Gunslinger (Reset Viable?)

Would the Gunslinger build be viable in Hell Mode with the new reset?

I've thought of doing a Charged Strike Amazon, but I liked the idea of having a bow as backup or just for fun. Though I've wondered what the use of one would be, especially if the aim is for one day to have perfect equipment, including a mercenary with Infinity. Is there any specific advantages of the Gunslinger build over the regular Charged Strike Amazon, with or without certain gear?

If I do go with a Gunslinger I was wondering if going with all dexterity would be best, even without items. I would probably have only around 300 Life in hell, but I would need the damage. Unless I end up using javelins for the most part, at least until I could create a decent 'Harmony'. Would it be better to go with Vitality, even with a low damage bow? Also, is having both Strafe and Multiple Shot necessary for the build? I don't know if I would end up using both in the end.

I am a big fan of hybrid zon builds so I'll try to answer some of your questions.

I think that fishyzon (LF/FA) would be a little better for a first character after reset. To build a successful Gunslinger you need some balanced gear and a lot of (if not all) points in dexterity, while with fishyzon you just throw in some +skills, maek and you're good to go with str/dex for equipment and rest in vita.

To give you an example, my first char will also be a fishyzon and I'm planning on using something like: Smoke (fhr,@res), Melody (up to +6b&c), titans or any decent +java javelin with lidless wall (+1all, 3-5 maek, +mana) silkweave (5 maek, +mana). All of it seems easly affordable.

As for the Gunslinger with perfect equipment, I totally recommend it. I've never played more fun char than this build. Multi/Strafe is a matter of preference, I was totally satisfied with multi only but there's nothing wrong with using strafe or both.

If however you decide to go with Lf/phys bow from the beginning I think that Harmony would be the best choice, you'll have to decide how much life is enough for your playstyle and split the stats between vita and dex. Might merc can also help with damage, pumping critical strike seems like a good idea since we now have the ability to respec later.

Well I think, especially with scrubby gear early on, that you'd be playing a Gunslinger basically the same as a LF javazon, and only really using Strafe vs LIs, which there arent that many of till you get into Hell mode anyway.

Caster builds always have the advantage early on, as your skills will continue to grow as you level up, unlike phys builds that are more beholden to having a good weapon. Plus its much easier to find some cheap +skills from Spirit, Lore, +amulets, and what have you than it is to find an awesome weapon through Norm and NM.

With respec looking to be ubiquitous now, though, I dont think that there's any reason why you couldnt have it both ways, and build a pure light javazon, and then respec to a gunslinger once you have a decent bow and gear.

Truth, but one thing. Is there any real advantages to the Gunslinger other than it being fun?

Mostly higher leech possibility, more chance of %ctc, CB, CS/DS,... Also less skill intensive (no synergies on multi or strafe) which leaves more points for passives or lightning synergies. At least most builds dat use FA synergise it afaik. You can of course freeze with a lvl 1 FA and cold charms...

Re: Gunslinger (Reset Viable?)

don't forget about the magic arrow which, if you deal high physical damage, will be sufficient.

I think I'll go with full Lightning at first and maybe change it up later, thanks.
