Help Me Build My Mf Sorc!

Ok well, I need to make an mf sorc, now that im running low on the things I inhereted from my brother quiting =]. I need help picking gear, build, and merc. I've read most of the mf'ing build guides but i just can't decide.

First i will list the gear i have planned out, if you could, please comment on what you think i should change/replace and what i should keep.

Head: Ptopaz Shako
Armor: Tals
Ammy: Tals
Belt: Tals
Sheild: Spirit Sheild
Weapon: 2x isted Ali baba
Boots: War Travs
Rings: 2x Nagel
Gloves: Chance Guards
Charms: So far only gheeds

I can probably afford most gear replacements and more charms if needed. My gear is mainly mf and im not sure if there is enough survivabilty/efficeny with my gear. So thats why i want opinions.

Also here is what i have for my merc. I think my helm is pretty good just need new armor and weapon.

Wep: Insight
Armor: Low Eth Fort, need a new one =\
Helm: Vamp Gaze

I can't decide which act 2 merc to get either =\. I was thinking Norm/Hell Def so that he could tank well, but i wasn't sure.

Next is my build. I know some builds are better for different bosses, so i will tell you what i plan to mf. Im pretty sure I will stick with Andy Meph and pindle some. So is there one specific good build that works for all three?

Well my first thought for MFing those 3 was meteorb, so that's out the window. I suppose I would go with the Chain Lightning/Frozen Orb variant. I'm currently building one myself. My rationale for such a decision is this:

*Can quickly dispatch Meph, Andy, and Pindle.
*Can hell-rush, albeit not as quickly as, say a Hammerdin.
*And the kicker--Can quickly kill Hell Countess. Try that with a weak merc and meteorb ^^

As for gear, and it's been beat to death in this forum for good reason, FULL TAL'S...not partial. Full Tal's will sacrifice a little MF for a LOT of survivability and killing speed. I'm personally using it for mine. You can't argue with the facts. The damage modifiers, life, mana, resists are all insane.

I'd definately recommend using Full Tals as opposed to just using the Armor/Ammy/Belt. The increased killing speed/suvivability will be very nice.

A Lightning/Orb build looks quite nice in a skill planner as Greg suggests. Give your merc Infinity and you'll pretty much own anything out there while maintaining a very nice MF%. :thumbsup:
 
Do you all think a Blizz sorc woud be another good choice? or is meteorb/chainlit-orb the only 2 best choices?
 
blizz sorc are very limited to where they can run.

You are better of with meteorb or chainorb.

If you want to do blizz you could think of making a blizzballer
 
You say you mainly wish to mf Andy , Meph and Pindle.

I use a fire sorc and only mf these 3 and countess. She does it easy and with cheap gear.

I wouldnt go a dual elementist if only running those 3.

My experience with each of those 3.

Meph - Can kill most of council before him myself. My merc can kill the fire immune one. Blood lords cold immune.

Pindle - Minions cold immune. He ussually not fire immune if he is merc kills.

Andy - Most monsters around (fallen) are fire immune. Dont worry about them and tele right next to andy kill pick up and go to town

Off the top of my head, this is the MF Fire Sorc I have re-made with each reset and been using for years. She has around 500MF and is pretty darn godly powerful as long as you don't try anything stupid like Uber Trist.

Head: Shako W/ Ptopaz
Armor: Eth Skulder's Ire W/ Ptopaz
Ammy: +2 Sorc Skills/20% FCR
Belt: Upped Goldwrap
Sheild: 35 Spirit Monarch (it's vital that this be a perfect 35%FCR)
Weapon: Wizardspike W/ Ist
Boots: War Travs
Rings: 2x Nagel
Gloves: Chance Guards

Charms: 1x Gheeds, 1x Torch, 1x Anni, 5x Fire GC, 6x 7mfsc.

Merc: Eth Delirium, Eth Fort, Eth Infinity.

Note that I personally believe that Delirium is so overwhelmingly good for Sorc Mercs that using any other helm is just plain stupid. Delirium makes all the monsters fight each other, giving a Sorc instant "free" crowd control.

This is a 500MF Fire/Orb Sorc. For skills I max Frozen Orb with 1 point in Cold Mastery. Minimum points to get Teleport, 1 point in Static Field, all the rest in the fire tree. Maxed Fire Bolt, Fire Baal, and Meteor... all remaining points in Fire Mastery. I actually rarely use Meteor, I consider Fire Ball to be far more useful.

Oh, almost forgot too mention... with the Wizspike, 35 Spirit Mon, and 20FCR ammy this character exactly hits the 105% FCR break point with 500MF:-)



 
I got a CL/FO sorc mainly for killing andy/meph/pindle
she's got around 500mf with normal gear and using switch i got around 570

helm: shako /w ptopaz (only choice here i think)
armor: tals armor /w ptopaz (for me too only choice, 112% mf, good res. ...)
wep: wizardspike (lotsa mana +75 resistances with this you will normally have maxed resists without the need of alot res. charms)
gloves, belt, boots the standard three (chances, goldwrap, wartravs.)
rings: nagelrings
amulet: i use a +33% mf amu, you could also use a good crafted/rare/tals amu

in my other weapon slot I have a gull (100% mf, or if u have a 2ist baba, thats better) and some runeword that gives a few handy stuff and 20% mf)

with this build i can thank mephy's elemental attacks

Yes, max res is great, my MF Sorc I had listed in the post above your also has max res on all but fire with just the gear, and has max on all once 3 of your 7mfscs also have 10-11 fire res. If you dump your Tal's for an Eth Upped Skulder's the 1700 def comes in quite handy:-)



 
I am currently in the process of leveling my FO sorc.

20 IB(maybe less)
20 ES
20 Telek
10 Mastery(maybe more)
rest to Warmth

helm: Shako w/ P Topaz
Weapon1: Fathom
Shield: 33 FCR Spirit
Weapon2: Gul w/ ist
Shield 2: ? Maybe rhyme until I can get a better one
Gloves: Chance
Belt: Gold wrap
Boots: Wartrav
Ring: Nagel
Ammy: +3 Cold skills

Various charms I need skillers, FHR, MF, Life

My question is should I go CoH or Enigma
CoH has the resists and a 20 str w/ 25 MF

Enigma has no resists but 40-60 Str and 85+ MF
and damn that Spirit weighs a lot.

Oh what a dilemma, anyone have the answer?
 
I've typically gone with Blizz sorcs for the runs you're talking about.

Meteorb's will kill Andy faster since she's weak on FR. Blizz takes care of Meph and Pindle faster. If Pindle's CI, I usually just drop and try again.

I normally just had my MeteOrb running Countess since she had a much stronger Merc than my Blizz sorc. I just TK'd her and kept her pinned to the wall while my Merc took care of her. She was also the rusher, having a bit more FCR.

Countess is one of the few monsters whose fire-immunity can be broken by infinity, so you can easily kill her without TK using a meteorb if your merc uses infinity.

My rush sorc was wearing a lot of cheap gear (rares that I'd found), so spending $$ on Infinity wasn't worth it, particularly when the merc was pretty good at killing the Countess quickly ;)
