Etdlahq Memorial Bar - your shelter from forum crashes continued

PC yes, and definitely happy to start a new char with some D3 MP as well. I just found out we had some hidden AUS servers, so I'll be playing around with the servers to see my ping (not that I'm too fussy with that.)
I would not play D3 HC, simply because of latency and lag issues. A bad lag spike hits, and we already suffer with bad ping, and it's GG. And, as you mentioned, the higher difficulty is simply because of too many one-hit KO's, but I'd still give it a go if I could off-line.

On the char creation screen, with difficulties, it advises to choose Hard if you already have some legendaries from Reaper of Souls, and Expert if you have items already set out, socketed with gems. Yeah, now I've looked it it will definitely be upping the difficulty, and now it's supposed to be harder than it is. Still, HARD should be NORMAL - Hard should not 6-second beat Act bosses. XD

A combination of poor performance and dumb mechanics in PoE have brought me back to the loving embrace of D2 again. So set 'em up barkeep.

There's a difference between not really having difficulty, and just plain easy. I ran to the next boss with the first character, on HARD difficulty... Azmodan died in 5-6 seconds (I counted,) which was before he finished his speech and before he even got a single attack in. On HARD, for a very first character, with just random blue/yellow/orange items. His concubine wasn't much more of a threat, being defeated in about the same time.
It doesn't have to be difficult, but, maybe for an Act boss to die before he can even attack, just by holding Right Mouse seems just a tad too easy.

Edit: From a fresh account, you can choose from three difficulties: Normal, HARD, and Expert, and then unlock further difficulties by finishing Act 4. So, since I had no gear and had no idea of how D3 played out, I went with the middle option.
It feels a lot like the StarCraft 2 difficulties:
-- Casual
-- Normal
-- Hard
-- Brutal

If you played Casual, you really just kind of win. Normal, same thing. Hard and Brutal the difficulty ramps up a lot, and you have to know what you're doing.

D3 has stupid damage scaling. Most of your damage is determined by your weapon, so if you get lucky and find a legendary weapon while questing, the game gets super easy. Especially when you use an ability with a nice damage multiplier (like disintegrate). I still enjoyed playing the game, I just wish the power creep for seasonal play wasn't so ludicrous. I had the most fun just doing rifts/GRs with rare items, slowly piecing stuff together and upping the difficulty. Unfortunately, the endgame also gets boring very quickly.

Sup gyus. Nice place you have here, indeed. Old place needed redecorating anyways. Ill have beer, can serve myself, thanks. Im very profficient in it.

Hi everyone! I had just come back to SPF about 3 weeks ago for my yearly diablo 2 addiction and was wondering where the hell everyone went. It's all clear now. It only took me since July 2003 to post 560 messages on the old forums, so I'm sure you will see me around lots ;).
Currently working on my 10k LK run project, since the work-from-home with a 2y old and 4y old got me crazy enough to actually finish a project like that. Then with the results I will pick up my last year's restart from scratch and actually finish a bunch of builds for once. Nice seeing you all here!

I'll have a beer, a whiskey and uncle Tom's potato juice, as my son's school mentioned closing until August.

I think Thyiad secretly edited my post on the old forums. I posted saying 'transition', and this morning, the sentence wasn't there.

Diablo 3 - I picked the Asia servers as the closest to Australia, and as mentioned previously, learnt of the hidden AU servers within the America's region. Under 50 ping! I'm also considering running a couple HC characters, alongside some SC ones. I've noticed that there are some random quests that don't always generate in a single playthrough, similar to the randomized quests in Diablo 1. Definitely like that, as each new character has a slightly different set of mini-quests.

Entirely possible... I'm pretty sure we are not supposed to talk about the move on the old site because... reasons. If that wasn't the case, just making a big "Hey! We're moving!" thread would probably have been move effective than shooting out PMs to individuals.

I play most seasons and I agree the difficulty scaling is pretty dumb. Expert difficulty is basically never used and within 2-3 hours of hitting 70 I am normally at T13+. So within about 6 hours of start of season I am ignoring 16ish difficulty levels.

And it's super-sad that after a day or two at max level, you already have all the gear you're looking for...and are just looking for ancient/primal upgrades of the same gear. I normally could only stand a few weeks of grinding before I decided "why am I still doing this?"

Yeah I am normally done after 1-2 weeks. My normal target is guardian completed, para 800 and GR 100 completed.

Still first day of seasons is always a lot of fun.

Just once again goes to show my investment in D3 is pitiful in comparison to the almighty Jcakes.

Helloo my darlings! Thank you @queenEm for letting me know about this new place. I missed everyone tons! If this new platform actually sends emails when new posts appear, I might actually be able to stay engaged more than once every six months. :( Hope everyone is doing OK during this weird time we are living through.

@Goldtru make sure it's checked in your preferences if you want that. I think it is by default. Now kick back and have a drink!

Yeah....can you carry me through that? Because I don't have the drive, ambition, or time for that anymore.

I think the FB algorithm might be off. On Saturday night, right before our ICE D2 multiplayer, I checked out FB. I haven't been using it to post or search or do anything much, but the advertisements/suggested groups have dramatically changed.
I used to get adverts for Weighted Blankets, as I was considering getting one, but now... Saturday night, my recommended group was "Gay Meat Feast", and one normal one. Today, I have "Gay Meat Feast" and "Gayety Gaymers"

No, I'm not coming out of the closet. I'm not even in the closet. My history has no links to gay porn, chat groups or anything else. But FB suggested groups is definitely not relevant to my interests. (To be fair, if I search for more groups, the others are somewhat alright, but the primary displayed ones are not.)

So, GDQ did a Corona Relief fund, and, all pretty much normal, but I really would LOVE to see more of these style games be run more. This guy apologises for being out of breath, while running, and consistently getting very high scores, including several absolutely perfect 100% songs, on some of the hardest difficulties/songs, for almost an hour. If you don't want to watch the full vid, skip to any point in the middle, and enjoy a song.
