DECA: Dueling Everyone Can Afford

I don't see a problem builds that are built around o-skills. Personally, I think Vex and below should be allowed. Unfortunately, these two rules eliminate Chaos (Ohm), and the WWsin build.

I agree with kabal in that charms make up a lot of what good PvP'ers are. Inexperienced PvP'ers don't realize the importance that charms can provide...I know I didn't. Having said that, I think the rules set here will help in bringing the characters to a more level playing field, and show the skills (good or bad) of the players off more, which really is the point of PvP, IMO.

Just be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to o-skills, I think. I'd like to try PvPing with my zeal-chantress or a zerker pally, and Wolfbarbs and others would be a lot of fun. I think banning SPECIFIC o-skills/items, while more complicated, would be worth it in the end.

I took a look at the euro-pvp rules.

Bleh, too many restrictions and it seems they allow teleporting in some cases and its way too complex.

Alright. I realize that instead of just standing around here theorycrafting for a lot of us, we should start the (friendly) dueling and then get our rules set in place.

Major rules:

1. GM - No naked killing, town gaurding. Running into town signals a forfeit.
2. Runes Vex and down allowed.
3. Plan on using ONE stash (you're characters) to carry all you gear for all situations. Excessive prebuffing is VERY discouraged.
4. No healing or rejuvenation pots
5. No O-skills.
6. CtC curses are banned
7. Decrepify, Bone Wall, Iron Maiden and Bone Prison banned.
8. Holy Freeze, Vigor, Meditation/Prayer banned.
9. Teleportation/Blaze banned.
10. Slow missiles banned
11. Charges of all kinds banned.

Rules Under Debate:
1. Useage of Mana Pots
2. Hammerdins
3. Amount of absorb/max resist.
4. BO/Bone spirit cap.
5. FR/W cap
6. Other interchar balance issues.

Remind me if I forgot anything.

The major rules are 90% going to stay like this unless the majority of people disagree (I'm guessing the rune one is a little iffy).

I think we should all just start dueling each other for fun following the major guidelines and then we can start forming specific rules. Use your own discretion in being fair; i.e dont' put on 2*wisp, a gaurdian angel and tgods vigor versus a trapsin or putting on 200 FRW

I still think the blanket restriction on o-skills is over the top; I may bring my zealchantress into a game this evening if one's available, even if I am sure she'll get owned.

I thought the game capped it, kind of like crushing blow...I didn't mean the rules. I don't remember where I read this though. you can probably put on as much as you want, but after 100%, there is no difference. Can anyone test something so we can see some results?

No, frw is not capped in game. Frw from items and charms are affected by dimishing returns and frw from skills are not.

Thanks Zhao....learned something new today. So what's the verdict on FRW from items?

Theses are just my opinion, and aren't really based on anything:

1: No mana pots
2: The rule that always seems to have worked is no Conc on whilst casting Hammers
3: Here I think the new rules are actually an improvement. 2 sources of absorb/max resist allowed per element. Items with both on (TGods) count as both
4: No cap on Spear level, lvl33 cap for Spirit
5: The cap always seems to be around 100 for most versions of rules, so somewhere between 90 and 110 would be fine I think
6: There will always be balance issues unfortunately I think, as the game was balanced for PvM. But the rules you have now look like a nice return to some of the older ones with some new rules added in:grin:

Sounds good.

If the word banned is not in the wording, people are going to excessively prebuff anyways. Might as well just ban prebuffing.

forgot knockback, I think we'll stick with 1.11 only
I'm not too familiar with how different versions interact, but 1.10 items are virtually the same as 1.11 items. If someone hasn't upgraded to 1.11, can they duel in a 1.11 game, and still stay 1.10? If so, I think that 1.10 items should be allowed.
