D2R Themed Drop Simulator for Quest Bosses and Monsters

Interested by D2's random loot generation and drop calculators, I've been making a simple python app to simulate the loot drop mechanic that keeps people hooked.
The app uses item type and quality generating functions and txt files from D2 (TreasureClassEx.txt, ItemRatio.txt, ...). Images are taken from D2R's street day trailer.

Quest bosses and other units like Cows, Countess and Council are available.

It's something to play with. Drops are logged to a file session.txt so stats and number crunching is also possible.

Things to try:

• Countess on /p1 vs /p7 (referencing the new countess guide https://www.purediablo.com/strategy/diablo-2-countess-guide/)
  • (900runs /p1 --> 7 ist runes dropped. 2nd trial of 900runs --> 4 ist runes) ​
• NM Andy unique ring farming
• Duriel and his tp scroll drops

Warning: Windows and some antiviruses may complain about dropsim.exe. The code is open to review and reads files only from the dropsim/data-113d/ folder, images from the img/ folder, sounds from the sound/ folder and writes only to session.txt

What is your profession?

Looks good (only looked over some code)

I'm not into python tho, is it normal to make functions in your main? (I assume dropsim.py is your main)

I do data science and a little bit of software developing.

Sure that's normal. dropsim.py is the main it's the GUI part of the code.

Really cool stuff!

I did, however, feel a bit triggered by the Duriel drop photo. It brought back the painful memory of one of my tournament character's Duriel drop:

In all seriousness though, nice work! Now if I get a bad drop, I can always fire this up to see how much worse it could have been.
