Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

<cough> McDonald's <cough>

thats cool man, your a manager too so.

The only reason i dont want to work there is i applied there when i was in college, got told theyd phone me back for a second interview then never did, they hired someone dumber then me >.>

Plus I don#t know how id handle the pressure and the hours stood behind the counter or doing the food or cleaning

Though if I dont find a job before the end of the year, i think im going to bite the bullet

I'm a hypocrite. I bought 8 cans, it was on special offer.

Haaaa!!! Too funny.

Who needs daily threads. Bar FTW!

:dizzy: :ashamed: ...Okay, I'll slink off to my own corner of the forum, then... :weep:

Off to work. Someone hand me a coffee to go?

*Slides TRM a coffeee*

Hope you like it strong- it's the only way I make it.

@Fast Eddie- Honestly, at this point, I'd take a job at McDs in a flash. I'm trying to find work in a hospital, but that is beginning to seem well-nigh impossible until I finish school and get my SurgTech certification. Being unemployed is definitely worse than working fast food.

@scottee: As long as it's not fast food where you have to dress up like a chicken or something.

they hired someone dumber then me

<cough> McDonald's <cough> living up to stereotypes <cough>

My girlfriend is the only person at work with a degree (until I get mine). I've said this before but I'll say it again, one girl actually tells me off for using long words. The amount of hairdressers that are using McDonald's to pay for their Hair & Beauty courses is unreal (only four, but it's a very small store). The BM's memos are quite badly spelled, the angrier she is the worse the spelling is. Last week she misspelt her name at the end of one.

In the UK it's far better to work at a company-owned store than a franchised store, and the flexibility offered by the strange shift patterns can help someone at uni/studying/with other responsibilities. The smell is what gets you.

Enough shop talk, I have four days off. Games and tidying FTW!

Green tea. Extra green.

Last night I dreamt that someone had started a new Etdlahq Bar here in the SPF. . . strange.

So. Stepdad asked me a bunch of questions about what computer, why, etc. This morning. Nice of him to show concern, yes? Well, it turns out, YES!

He and momma went off to lunch. . . and came back with a new 13" ub mbp. He took his academic discount and got himself an ipod touch. I paid him a fair amount for the mbp (and saved a fair amount over what I would've paid myself), and then spent the last couple of hours teaching him how to play with the iPod, and intermittently setting up the mbp. I'm typing this on him now (and it's definitely a 'him'). He needs a name.

I also found 4 toons on the old iMac, and will likely start up D2 and take a look at them to see how royally I effed them up back in the day. Good times.

Now, I'm debating whether to have a beer or go to the pub. Decisions decisions. Momma will be out and about tonight, and if I stick around here I'll be the iPod guru for stepdad. . . so I guess I'm off to the pub: Good times!

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal JayDumDiddlyGun. I'm glad you're back on your virtual feet, or something. Cheap beer gets me drunk. Duhhhh...

Pet peeve: you're/your "confusion" by English-speakers. Too many 'expletive deleted' brackets would follow.

I've redone the first two levels of SWAT4 and got 100/100 ranking. Sweet! That'll go downhill pretty quick. PJ was talking about Kingpin when we MP'd. I wanted to install it but it wasn't in the boxes I spring-cleaned today, maybe tomorrow. Never got to play Fallout 3. It was 7PM and then the Nazi Zombies came and stole my evening.

Good luck with your toon Spudnik J Junior. Have a cheap nasty beer on me.

Sold my X360, 2 controllers, a charger and 27(!) games for £135! Although I did keep two games back that I can sell to a friend individually for a much better deal. He's offered £25 for the two when they're like £9 brand new on Amazon. Shhh. Candy. Baby. Etc. Don't judge me, we're in a recession and the guy didn't do his research.

On another note, four work colleagues in total have joined my aikido class, with perhaps another to follow. I thought this would be fun, as of course they are my friends, however as raw beginners they show no respect for the art, and it's yet another situation where I am ranked above them (at work they are all just random staff members, except one who just got promoted to manager, and gets paid seven pence less than me; in the class I'm just a white belt but I've been there ~5 months). It's strange: I started aikido when I was in a *very* dark place, and it lifted me from there, and now these immature idiots have invaded my dojo. On an even more selfish note, I'm embarrassed I may have to do my yellow belt grading in front of them.

Two favourite songs of the day: The Verve 'Lucky Man' and Benny Benassi vs Sir Mix-A-Lot 'Benny Got Back'.

Enjoy the pub JSG.

The pub was loads of fun: I walked in, looked around, saw no friends/acquaintances, took a seat at the bar, and had 5 pints and a sandwich. None of my pubuddies(tm) entered while I was there. Oh well. It's probably better for them, as I would've 1)complained about my recent computer woes and 2)gloated about the new mbp. He really needs a name.

So now I'm on the LongHammer and hoping FE is enjoying the cheapies.

It's time to fire up some D2 on this bad boy (not his name, no way) and see how well he handles some hot 2001 action. Full report to follow in the Mac Guide, if there's anything to report.

Unfortunately I am, although my mouth tastes like Horizan's (sp?) Urinal.

Why not call the MBP Etdlahq, after the Bar?

I've found the rank-up servers for CoD5. Legal cheating. I'm drunk.

Well, glad to hear that the cheap beer is doing it's job FE! :D

Have another on me!

and etdlahq sounds like a fairly good name for the mbp, but I can't pronounce etdlahq. . . any suggestions? I need to be able to refer to him as something other than "the Lappy" or "the mbp" or somesuch. Hummm. . .

And, I'm happy to report that D2 works brilliantly under Snow Leopard and on the newish mbps. I don't know if its the graphics card or the os or the processor or what, but it rocks.

On the macbook (the old disgruntled lappy), when I started D2 the fans would ramp up to high and the the lappy would get ludicrously hot as the 2006 computer/software attempted to reconcile itself with a video game from 2001. And this was at the lowest possible settings.

With the as-yet-unnamed mbp, no fans, no heat, slightly greater fps (fast enough that the game stutters a bit on occasion as it attempts to keep up with the video card), all at the highest settings: NICE. (D2 does chew through the battery though. . . but not like on the macbook.)

I'm happy, and I'll take another LongHammer.

Edit: and my old D2 toons, vol. 1: First up? Dirty***** (her actual name is unprintable: what was I thinking?): TS/DT/DC/PH/CoS-1; CS/CM 10; WB-4; SM-2, and level 24 or 25. Again, what was I thinking? It's amazing that she got that far.

Also, meet Deleuze, who apparently wants to be a Dentist of some sort: 7 teeth, 1 CE, 3 Clay Golem, 1 Amp/IM. Jeez. I think I had read some guide or something from 1.07 or whatever when IM (in combination with something) was unstoppable. Ugh.

I'll be back shortly with an update on the other two: Adorno and Goat****** (where did I come up with these names? Obviously, Dirty***** and Goat****** were from ~2003/4 ish; Adorno and Deleuze are more recent. . . I think Adorno actually may have been moved over to the macbook in 2006ish and became my only pat.)

Well, I was mistaken. . . Adorno was the name of my FrostZealot pat, but this Adorno is a barb and looks like he's going for Concentrate. . . but with no idea of synergies. Synergies were extant in 1.10 yes? Jeez.
Goat****** was going to be a Tank Bear (from the strategy guide that came with the game and was horribly out of date by the time I started actually looking at it. . . )

Oh well. Dirty***** and Adorno actually have some nice-ish gems/runes on hand, which may make their way into a stash somewhere before I delete these toons. Good times.

If only they made liquid pwn. I'll have a Relentless or three.

Rawr.

Life ist gud, ja?

*slides FE a Relentless*

How goes the floor rip-up, FE?

The reinstalling, updating, and rebuilding of the new lappy continues. But I've been largely successful thusfar. Good times.

I'll have one more cup of coffee, before switching to iced tea. Yum.

coffee for J6G, can I have a bottle of water, thanks.

Today started my new project. I'm going to quit smoking. Luckily, I have things to do tomorrow for the whole day, so I guess it's easier to quit. I find myself smoking the most, when I'm just chilling at home and have nothing important to do.

Geez, I'm starting to feel like a hippie or something. No alcohol, no cigarettes, no meat/chicken/fish... What's next Nekkie?!

@Pijus, I've been a vegetarian for almost 4 years now and have had no problems. Actually feels like I'm healthier than before that.

@lhtb, some people consider chicken separate from beef and pork, but for me they're all meet. Just wanted to specify that I don't eat any kind of meat.

You guys are crazy with your sunburnt chicken meat. Speaking of itches, my tattoo is acting up.

@JSG: It went well, I did half of it. Made a small post about it in the daily. May do the other half either tmrw or Friday, depending on what the laydee is doing.

CoD5 went well, but it can hang when I switch servers. I'll blame it on the old MOBO, that way I won't feel bad about buying a new one. Might play one level of SWAT and then... Getting Up? Hmm...

@Neksja: Why did you decide to give up meat? You don't eat fish either?

I managed to confine my coca-cola addiction to the movie theater. I'm taking on 'eating more than I need to' now, which is going okay. Also trying to stop drinking excesive amounts of coffe, thats not going well :D

Good luck with that, hopefully you'll have more determination than me, the longest I've managed is 2 months. It's been the drinking that's got me both times so far, so it's probably a good thing you stopped that first.

Meh, I hear this. I'm not overweight for my height, but parts of my body are disproportionate. I had just bought enough cereal and rice to last a week or more. It's day two of that diet, and on my way back from birthday gift shopping I brought home a pizza. :shhh:

Glad to hear your home projects are going well, FastE. You haven't gone into detail about your awesome new tattoo yet. Share?

JayGun: A name that a geeky friend of mine gave his cat is one I've always liked in my own nerdy way. If I were you, I'd name your new 'puter Qwerty!
