hi guys,

is HoTo the best weapon for hdin? if so, why?

also, can i use lw or botd for a hdin? coz ive seen ppl on bnet kill a monster and poison nova was executed. that means he was using botd right?

also, is hammerdin really THAT good in PvP?

HoTo is the best weapon due to its High FCR, +3 to all skills, and high bonus to resists.

LW or BotD, or any melee-weapon would be a poor choice for a pure-caster-hammerdin, as %ED does nothing for hammer damage - hammers are magic attacks.

I've never tested a BotD on a hammerdin, so I don't know if pnova triggers from hammer induced deaths, (seems unlikely, as it doesnt trigger from ww induced deaths on a barb). But, if it does, and you arent mistaken (and did not maybe see pnova emanating from a melee char right next to the hdin in question - it could be very confusing to tell for sure in a hectic baal game), then that person was probably using BotD for a laugh - it is certainly not the best weapon for an hdin.

CB and OW do not work with hammers (or with any spells) - CB is cut to 1/2 (i think?) effectiveness when using ranged weapons.

Generally speaking they can't, but there might be very very few exceptions. What hammerdins lack vs. the ubers is life leech and crushing blow. W/o those 2 you will be useless against them, as you cant leech life to stay alive more than a couple seconds, and you cant do enough damage (even with 17k hammer) to counter their ridiculous life regen. Plain and simple, you wont make a dent in them, and u will be dead within seconds.

But a hammerdin can easily do ubers with some gear swap. If you put on a guillames face, gore riders, dracs, grief and use 1 point smite + 1 point fanat then you can do ubers.

you use a hammer + smiter pala (vanquisher?) might be name but not sure, works very effectively against ubers, while for dclone you probably just want a smiter or zealer if ur gonna use pala

Hammerdins with good resists can solo DClone easy, just takes some time to kill him. They cannot do Uber Tristam solo.

Gloves: Trang Gloves/Magefist
Belt:Arachnids
Boots:Waterwalk
Ring 1: BK or Soj
Ring 2: 10Fcr Ring
Ammy:Maras/Seraphs/+2 Rare Pally

Max Blessed Hammer, Concentration, Vigor, Blessed Aim, 1 Pt in all prereqs, 1 pt in Redemption, 1 pt in Salvation (optional but recommended if you wanna help smiters uber), Rest in holy shield.

My hammerdin has easily killed Dclone. I keep a rising sun ammy in my stash just in case Dclone spawns in a game i make, and with that equipped it takes maybe 30 seconds and 2 health potions to kill dclone.

Just for note, if you go to a normal game with a botd equiped and kill 1 monster in a crowded area and poison nova goes off, for every monster that nova kills, a new one will appear and keep killing.

It's funny.

the nova doesnt work last time i checked, only works when you kill with physical damage, and hammers dont seem to be any damage since they go through every type of immunity including magic :shocked:
