gem farming?

well seeings you can get a hr with only 25 pgems or so, i figured id start gem farming. what build would be best for this?

thanks for any suggestions....(of course once i start this, the ladder will reset)

The Cow Level will drop more Flawless Gems than any place else, per time period, so just go collect them and cube 'em up.

Also, Norm Forges will always drop one pgem and two flawless, so every three forges you'll have (essentially) five pgems. Just a thought.

In truth, I have no clue.
I'd recommend that if you can't kill Hell cows as quickly as NM cows that NM cows would be a better bet. I say we wait until someone with in depth knowledge adds their input before we make any conclusions.

never really tried. mostly people dont collect the gems, and i just thoughtlessly pick them up. but yes, i notice that the cow lvl has more gem drops. im not sure if more gems drop from hell cows though. i think your best bet would be to combine cows and rushing people for forge, just to have some variety.

thanks for the quick replies guys.

You know, that seems somewhat reasonable even if its false.

Wouldn't hell cows be better in the long run though? You'd most likely be able to get some items that you can trade for.

To give a bit of a different answer, I'd honestly think you'd be better doing normal MF runs, or whatever else you do to earn currency.

Then, trade off whatever you can for HRs to buy gems in quantities of 40 on Bnet. You can get trades very quickly, and you make a 15 gem profit per HR. If you don't have HRs to spend, then Cows are definitely a good bet.

I've been offering 1 HR per 25-35 Pgems (depending on bulk) on East Ladder forum for the last month or so. To me it's worth the extra cost to avoid the hassle of moving the gems from my HR mule to my Gem mule after every trade, so I can spend that time doing things that are more fun. :)

I heard the gem in chat is used to get into something called the Secret Cow Level. But I bet it's fake, just like in D1.

Wouldn't you need someone to give you their normal forge for that?

You could always rush people. With my somewhat cheap hammerdin, I can rush them in 5-10 minutes?

I suppose, seems like cows would be quicker... well, maybe not.

And there's the added risk of people ditching and not giving you the Forge....

Very few people skip on the Norm Forge. They usually only skip the Hell Forge, just because 99% of people out there don't get that Hell Forge isn't going to drop you 10 HRs...but whatever. Norm Forge, theoretically, is the safest way to gain PGems. No matter what, if you're rushing yourself at least (get two CD keys and use Orphan's method), you are gonna get 1.66 PGems after A4. With cows...no clue.

Even if Norm Forge's drops are relatively cruddy, you'll still find people that ditch, even if it's just to be an ***.

True, it could be random. In a cow game in nm, I once had it so I got around 5-6 pgems after transmuting all those flawless. Next game I made I got like 1.

Also, I believe that the more people that need the quest, the more gems/runes drop. I'm not positive on that, but its what I've witnessed happening so far when I'm rushing a group of people. Can anyone confirm?
