Has anyone noticed that us Druids get the shaft?

Heh, well, first off, hi all. This is my first post in the Druid forum (I think). I play Single Player, so you'll be able to find me there a lot more than here. And I play untwinked. Aren't I crazy?

Well, anyway, onto the subject of this thread.

Right now, I'm playing a Hunter Druid, and I'm cruising through Normal right now (I'm in Act III) and I got to thinking. Us Druids get the shaft in a lot of things.

-We only have two really useful skill trees (the Elemental Skill Tree may be fun, but it isn't good), as opposed to all the other classes (I can't think of a single other who has a bad skill tree), who have three useful trees.

-We only have one "Class Only"/Benefits us Item. Admittedly, a few other classes are like that as well (off the top of my head, the Barbarian, Assassin, and Druid are the classes like that).

Necromancers: Totems and Wands
Paladins: Sheilds and Scepters
Sorceresses: Globes and Staves
Amazon: Maiden Javalin and the Maiden Bow.

While these three neglected classes only get:

Druids: Pelts
Barbarians: Helms
Assassins: Claws

I mean, come on!

And finally, the Druid is the only one that doesn't get a 'special' speech from any of the NPCs (as far as my knowledge goes).

Necromancer: Gheed (though it isn't flattering).
Barbarian: Charsi (and maybe some guys in Act V? I can't remember).
Amazon: Admittedly, I'm not entirely sure here. Someone in Act I maybe?
Sorceress: Akara
Paladin: Fara
Assassin: Natalya
Druid:...no one.

Hello? What about our wonderful furry friends?

Heh, well, I hope you guys realize by now that I'm not really mad, but it is true. If someone could clarify the Amazon's 'special' speech, and whether or not the Barbarians and Assassins have more than just the Helms and Claws, respectively.

Add your reasons why the Druids got shafted,
~Necro

;)

i don't think druids got shafted...

well, druid get diversity.

we can go elemental... which can be quite good... go a pure windy and it works quite well. you get hurricane, cyclone armour, tornado. you have tornado which hurts everything, hurricane which hurts/slows down non-cold-immunes, and cyclone armour = can't get hurt. This is a popular druid build for hell and PvP

we can go shaftshifter... fury/feral rage, fire claw, rabies even... no bug anymore, but now a pure rabies works still. feral rage/fury = you don't die, fireclaws... well there are guides that explain that, same with rabies and insane poison facets to deal huge damage.

we have summons, which means we can be a support class. the ravens and things aren't that great on their own, but at least we get something to tank a little, to support our health or mana, and EVEN increase damage/ar, or health, or even thorns. the spirits make any build worth it for a druid.

as for items... the assasin has +skill boots and +skill gloves which you forgot.
bards and druid also get more weaqpons with +skills to them if you didn't notice... and this can be on ANY weapon. i've found some rare weapons of all types with +2 druid skills or barb skills... they just don't spawn on bows.

If i'm not mistaken, you're using a hunter build with a bow correct? that would likely be why you think we get the shaft mostly.

Heh, dude, notice that what I posted was humorous. I actually love playing Druids, and I know that they are really good.

Most items can spawn with +skills...but I'm talking about an item class that inherantely has +skills...like Wands, Staves, Globes, Scepters, Pelts, etc.

anyway i think druids should be able to hybrid more, encorperate elemetnal and shapeshifting

make sob alot alot better

Ah, ok, so there is someone who likes Druids in the game. Well, that's nice to know. It's been along time since I've played a Druid through the game, so that would explain my lack of knowledge.

So scratch that 'complaint' (once again, I'm not being serious here, I'm joking around), so Druids get slightly less shafted.

Though I might add, a real complaint would be Spirit of Barbs.

And it would be nice if we could somehow have 5 Spirit Wolves, 3 Dire Wolves, all three Vines, 5 Ravens, and one (or three) Spirits, and the Grizzly out...at the same time.

But that might be a bit overpowered...just a bit.

I don't think Druid's get shafted too much. I have lvl 61 with maxed out(20) Fury, 13 Werewolf and 12 Lycanthropy with Eathrshaker(Battle-Hammer) and he beat Baal in Nightmare pretty easily. I got in Hell last night and now....he's not so good. :p
But they're still my favorite characters to play.

Yes, yes, Druids are indeed very fun to play, and are also very good. IMO, they are up there in the Top Two best Character Clases, maybe Top Three (note: classes, not builds).

act 5 the merc salesmen gives the druids a little specail speech.

Also alot of the new items really help out the elemental druids out alot. Thats all I could really say about that tho.

Druids should be able to summon Dire Wolves and Grizzly at the same time IMO. A lot of people will say "omfg shut up noob that'd be imbalanced" but I see no one complaining of a necro having over 30 minions simultaneously. :)

Other than that, and fixing Arctic Blast damage - the fully synergized damage shown in the chart IS impressive after all IMO - I don't see how Druids could be improved, really. I think it's a very fun class and not very shafted, after all.

Paladins and Sorcs will probably remain most people's favorites due to having some of the cheesiest builds of the game, but Druids and Assassins have my preference. So many possible builds, so many FUN builds...

And while we're wishing, I want a castle, and a slot on Ozzfest and...wait...nevermind ;)

I never said that Druids weren't good, weren't fun to play, or were bad. I was simply joking that the other characters seem to get more attention then we do.

actually we do get the shaft a lot. But the thing is alot of us play druids b/c they are shafted and enjoy the challenge ......

maulers .... gl making a godly one that wins 70% of the time (still working on it)

fire druids ..... a lot of potential ... but again i havent gotten off my arse to make one and i havent seen a good one

werewolves ..... good but do have problems w/ other melee's

fc bears/wolves ....... good but easily negated

rabies ... can work pretty well

windy ...... really bnet just throwing us a cookie to shut us up

summoners .... can fair okay in pvm but not successful pvp unless doint the ol spam inside of town deal.

So yea .... we did get kind of a shaft for pvp but that is why a lot of us play them.

Earthshaker? Where am I supposed to get that? Playing 1.10 Single Player has it's disadvantages. And I play untwinked.

Voice: Yes, Druids are fun to play because of the challenge. Of course, I don't do PvP, but a Hardcore Hunter is rather...not easy ;)

Just FYI, every single class has a special greeting in every single act (except IV of course). Just remembering a few--

barb: Charsi, the drunk guy, Meshif, Malah
pally: Warriv, Fara, Ormus, Quel-tek
sorc: Akara, Drogdan, Hratli, Malah
amazon: the merc lady, ___, Ashera, and I think Larzuk

I'm bored trying to remember these so I'll stop now. :p

Druids don't have a special greeting in Act I, II, or III. And definately not IV.

Really? Then druids got the shaft afterall. I'm 99% certain all the other classes have a special greeting every act (don't know about assassins; I refuse to play one). I know Qual-khek gives the druid one. I don't know why Blizzard would leave druids out completely and give everyone else a greeting. :(

I think the Assassins are the same, no greeting in all but one or two of the Acts...I'm not sure about Act V, but Natayla in Act III greets the 'sins nicely.

Druid's do not get the shaft; they just have other specialties. Who else can use a CTA and an OAK-- Have 3-10k life and an elemental sheild?? Who else can have a carrion vine(for life or mana) and just sit there and cast repeatedly nonstop, who else has a hurricane and tornadoes.. not paladin, they got the hammers(hurricane) but no tornadoes. On top of that we got the pets! Bears, Wolves, Dire Wolves.. get an enigma teleport on a necro -- their pets are dead relatively fast. Whats the use of them then? Who else can kill a sorc and an assassin without loosing any life? I dont think that barb can. And then when your tired of being a caster, who else can become a Shape shifter? Like quick and aggressive (wolf) or slow and strong (bear form)? I don't think I've run into a smite pally that can beat my SS/summon druid. Now just because the merchants and NPCs don't talk special to me doesn't mean we got the shaft. And what other class gets helms with +3 Class (druid) +3 (hurri etc) +3 (torn etc.) +3 (oak etc.) with FHR and resist and mana?? And if you dont want FHR then find yourself a circlet with +3 elem/druid with 20FCR 20resists and life and mana. Now is that NPC speak really that important when you can out cast a sorc, out perform an assassin, out tank a barb, and out hammer a paladin? Who needs the amazons and necros anyhow (JK)? :)
