Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes

I prefer the more competitive styles, up to a certain point, full contact is alright every so often but i prefer light contact sparring styles with full contact reserved for tournaments.

I also find it silly you can be a blackbelt within 2 years.

My son does TKD, he likes it. I find it pretty mind numbing to sit and watch for 45 minuets.

I really only like the original Dew, tried at least 4-5 other kinds and never cared much for them. But there was a time when I was allergic to Caffeine and couldn't drink any dew for several years, but I can now, at least in moderation.

ahh i see.
How many flavours of dew are there? In Australia we only have the slightly greenish original mountain dew.

I think the current ones are the original green, Code Red, and some blue kind as well. They often have promotion flavors though. Is there a white kind also? Maybe someone else knows if that's still around. Code Red and the original are the way to go though.

At my aikido dojo (which was of course the Sports Hall of the local secondary school) there were a couple of higher belts who went up country to take their exams, because they knew the sensei was a little lax, and they wanted to earn it.

In TKD I got up to red tags. I can't remember having to spar for exams, which I was grateful for, but the centre was a good three hour drive away. I'm not sure if my dad was happy to drive or whether my mum made him drive, but I got always got there.

I'd like to try something a little more... exotic, like kali or eskrima. Maybe now I'm in a bigger city they'll offer that here. I would try MMA if only for the level of fitness required, but I couldn't be doing with all the testosterone-fuelled hotheads.

There are currently 4 flavored Dews: WhiteOut, LiveWire, Code Red, and Voltage. WhiteOut is like a citrus flavored Dew or something, but I don't really like it.

So I inquired as to where RCG is lately, and it turns out she's back in town, and going to the old school again. Stranger still, we may have the same schedule, just different classes. I said we should hang out sometime, and she responded by saying that we should do that, and that her fiancé wants to meet me. I have no idea whatsoever as to what to do about that. It's not that I'm worried about meeting him, I'm more worried about the protocol of such a meeting. It's about the most adult thing I've done, the meeting of a fiance, and I am not a very adult kind of person.

Anyway, another Dew, barkeep! Oh, and FE, do you still do aikido? We haven't heard about that in a while.

Good luck. I would say something dismissive and generic, like 'you'll be fine' but I have little idea what to suggest for such an encounter.

Also, being grown-up is overrated, but the missus still likes me to show it once in a while.

I don't do any MA currently, still looking for a club/centre. I'd like to pop back to Cornwall on a Wednesday and say hi to everyone at the club, and throw down for a couple hours, but petrol's a little expensive at the moment, for such a fleeting trip. Obviously I'd pop in and see my mummy, and visit my daddy at the cemetery, but I am still unemployed. Not much happening in Eddie's world except volunteering at a charity shop and thinking about making some more Let's Play videos.

Take an old medieval style gauntlet. you know the rest PCM.

But mostly just be polite and then bag him out to your friends later if you feel the need (unless RCG will find out from them)

I've looked at MMA but as FE said it's full or lets say morons.

Finally got around to properly looking for MA clubs in Plymouth, after five months here, three of those spent unemployed. It turns out that typing 'martial arts Plymouth' was very simple, and believe me I've facepalmed myself enough for all of you. There's a dedicated MA centre a couple miles from me that offers Jeet Kune Do, Eskrima, Capoeira and Wing Chun. These are styles I'd never even seen offered in Cornwall, let alone had I lived near a local school. Awesomeness may commence later this week. The GF has indicated she'd like something physical like kickboxing, which I'd do, but if they offer a generic membership package I may have tasters at a few styles.

Good luck with the new MA, FE! I have to get back into aikido. There's a dojo near where I moved to, but I just lost tract of time and haven't gotten around to it. It's my new New Years resolution. ;) (Even though I don't make them.)

Wing Chun
Everybody have fun tonight! Everybody Wing Chun tonight!

I'm off to bed now. Class tomorrow, then buying a lab coat and then home and trainer and stuff. College situation is at a standstill lately, so maybe I will develop that a little further. Or maybe I'll watch TV and eat cottage cheese. Goodnight Bar.

EAT COTTAGE CHEESE!

my capslock was accidently on, i left it cos it looks cooler.

Capoeira looks alot of fun. But on the other hand i've woken up this morning and my hips are killing me, not used to all the twisting and bending going on

*would like to order some tea, but doesn't see a barman* Who is the barman nowadays anyway? And whatever happened to the EU corner?

Mhmm, maybe I should take over W_m's cookie duties?

*lassoes Sid to a chair* stay a while sugar *pours tea*...*into a boot*

i do enjoy cookies. I got the wife a mixmaster for xmas i think she's getting sick of me bringing home stuff to make cakes and cookies. I tell her it's her fault for wanting a mixer but that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks doll, much appreciated, especially the additional flavouring...

So whatever did happen to the EU corner?

Also, your postcount, sir, has absolutely gone through the roof! I can still remember a time when my spam... errr contributions were about as many as yours.

I need more....something. Mondays are my hell day of the week with class from 10-4 and work from 5-10:30, and this week was even worse as I had a test in my 11:30 class to study for and only got 3 hours of sleep (asleep from 2-5). That would all be fairly doable, except for the fact that I also have a test today that I'm now in the process of studying for. So last night I got home for work around 10 (got off a littler early), passed out, woke up at 4 am and have been going since.

I would not recommend these sleep habits to anyone.

ahcw: I've got a sock in a brick that may help you sleep...or it could help persuade your teachers to organize their testing schedule into a little more friendly fashion.

nice to see you again Sidhe

I love bricks that are cast around socks. :whistling:

@Sid: we turned the EU corner into a pool table area when all the EU's vanished. Kind of like the Entwives from Lord of the Rings. They vanished and we can't find them.\

There is a guy i work with and he took 3 months off to study for end of year exams for uni. he failed one and then didn't turn up for the re test the following week. Now he gets another re test because he took in a note from his boss saying he took time off to study and still failed. seems wrong to me, if i was a prof i'd be more lenient on people who had to work at test time. People who took time off to study and still failed, i'd laugh those people out of my office. or hit them with a brick in a sock

Hard to find good help nowadays.

The EU lounge is now a poolroom. You would not believe the tonnage of Toppo droppings they found under the floorboards when they did the remodel. He must have been peeping up through the cracks in the floor for years!
