**Help** Quick question about Steelrend Gloves **Help**

Quick question to everyone..........

Why are Steelrend gloves consider to be so great?!? They have a huge price in the trade forums if you get over 50% ED on them but I don't know why. They are listed at 2+ Ist for 50% ED / 18 Str (60/20 is perfect) again why is this. are they that rare or are they used for a special build, for PvP or PvM........I need help. I want to know why the lust over a set of gloves.

They're the best non-crafted barb pvp gloves (other melee classes too) hands down. Strength is always good, crushing blow is great, and up to 60 ed is fantastic.

Ed is always nice for melee chars. Strength helps with requirements (although these are probably the highest str things you would wear), and the only other crushing blow on gloves is venom grip and crafteds. If you don't need more IAS, these can give some nice damage.

I'd rather have the cast enchant gloves though.

Edit- Wouldn't a dueler rather have the large AR bonus from enchant, and save all that str towards vit?

Yeah, the sheer damage from these puppies is something to be reckoned with. I have a pair of 49/16s and love them for my Wolfbarb when I'm in a duel where Dracs are considered BM.

I'd much rather use a Demon Limb for a much higher level Enchant, than hope it will be randomly cast.

As for rare... i've found numberous shakos, GA's, Reaper Tolls, and 3 Mara's.... but never once have those gloves dropped for me.

All those could be found at hell Meph whereas Steelrends can be dropped by higher level monsters and still the chances are pretty low.

Yeah the pair I had till last night (traded them to complete a couple sets) dropped from a boss pack in Lvl 3 Maggot Lair. I've never found a shoko, Mara's or Reapers.

Well, I do Diablo, Pits, Ancient Tunnels too with my hammerdin... and Baal only about 1 time a day.... still no rends for me :rant:

Patience is the key word here.Last season I made 2654563567456 Pit runs and found tons of great elite stuff but never found rends.I haven't even found any of the top rarest uniques(Death's Web,Death Fathom,Mang Song's,etc).Occasionally I would get gray unearthed wand or dimensional shard but that's it.This season I convinced my brother to join me so we could play mainly Baal.We haven't ran him that much so I can't say if that is better than Pits.I would assume it is equal and it depends on what do you feel like playing more.

So I will probably start the game, mf for a while, find 10 Isenhart's case, start to cry and go to bed.
I've found one pair though, in Ancient tunnels. Of course ed was almost at the minimum.

IIRC, the str requirements on rends are high, which is one reason why I never bothered with them. Maybe I should get a pair and try them out myself? 2x ists, huh?

Enigma+Arreat's face+Stormshield+Thundergod's should mean you don't have to waste too much points in strength.

This reminds me of my Pit runs.Every time the game decides to drop me an elite set it is green cryptic sword and every time it decides to drop me an elite unique it is gold armet.

well the ones I found were 53/15 not the best but they did fetch me 4 Items I was really wanting. They helped me complete my MavZon and TrangNecro and also fetched me a near perfect Ravensfrost. The funny thing about finding them was that i was simply killing things in an area with high level and no chance of getting swarmed by bad guys to gain exp. Figure a Blizzard sorce can clear the Lair without having to worry about dieing. then bam gold orge gloves, I had never seen them before in game but knew the second I saw them laying on the ground what they were and tossed the Eth Duriel shell in my pack on the ground to get them (needed room) took them to my stash went back and got the shell, left the game then came back to finish the level before moving on to the next game.
