You guys were busy here in the bar whilst I was sleeping/working. I would have liked to have responded much sooner. I find it kind of funny that tonight at work there was very little to do, but I was more busy than ever. I got pulled aside to assist in tasks that I'm not even supposed to do. So while everyone else got an extra hour of break time tonight, I basically worked through it all just to make it through all the tasks I had been assigned.
My reaction to all of it: I've now started my weekend, and I'm four beers in, so apparently I'm enjoying the fact I'm no longer at work.
Best fortune cookie message I've ever had: "You are the best at everything." That, too, made me laugh. I kept that in my wallet for a lo-o-ong time.
JayGun was right about the Dim Sum, in that it was all basically steamed dumplings. I've started enjoying the basic Chinese dumpling in the last couple years. I don't like onions, so sometimes I find the scallions to be too overbearing. These ones were prime, though. Plus, they had some that looked somewhat like crowns, so that the dough came to points and you could see the filling when looking at it from above. But it was all great. I'll be hitting that place up way before I go back to a fast-food Chinese place.
As a quick aside to Monsieurs JayGun and FastE: I would be incredibly honored to have you both visit. As much as I'd like to see FastE put his money toward something more useful in his life, I can't say that I didn't get excited when he was saying he was giving some serious thought toward taking a trip state-side. I have to admit that I don't have the most accommodating space for two visitors (I don't even have a couch for someone to crash on! I
am about to get two loveseats... :dontknow

. And I don't know how good a representative I would be for the greater CapTexas area. That said, there's very little that I can think of at the moment that would make me more anticipatory for the future. We'd probably spend the nights drinking/watching bad movies/playing cards/going to diners at 2am/smoking cigs (sorry FastE, but it'll happen), while the days would be about recovery from drinking/driving around town/mini-golf/resupplying beer. If that sounds like fun... well, I've earned nearly two weeks of paid time off, I'll probably be free weekends regardless of whether or not I'm fired soon, and I could use a couple friends with whom to enjoy being alive. Whether this would happen in mere weeks or even years from now, I doubt there'd be many other experiences as pleasurable as this.
@pman: A colon-busting 1.5 pound burger sounds like the very last thing I'd want before I got onto an airplane. Maybe that's just me... :scratchchin:
@JayGun: $13k a year in rent?! Is that including utilities? Still, that's nuts. I don't live in an extravagant part of town, but I'm guessing a year here will cost me $8,400 for the year in rent/utilities. ...Maybe you should be my neighbor instead of living in a city you probably don't love that much... And by the by, hope your interview went well! There's a celebratory beer here waiting for you when you get back!
edit: Gaah! WoT, anybody? Y'all'll have to suffer through it, spanky! Oh, and beer me, please. Dos Equis amber, por favor.
