Diablo 3 Vs World of Warcraft

I think most of us agree that even though D2X is still fun, its lost of bit of its spark after almost 4 years.

What game are you guys going to play next? Diablo III (Guild Wars) or World of Warcraft?

I was lucky enough to play the World of Warcraft Beta for 1 day, LOL (2.5 GB took 2 days to download), it was pretty fun, my laptop struggled a bit with the spiffy graphics, but yeah, I think its going to be an excellent game.

Did anyone play the Guild Wars Beta a few weeks back? If so I would like to hear your feedback.

Im trying to work out which one to get, as like many of you, I think its time for a game change :)

Ohhh. Guild wars wont have a monthly fee, WOW will have a monthly fee.

since when does diablo3=guild wars?!?!?!

wow. i seem to have missed something important here.

Its designed by the almost the exact same team. (The key members at any rate)

The Crew that designed Battlenet, Diablo , Diablo II, Warcraft I, and Starcraft mostly left Blizzard 2 years ago, as they were not allowed to develop the next installment.

Seems kinda stupid since Diablo sold over 1 million copies world wide, why woudlnt you want to cash in on that franchise? If I were blizzard I would be making a new expansion pack every 6 months!!

Naturally they cant call it Diablo III, since its copywrite by blizzard, the game doesnt take off where D2 left off, but its game features and gameplay have taken off from where Diablo II left off.

ahh, i knew about the 'same team' bit but the entire storyline-type thing threw me off and i thought it was entirely new.

i don't know much about either WoW or guild wars -- i played guild wars a total of ten minutes and have seen nothing but a few screenies of WoW -- but i'll just wait until they come out, read up on them, and go for whichever one focuses more on items.

what i think MADE d2x was the item variety, so that's my main criteria. but as of now, i'm leaning towards guild wars.

Same I agree :)
Your Avatar is funny as! 10/10

Yeah it has a different storyline, but at the end of the day, its not the storyline thats important.. I mean I dont get all excited to see Mephi on my 399th mf run, I think like you said its the elements, its finding those UBER items, leveling up your character, making some new friends, Designing new builds, its the elements that have made D2X an extremly fun and balanced game.

I think I am edging towards Guild wars 2 :)

The montly fee sounds like a scam to me! I wouldnt mind paying like a $10.00 quarterly fee or something, (to help blizzard cover server maintenance expenses) but a hefty montly fee? thats just not my scene :)

same here. i guess the community will be similar between the two games but in the quality-to-price ratio i think guild wars will be overall better. like i said, i played for ten minutes and was thoroughly, thoroughly confused but the environment seemed nice enough.

go go guild wars!

I played WoW, and it wasent too bad, but as a student i dont have money to pay every month.
I do have the money, just not the will to pay.
but as long as you can have melee casters, zealing barbs, furysins and its Semi-free
Im with Guildwars :uhhuh:

btw. is there any beta thingie going on soon?

Ehh, that was not really the reason, but whatever. The guys at Guild Wars are if I am not mistaken mostly Blizzard main (or south) people, not the Blizzard North ones, hence not THAT much to do with Diablo. The ones from Blizzard NOrth are in part at another company. Vesides, Guild Wars is not even remotedly close to Diablo so no idea why one would call it Diablo 3.

dear lord -- is that really JOO, jarulf?! wow. i thought you were like some legendary ghost or something.

(off-topic :D)

oh, and jordy -- i guess you'll be disappointed by guild wars. no zealbarbs there. :p
