Grief runeword: why on Phaseblade?

Hello. I've been reading lot of guides and threads that recommend make Grief on a Phaseblade over a Berserker Axe for most of the builds out there.
Why is that? The Berserker Axe has more range and damage, so it's because the base ias of the Phaseblade?

Thanks for any input on this!

PS: Sorry for my poor english :X

Yes, it's because of its base speed. For Grief, the base damage of a weapon is rather irrelevant. However, range is a factor for PvP and for WW barbs, but you need at least 34% IAS to reach the final WW breakpoint with a BA.

Thanks for the quick and informative reply

I do not PvP as I play Single Player, and I don't play with Barbarians so I guess Phaseblade is the way to go... I'm far away to make a Grief, but I had the question spinning on my head :p

Thank you!

It's also because it's got no durability; a big thing in PvM, not having to fork out for repairs on your weapon it great. Your weapon will be the item with the fastest durability loss, especially on a fast hitting character like a Zealot.

I realized that a few days ago. Currently I'm running a Fana Zealot and the weapons loose durability veeery fast :p

All I need is a Lo to make one.

So I have done like 5% of the work to make it. Weeee...

Phase Blades have no durability, look cooler, and are faster than BA's. Definitely the way to go.

They both can reach the same speed for zeal/smite. Just need some IAS gear.

PB is the way to go for PvM.

And you need that much dex for maximum blocking anyway.
