Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

Tell the friend from number 3 that he has ways backwards, beeing drunk doesn't excuse you from anything, unless someone else tied you to a chair, made you drunk and then set you loose (or something similar) else you got yourself drunk and its your problem anything you do even when drunk is on your account.

Happy Monday, bar. It has been so quiet in here. Let's make some noise!

Where is my darling Cyrax? All the ice in his drink has melted and I may need to down it for him or risk wasting it. :p

Em, you need something nice and comforting, may I suggest hot whiskey with cloves, sugar and lemon? Wonderful for what ails you.

Vivi - you poor thing. Hope you aren't hurt too bad. I've been on Vicodin all week for my back and it has helped a lot.

Been a while since I served any food in the bar.
*sets out lavish buffet with French toast, pancakes, fresh berries, whipped cream, eggs, bacon, potatoes, coffee, tea, hot chocolate.

It's breakfast time here, y'all, so that's what I'm serving.

:)

ahh... I'll have that nice buffet!! And since it's all virtual I can have red wine with it!! RL I think it would be a strange mix...

Well Em that would be upto the pancakes, try this for a change:
Take some berries heat and mash them, pour in some red wine (fruity, not to acidic) and season to taste, let it reduce so that it resembles syrup, add that to the pancake batter (leaving out the same amount of moisture you would otherwise use, not all offcourse you still need to make pancakes out of it, it doesn't need to be overwhelming just adding some flavour) the "rest" goes in the fridge and is made into sorbet (if you have an ice cream maker go for ice cream).
Make the pancakes. (optional: Flambé them with some brown rum, make sure the rum is all gone.)

Serve with the sorbet (or icecream, if you have the icecream some chocolat sauce made from very dark chocolat (75%+ cacao) is a really nice addition) and a nice glass of the same red wine (or something that resembles it) and there you have a wonderfull dessert or a very rich breakfast that goes well with red wine.

Its all in the cooking what goes well with what.

If you'd rather have something not so filling and that goes with a white wine (nothing to dry, preferable something citrus flavoury), make it with lemon, orange, mandarin or lime zest and juice add enough white sugar to balance it out and have it with sorbet from said fruit (or champagne sorbet).

I'd use rum or wodka and change the sugar into honey.

The greatest spammer that this forum has ever seen, the creator of the big bang, the man who married a door and still loves said door.
I could go on for a while.

He is better known as oldstegs and he is dearly missed.

Drystan, looking at my reg date and post count I don't think it's very surprising that you haven't seen me around before :)

Since you asked: I have a pretty long (and interrupted) background. Like many if not most still somewhat active people I had periods during which I played a lot (probably too much :p), and also periods of sometimes years without touching the game. Started with D1 actually, or more precisely Hellfire, over LAN with a friend. Then, a couple of days after its release another friend of mine got D2 and I watched him play a Barbarian through normal (with itching fingers :p), played 2 or 3 characters with friends over LAN once I got the game myself, without ever beating Hell. LoD was released sometime early in the summer (of 2001?), I played 1 character in SP and then got on Bnet (1.09 was already rolled out). Played softcore for a bit and then switched over to hardcore, never went back. 1.09 was my most active period, had a pretty big circle of d2 buddies. Stopped playing for a couple of years and got back into it in 1.11-1.13 (still on Bnet). Stopped playing again almost 3.5 years ago. D3 didn't look like a game I'd enjoy, so I never started it.
Then, last November I was home a lot, since I broke my wrist and couldn't work. Couldn't properly play either, but I suddenly felt the urge to play some D2 again. Of course all my Bnet accounts and characters had expired, and since all of my buddies had moved on to D3 or other endeavours I went back to SP and started a char in 1.07 :)

I never had an account here or on another English speaking Diablo forum before, which I kind of strange, because I was quite active in a German D2 community and another huge (non-d2) English gaming community. I did read the occasional thread in the Amazon Basin though, as well as some fascinating Jarulf posts which were linked elsewhere.

I'm recovering from my fall. I'm not recovering from the bowel issues, it's still bad and I'm in a lot of pain.
Said friend had a good thought after my cold shoulder and realised that our friendship is worth more than that. He still found it hard to admit, but I told him it's why I hate, hate, HATE it when people drink too much. It makes me not even want to tolerate someone just having one beer - because too often, or always lately it seems, they can't keep it to one beer and overdo it and become annoying.

But no. I'm the annoying one as I dont drink so I have to put up with it, serves me for not having a drunk sense of humour.
Said friend was ashamed. But had mostly been sick the next day too of course.

Kamap! Hidden talents! You will give Noodle a run for his money as most talented and creative SPF chef. Cooking is basically just work for me. We should add a recipe section somewhere.

I've had such a horrible year so far that I swear someone put a gypsy curse on me. Who was it? 'Fess up.

I saw that on Ninemsn, BC2. Funny irony.

*cuddles Diablo plushie*

Stessed, worn out, frustrated, irritable, everything related.

@Yann - Thanks! It's nice to get to see other D1/Hellfire players back in the day.

@Yann: if you play hc and want to mp/trade you should join the hanachi crew

I could be mistaken, but didn't we have a separate recipe thread? I think some peeps in the bar were talking about stuff like that and made a thread out of it.

Trainer: "And now enough theory class, we'll put this into practice. Come gather around."
Student: "So this cord is what triggers the bomb belt, right?"
Trainer: "Oh no, you should pay attention! See that red light blinking? That means it's remote detonated."
*pulls out remote control*
Trainer: "All your belts are controlled by this little device. Once i push the button you'll experience the power of bomb belt. Everyone ready?"
Student 2: "Shouldn't we wait? Max went to the bathroom."
Trainer: "You're right. Can't have him miss the most important part of the class."
*Max returns*
Trainer: "Everyone here now? Good. Let's do this in 3..2..1..class dismiss...BOOM!"

22*70 = 1540, thats the amount of virgins those terrorist wont ever get!
The trainer really screwed up there.

I like food, I like cooking (special stuff) my wife is much better with the normal all day cooking, I don't cook enough though to be really good at it, I always have to check the recipes again and sometimes botch up, I can make some nice things though, mostly desserts.
I've also got a creative mind so I'm not scared to try new things or experiment with a recipe, or make something from scratch myself.

It was Durf Goldtru, its always Durf.

I'm the exception to the rule, I can drink one beer and just keep it at one beer. Has been a while since I drink any alcohol though, you all know why if you need a reminder let me refer you to the DoOL.

Mmm.. that is rather normal. The problem is that someone needs to do the every day cooking: fun or not. And I don't know how many couples I have talked to or met where "she is much better at the everyday stuff. I like cooking on Saturdays. Or making barbecues" (and by bbq they mean the meat. Potatoes or stuff that goes with is made by the little Mrs...

*grr..mmmhhhhmmrr** (the feminist in me shakes her head in sorrow and frustration)

Easy enough for me. I don't even drink one. Don't like it. Don't like wine either. What do people that don't like those drink?

Sorry kamap, but i'm not feeling sorry for you having to hump your wife. ;) Unless she's really ugly, but since you like her i'm assuming that's not the case.

*grr..mmmhhhhmmrr** (the feminist in me shakes her head in sorrow and frustration)

Don't let GT hear that. She really doesn't like feminists! Come to think of it, i don't either.

She is better at it cause she does it more, the times I do get to cook it are things I know I can make or that is basically just heating things up.
I can cook, I just can't get it all ready at the same time (lack of experience), so one pot dishes, stews and the like are mostly made by me (cept wok, she likes to wok).
My wife is also a little bit of a control freak, so when I do something slightly wrong, or ask how I should do a certain thing, she'll take over and wont let me at it again.
For bbq's I help with everything, from preparing the zuchinni to the barbequeing of the meat if I'm allowed to help that is, to many people in a kitchen is to many people in a kitchen.

So its kind of a cirular and mixed problem, I can't cook as good as my wife, so when I do cook its mostly something that I already can make which doesn't teach me anything new, when I do try something new and I ask for help I stop cooking cause my wife takes over, which again doesn't teach me anything new, if I don't ask for help it will be botched (most of the time) then it did teach me something new but not what I wanted to learn.
Also we are almost always home at the same time (working at the same "company") so I can't get home early to start cooking and just do my thing without her beeing there.

We both don't make a problem of it and if she doesn't want to cook, I'll cook while she guides me trough it (which eventually may lead to her taking over).

This evening I'll be making tomat farcie (something I introduced and we both like).
Take some tomatoes (2-4 per person depending on how big eaters and the size of the tomatoes).
Cut them in half (horizontally) and spoon out the seeds into the baking tray you will use.
Get some minced meat (about 100-150 gram per person depending on how big eaters and the size of the tomatoes) and season to taste: rosemary, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, tabasco or pilli pilli is what we normally use but any other seasoning that goes with tomato and minced meat is good too (try lavender for a change), roll the meat in to balls (big enough to fit in a half tomato) and put them in the half of the tomato.
Put a little bit of breadcrumbs on the ball of meat and a little bit of butter.
Put those in the baking tray and that goes in a preheated oven (180-220°C) for 40-80 minutes (you'll have to experiment with the time and heat so your minced meat has a decent crust on top but the rest isn't to dry.
Serve with anything potatoish (potato with skin or without, fries or croquettes) or brown bread, pasta might work aswell but I do not like it with pasta.
Any sauce that you might like to go with it (mayo, garlic, ...).

Simple yet tasty and doesn't require alot of work.

@Cyrax: I do, I really do and it certainly aint the case but if we didn't have those problems I would have both, I could drink a beer or a whiskey or something alcoholic now and then and also hump my wife and believe me humping is more fun when its a spur of the moment thing then when it is on doctors orders.

Not Hell's Kitchen, surely! Are you that nearby? Wait, does that area even exist anymore? Seems like it's main job was exporting toughened poets and writers. :p

More snow expected on Thursday so I assume they will cancel school NOW. Because we cannot handle snow. In New England. In February. It's the Snowpocalypse, everyone run to your zombie preparation kits and be ready to defend your homesteads! Unless there is something good on TV! If it weren't for the Wii, I really would be a zombie by now with all the time I've spent cooped up with a totally wild almost 8 year old.

Only 1 Vicodin yesterday! The wine is calling my name once again ... hello, old friend! ;)
