A pratchett fan here.

Just finished reading Going Postal and The Last Continent. Funny stuff as always. Good Omens is also great. If you liked it then you'd probably like Neil Gaiman's books (American Gods, Neverwhere & Stadust), not to forget the Sandman.

G'day, no worries. I going to Dijabringabeeralong.

Huge Terry Pratchet fan here. Been reading him since I high school when I had to sneek his books out of the library. (Well there was a problem with overdue books, and fines I didn't want to pay, so I "borrowed" borrowed books, and the funny part was when I didn't use the card, I returned them well before what the "due date" would have been. I just hate being pushed into doing something. sorry bit off track there.)

I have read almost all of h is discworld books (as well as couple others loved good omens, and appreciated that introduction into Neil Gaiman's world...Neil is a genius) I think I prefer granny weatherwax stories to the rincewinds, but they are all good, and my favorite Pratchet line is from neither one. It's from Jingo (perhaps best described as a "colon and nobs story") anyway the line is:

If you build a man a fire he's warm for a day.
Set fire to the man and he's warm for the rest of his life.

It is just to perfect a preversion fo a modern sayng, and I use it every chance I get. (which I admit isn't often, but if you try hard enough you can occasionally fit it into a casual conversation....although I reccomend waiting until you are married and not try it during dates.)

I'm very much into the discworld, too. Best Storys for me are the watch ones. just love the dialouges between colon and nobs.

thank good i have a book store here in munich that even has an english fantasy corner. i would be lost otherwise.

have a good day

Ah, good one, strebo. Had forgot that one

This is a good quote from the man himself:

Terry Pratchett learns that Naomi Campbell has written a book...

"I think I would like to go into modelling. Of course, I don't know how to do it, and wouldn't be any good at it if I did, so I'm going to employ someone to walk the catwalks on my behalf. It would still be me, of course..."

Major pTerry fan here. My favourite sub-set is the Death books. I think the character of Death is brilliant. I was first introduced to them by reading The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic which as any fan knows are actually quite different from most of the series.

Still waiting on enough money to refill my collection (so far I have bought about 4 copies of The Colour of Magic and still don't possess one in the library! Too many people like it after borrowing it I guess. *shrug* At least it keeps Terry in shoes I guess *grin*)

To read: Monstrous Regiment

Currently working my way through the Wizard books... ie Wizards Bane, Wizardry Compiled, Wizadry Consulted, etc

Drinks are on me!

A large ginger bear wanders in to the place and up to the Bar. Dropping a large heavy bag of pGems on the countertop he says loudly "Pour everyone what they will, 'keep! Drinks are on me tonight! I've got a job!"

"And make mine a Glenmorangie 18 yo, straight up, double and give me an icecube - one cube only please! - Oh - and you might as well leave the bottle!"

:drink: :drink:

Terry is one of my favourite authors too. ATM reading the Moving Pictures and I'm still missing 13 of the Discworld books. Best so far have been the Witch books, NannyOgg and the lot. :flip:
