Good builds for untwinked Druid in Hell?

What is a good build for an untwinked SP SC PvM druid? Playing in hell with other characters, I'm impressed with hell difficulty and realize its quite impossible to take a poorly thought-out character through hell.

I've read all the Druid guides but so many are for PvP Druids with uber equipment. Which druid builds depend least on great equipment and give good play in Hell? If it is indeed the Wind Druid, then what modifications to the Fenris Wind guide shoudl I make for untwinked PvM play?

And, am I the only one that thinks that the Character guides for Druid builds are, on average, the worst of the seven character classes?

Wind druids do very well untwinked, so I heard.

EDIT: Try AlterEgo's guide too, its a nice untwinked build but sure not an easy one.

Fury werewolf druids are super fun to play, but they're somewhat item dependent if you're looking to play untwinked. Even so, an average weapon will still deal decent damage with fury's nice ED and AR. The good thing about weredruids is they have tons of life, so there's a bit of a safety net when fighting tough boss packs.

The fire elementalist is extremely non-equipment dependent. I've tried one. You can try 10 firestorm, 10 molten boulder, 20 fissure, 20 volcano, 20 dire wolves, and dump the rest in grizzly bear (more damage) or sage (more life).

Fissure acts pretty much just like a blizzard, except lower damage and bigger area of effect. The one and only problem with this build is that it can't deal with something that's FI/PI, but it's not like wind druids can handle CI/PIs easily, either.

I am sure a fire claws bear could work very well too untwinked, but I never tried it. Sure FI's and FI/PI's will be a problem but it could be a fun project.

elemental druids, despite moving up from below necros in the pecking order in 1.09 to actually playable, heres no denying that it is harder and slower than using a fire sorc for example, or anyother equivilent. But if you like druids (uber life does come in handy) then it might be worth a shot.

Try a werebear. You only need to think about PIs and Oks which is actually not too difficult to handle.

Based on what I've heard, windy druids are pretty item-dependent, but much of that isn't too tough to find running NM Meph, then Hell Meph for awhile (with your untwinked character).

As Malachi said, you could take a look at my guide, but I'll warn you that play in Hell is pretty slow. You'll get through, but uber he is not :teeth:

I've never played were-guys, so no comment there.

Maybe. Have you checked out the SP character guides available though our stickied thread? Some are in the Strategy Compendium, and others are not.

Hey, don't diss 1.09 elementalists. :p

If I had 10 elemental skillers, I would've been able to tear cows apart with tornado and geddon like the best of them. ;)

And if 'the best of them' also had 10 skillers, they'd kill so fast in 1.09 cows you'd miss it if you blinked ;)

Going somewhere? :uhhuh:

But to get back on topic, I'd recommend a Wind Druid. I got one to Act 2 Hell before in /p8 all the way, but had to retire him because my sloppy play meant my merc kept dying and eventually bankrupted me.
