Hell Pit run only good on 8playergame?

I've done a few pit runs so far and haven't really found much. The chest in the 2nd level has done zilch as far as anything worth keeping. Should I be trying to find 8-player game or will the pit pay off in the long run regardless of how many players in game?
 
There's your problem: you've done a *few* Pit runs. While more players is optimal, 1 player games can still give good results over time.
 
thanks EA :) I guess I was looking for a moral boost ;)
 
also the chest is not the goal, the boss packs and random mobs is were you find most loot.

It's not any better than any other random group of monsters, it just happens to have the chance to drop the really ridiculously rare stuff, with the bonus of not being as hard as the worldstone.
 
I did hell Pit runs in 1.10. It dropped some good stuff, arachnid...... and then after a while tyraels might. Which nobody wanted to buy I might add...
 
hang in there…takes awhile but it'll pay off eventually.

A few things I've found in the Pits this season:
eth HOZ / Pcomb GC / Templars Might / IK Armor

all in one player game - none from the chest
 
Good things come to those with patience.

The only decent thing the special chest has ever dropped for me is a Harlequin's Crest, whereas Bosses / Champions on /p 1 have dropped Windforce, IK armor, Tal's Armor, a few Reaper's Toll - some good usable stuff. Raise the /p setting until your killrate slows, and keep running. You'll get there eventually. Best of luck to you!

Hmm, what would be the best pit runner? My hammerdin keeps getting killed by the archers...I gotta find them first before I can take care of the others but there's always a ton of them >_<
 
It's in Pits level 2 on the right side.

Too many answers! It depends on play style and preferences. MY LF/PJ zon does very well, as does my strafer, and summon necromancer. A LS/DS/FB Assassin can speed through at /P1. If I feel like playing a sorc in pit runs, I'll take my Blizzsorc to the Ancient Tunnels - also a level 85 area, but with no naturally occurring Cold Immunes.

Where is the speciell chest? I dont think i ever seen it

It's the golden, shiny one that looks like thos pirate treasure chests you see in the movies. :p
 
My hammerdin does nicely in there but, yes, those flaming archers will cut you quick if you dont pay attention.

Flaming archers get slaughtered by a barb's Taunt skill, if you want to make a barb. Other than that just something that's piled up with fire res. I don't think it really matters what char you play in the Pits with.



 
a wee update:

started up a pit run ..ermm... run tonite and on the first one an etheral Berserker Axe dropped and promptly went into the trade forum and sold for 6 high runes :flip:
