Hal's 1.10 Conc Build Guide (Updated Edition)

hey all....i have a conc barb at lvl 82 and i was wondering if my dmg is up to par because it seems low compared to my other characters...hes using a gf (im too poor to get any botd) among other things and with max bo and conc hes doing 1000-4200 dmg...I only have 5 in sword mastery but it still seems kinda low (my pally gets 2-4k zeal dmg per hit and times 5 thats a lot more)...just wondering if its me or if thats just what its gonna be..thanks

1k-4.2k is not bad. My botd eth zerker gets me to 5.2k max conc, so as you can see it's decent dmg you have going on. I believe Hal has an inventory full of 3/xx/xx charms which help bring his dmg up from about where mine is at to 7.2k max. So charms also help.

Your problem seems to be that you're using a gf which is quite slow. You start off at 16 fpa and if you socket the gf with a shael, you're at 13 fpa. It takes 89% ias to get to 10 fpa and 147% to get to 9 fpa. 9 fpa with a gf is quite unreasonable. Compare that to a botd berserker axe that starts at 11 fpa conc. You only need another 65% ias to hit 9 fpa and 15% to hit 10 fpa. The attack rate is very important, I noticed a significant dmg increase going from 11 fpa to 9 fpa.

yeah i know a gf is slow but its the best sword i have..lol..i traded for it with a shael already in it and its okay i guess...ive been trying to get my hands on a really cheap botd cb but so far no luck

Hi, Hal:

Want to ask a question about fps.

In your guide, you mention that for a BA zerker, the fps breakpoints is 75 ias for 10 fps, and 125 ias for 9 fps.

Now with my botd, i have 60 ias, and Highlord's Wrath gives me another 20 ias.

So now I have 80 ias, and it is enuf for 10 fps. Yet even when I can get two 40ed/15ias jewels to socket into Arreat's Face and SS (not to mention I can't get any 1 such jewels now), the total ias is only 30 + 80 = 110 < 125. So how can we reach the breakpoint (125 ias) for zerker's 9 fps?

Am I missing something here?

IAS gloves. You can manage a godly pair using the blood craft recipe; mine ended up having dual leech, 20% ias, crushing blow, +life, +dex, and poison length reduced. Takes a lot of tries, but you can certainly manage a good pair if you play long enough.

Wow, your gloves are really terrific. What's your gloves' name?
How to craft a blook recipe glove? I often heard ppl talk of "blood recipe", but don't know what it really is.

Any link to suggest?

Thanks,

Thank you, nice guy.

I am wearing Dracule's Grasp, which is a vampirebone gloves. So when I put the glove, a Nef rune, a pRuby, and any magical jewel into the cube and transmute, I can get a glove with +20ias?

Likewise, it will probably take you quite awhile to get 20 ias unless you're really luck. You will, however, be guarnateed life leech, crushing blow, and life on each pair you make, along with a few other mods.

I'm sorry if it's already been answered but there's over 14 pages in this thread. :)

As do alot of people, I only play ladder. Has anyone had experience playing a conc barb untwinked? Assuming you don't get lucky and end up with semi-crap items in hell, is this character still viable?

Yes, it functions quite well untwinked, though obvious the better your gear, the better you'll do. The only real issue it has is killing speed; until you find a nice weapon, you won't be killing very fast. On the upside, it makes such good use of defensive options, you'll survive longer than other players even with crap gear.

Hi, Hal:

Want to ask you what is the difference of Act2 Nightmare Offensive merc (your choice) and Act2 Hell Offensive merc?

Can I hire an offensive merc directly from Hell difficulty to have the might merc?

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

In Normal difficulty, Act2 merc has a defiance aura, or something like that.
I have never tried an Act2 hell merc.

So i will return to Act2 NM to hire a Might merc to boost my dmg when I manage to get a DOOM weapon.

Thanks for the clarification,

I have never tried an Act2 hell merc.

Normal/Hell Act 2 Defensive is Defiance, Combat is Prayer, and Offensive is Blessed Aim.

Nightmare Ac2 Defensive is Holy Freeze, Combat is Thorns, Offensive is Might.

The aura fluctuates depending on which one you hire.

Hal, another question to bother you:

What is the benefit when I get the Might merc? I never used a Might merc, so not familiar with the benefit.

And I can't find any info related to mercs in Arreat Summit.

Could you explain a little bit?

thx

Hi Hal.

Last fall I built a conc barb based on your template. I was cruising along in Act 1 Hell before school reared its ugly head and I had to put it down. Now that I've got some free time, I'd really like to beat the game once and for all.

From the (15 pages of) posts you've made since I was last on the board, I gather that your skill and equipment preferences have changed. Would you mind listing your current recommendations?

Thanks man.
