Fishymancer advice

Howdy,

As some of you doesn't know what Fishymancer is for, I'll go ahead and brief it to you before starting asking questions.

Fishymancer is basically investing their points heavily on Raise Skeletons and Skeleton Mastery along with Corpse Explosion. Many people use this to get hefty start because they're not exactly gear depends and you can basically fight Diablo naked.

But when I met other Necromancer last night, he invested all of his points in Iron Golem, Golem Mastery, and Corpse explosion (With Amplify curse). He was able to do Hell Chaos run without relying on his skeletons (He never had any skeletons to start with.)

My questions is, since I already have 20 points in RS, SM, and half points in CE. Should I start investing my remaining points in Iron Golem and Golem Mastery or will that "hybrid" build get screwed up?

I also have little off-topic question but I received Homuculus from a kind person last night and I was wondering if I should socket it and put something in it, if so, what should be in it?

Re: Fishymancer advice

Well, you have spent 60 points, out of the ~100 you have available. You can afford another 20 in iron golem, 1 in your favourite curses and the rest into golem mastery.

I've heard however that golems are difficult to die but can't kill a thing, too :p Better use an editor and make a character in single player to test it out.

He had a different build, not at all like a fishymancer then. You -could- invest in Iron Golem, but to be honest it's not required. I only put a single point in iron golem and my +skills were enough to keep him alive (same for golem mastery). My guess is he used the golem as a powerhouse tank, one that could not be killed by Iron maiden curses (unlike Skeletons, who CAN die by iron maiden). Still, I'd prefer the skeletons, simply because 10-15 skeletons with high resist/mastery can overrun the CS without any big problems. I'd recommend to use Attract at some point as well, to keep the enemies away from you. Fire Golem's aura also attracts the attention of enemies.

Re: Fishymancer advice

As the necromancer with Iron Golem build said, "Yes, my Iron Golem may hit like a girl. After all, he is designed to be a powerhouse tank and that is the purpose! Every mobs is suppose to hit him and die fast due to his damages deflective (Thorn aura)"

After a few thoughts, I would rather save my points on something else instead of Iron Golem. I prefer to make other Necromancer that will focus primary on Iron Golem and Golem Mastery.

As for other question that has been left unanswered. Should I socket my Homunculus shield and what should I put it in? I also have Boneflame with +3 Skills, should I socket that instead of Homunculus?

Re: Fishymancer advice

well I prefer the boneflame. It has less compatibility with block%, but the extra skills are very welcome. You could socket the Boneflame with an Um like I did, if your resists are a bit on the low side, but if you're going for the Homonculus I don't see why you'd want to socket it, or with what. The question you should ask yourself is if you NEED to socket it with anything?

I cant imagine anything dying from his thorns aura, even combined with Iron Maiden. But then again I never really tried a iron golemancer....

Re: Fishymancer advice

Well I am using Homunculus right now because the Boneflame level is too high for me to use it. I will go ahead and have the Boneflame socket and put the Um runes on it and wait until I'm ready to use it. Thanks for your help.
