Good Act 2 merc setup?

I was thinking Might Merc, with Bramble Armor(hey, on summons, the Iron maiden does work), with a Infinity polearm to allow any Mages extra damage. Apparently Amp Damage works with the damage done to enemies by Iron Maiden. Sound like a plan?

Re: Good Act 2 merc setup?

Bramble is useless. Go with Fort for the extra damage, or Treachery for better attack speed and Fade.

Re: Good Act 2 merc setup?

2 options that I know for summoner's Might merc.

Setup 1
Armor: Fortitude
Weapon: Infinity
Helm: Vampire Gaze

It is important to note that there is a good amount of damage reduction but no faster hit recovery on this setup. It has good defense even though it may not matter much.

Setup 2
Armor: Chains of Honor
Weapon: Infinity
Helm: Guilliames Face

You get a little damage reduction and a good amount of faster hit recovery. Also, you get 75% Crushing Blow, +2 skills which counts towards Might, and 15% Deadly Strike. In my opinion, this one is better than the previous setup.

It is important to note that both of these setups have life leech and good damage on them. And the fact that they both have Infinity is great too.

It is also important to note that Vampire Gaze may not be the best helm choice for the first setup I listed. In any case, the first setup requires a helm with life leech on it, and Vampire Gaze fulfills that requirement nicely, and it has damage reduction.

I do not trust Bramble. Its Thorns aura is, at the most, effective a fraction of the time. I think Chains of Honor or Fortitude are effective the vast majority of the time.

Re: Good Act 2 merc setup?

I don't see the point of the second setup. Fort adds more damage than guillames, and the bonuses of coh except leech are quite miniscule. +2 might does quite little, damage reduction is mostly only good if you have lots of it, the extra res over fort will just be overcapped.

I myself think infy + fort + andy's is the best. Andy gives leech AND ias. The +skills is a bit nice too.

CoH is a common set up for ubers - anyways the 2%sk will add another 40%ed to 16 skeletons... there isn't a huge difference in damage as I see it.

More cb% and some critical strike can't be bad either, Guillaume is a good options for boss fights. Still prefer andys though.

Would prefer CoH, andys and infinity myself... the other set up is way too cheese.

Fort rarely adds more damage than guillames. There are very few foes with enough health that the ED on fort vs the ED from might actually results in an extra hit being necessary yet so little health that the CB from guillames doesn't outstrip the ED of fort all together. +2 to might adds quite a bit of damage it just doesn't all show on the character screen since it is distributed accross the army, the strength on CoH also counts for damage. The extra resistances are useful against conviction and lower resists which are occasionally encountered in normal play, always in uber tristram.

Re: Good Act 2 merc setup?

Mine is:
Might merc w/
Weapon: Pride
Armour: Bramble
Helm: Dream

Pride for the conc aura (plus damage which adds to the might and fanatacism from my beast). Bramble for thorns, I am looking at changing it for CoH though since my skellies are rarely hit now... Dream was more a joke, I just wanted more auras and like it when things die without doing anything when I rush people...I need to change it for a good ll/CB helm...

Re: Good Act 2 merc setup?

Pride is not good. It has no weapon ed whatsoever, so the damage is pathetic. And when it does kill an enemy, it will most likely shatter. It also doesn't have conviction, which increases ce damage.

So when you compare it to infinity, it will take a long time. To get a lower chance. Of a weaker ce.

That kinda sucks
