Do CD keys spoil?

I've had 4 CD key sets for a while and I have them written down on a nice piece of paper I stick in my desk when I'm not using them.
Lately I tried to install D2 and I get a bunch of "CD is invalid, try again, etc" type stuff.
Maybe I'm using the really old D2 CD set that doesn't recognize my much newer keys... or they just imploded somehow.

On a slightly connected note, one of these, the first one on my paper, got banned because I'm a huge dork and tried to run some SP related junk on battle.net. But that should still leave 3 fully working keys...

Just make sure you stick it in the freezer and you'll have a happy, fresh CD-Key for years to come.

I've used the same cd-keys since I bought D2 when it came out. I assume you've used the keys from that paper before, so are you sure there isn't something wrong with your keyboard?

I prefer to keep mine in the crisper. ;)

CD-Key's done spoil, no. Likewise, even if a key is banned or something, it is still possible to install the game using it. You won't be able to log on to battle.net though.

How long ago did you write these keys down?

I used them last time about 5-6 months ago.

Maybe it doesn't like that I have 2 keyboards plugged in...

I'll try them a few more times this evening with just one keyboard and paying extra close attention to what I'm typing.

Re: Do CD keys spoil?

You need 2 keys to install the complete game, one for the core game, one for the expansion. Maybe you confused the two?

Re: Do CD keys spoil?

Yeah, make sure you're using your D2 key to install Classic D2 and your LoD key to install the expansion. Confusingly, they both have the same number of characters and format.

Also make sure you're typing it in correctly - you're not confusing zeroes and letter "O"s, ones and letter "I"s, etc. From what I remember, some of the letters can look ambiguous with the font they used on the packaging, too

Re: Do CD keys spoil?

or try registering them on your blizzard accoutnt
after you enter them itll tell you if they are classic or expansion keys

then you can download the games, and retieve the keys whenever you need

your muted/banned keys will still be muted/banned on bnet, but you should still be able to play sp and tcp/ip with them
