McNoob can drop his Torch since he has seen in the window that you have one too. I didn't mention it but I thought it was obvious. I did a trade like this not too long ago (well, it wasn't Assa T vs. Pala T + CoA ), with zero problems. No 'trust' is involved in this way of trading at all, merely clever exploitation of game mechanics.

The only possibility of scamming that I can think of is if McNoob leaves with his char and his friend enters lightning-fast with an empty char and takes my new Torch. That would take a proggy though, as I will grab the new Torch within 0,5 secs at the very most. I'm willing to take such a minuscule risk if I can make a good trade. To each his own, ofc.

And that miniscule risk can be avoided aswell, just got to some far corner of the town and do it there. I heard once someone scammed a torch by clicking it while it was on the ground (possibly with a program of some sort) and it would fly in the air and you could'nt get it. They could do that for a good long while and wait until you get bored etc. and leave the game.

Ah, yes. That is a well-known program that bots use, too. That is a real possibility that I didn't take into account. You could just stay in the game longer than them, ofc. And it may be possible to grab it if you keep clicking long enough.

That's right, but only the game creator knows if there's really a player restriction.

I still wouldn't drop my torch first as McNoob is supposed to do, no matter what my trading partner is trying to explain me. Accordingly, if the offer to trade like that comes from McNoob himself, it would appear like a trick. I cannot know for sure and in advance how safe the trade method is.

I don't know which kinds of hacks exist, so I will assume the worst if somebody offers a drop trade where he seems to take all of the risk and (of course) also if I'm supposed to drop first.

If the other guy trusts you so much that you can convince him to accept all of that, you can as well ask him to drop everything first and then you give him what he is supposed to get :smug:.

Hmm didn't think of that, ofc with a passworded game there's no way to see if the restriction is truly in effect. One could double-check by trying to join with a second char of one's own (requires two cd-keys, obviously). It gets fairly convoluted, I agree; the better way is simply to stock enough runes that you can always buy a Torch with an empty char.

I agree there is still risk involved. But if you verify stats, and go to act 3 far corner to carry out transaction, it is pretty hard for someone to join game and grab torch on the floor.

The one with lower torch will drop torch first.
