there will be a patch along with the new ladder,, this was on d3fans site, quoted from blizz


The Diablo II patch was confirmed to be in development when Blizzard folks visited China to unveil the Starcraft II Zerg Race. (March 14th, 2008)

well the patch is good news (if its true, I somehow doubt it..), but that means (most likely):
- no more baal 4 quest
- no more grush
- no more ut exp
- no more perm andy questdrop

as those are based on bugs ^^

hmmm, i remain sceptical about this. i have also see that interview, but it mentions nothing about the patch being released at the same time as this ladder reset

Damn it to hell - although a new patch is nice. I'll probably keep a few of my characters on non-ladder. There were a few builds that I was planning on soloing anyway, and PvM solo is exactly the same on non-ladder as it is on ladder. On the other hand, all of my NEW characters I'll start on the ladder. *sigh* I was kinda hoping to finish up a couple of other characters, and there are a few characters that will go into permanent retirement now.

I'm rather sure that none of these bugs gets fixed, perhaps except for the Ãœber Tristram XP issue, which might just need a change of a few recordsets in a database table :azn:



 
New patch with ladder reset?

i've heard whispers of a new patch with the ladder reset, though i havent seen any evidence to back this up.

can anyone post evidence if this is, infact, true?

Can someone please enlighten me about this TPPK thing? I posted the question in the questions thread but people there don't know!

How is this done? (As I might start playing hardcore and I want to know...)

PK'ers often ask you to party with them, then go through your TP, quickly TP back to town, turn hostile, TP back to you and make the kill. At least that's what I heard (never experienced that myself).

i guess tppk stands for TP(town portal) so well what thay do i guess is have a hack or good timing.. fire a fire ball or any other projectile enter the TP then set War agains the other player, if you do it fast enuf i think the fire ball will hit the player.... but not 100% just a guess

That is exactly what it is. It's such a bummer I mean you have no way to defend it, you don't even ave time to leave the game. Basically any projectile in the game can kill you by using this cheat. The only way to avoid it is to leave the game IMMEDIATLY when you see any character make a Tp...which is not a fun way to play. I REALLY hope they fix this. Last ladder reset it took about 30-50 hours for the TPPK'ing to start...only way to beat it is to level a character fast enough to keep ahead or along with those darn cheaters. Rumors of a patch make me think this could be a fun reset.

You can't "tp back" because all your tps disappear when you go hostile. You have to have spells in "mid air" when you tp back and go hostile which then hits the player.

Basically as others have said, the TPPK'er will direct projectiles in your direction, guided arrow's, tornadoes, fireballs, bonespirits etc. Often time you dont even notice this especially if you are playing a melee character and there is alot of activity near you. Once the projectiles get near you they activate the hack which teleports them to town and instantly agro's you turning the projectiles hostile to you or anyone else in the party... This has been in the game since I first started playing HC back sometime in 2002... I really have no idea why Blizzard has not done anything to eliminate this type of gameplay. 99% of the time you might not see a single public game going on in nightmare or hell because people simply dont want to take the chance of playing with anyone they dont know.

Would this work: (I will test with a friend)

- make tp
- launch plague javelin towards the other player
- go to town and hostile

Should the other player get poisoned?

If so and I can verify, then you have answered my question.

In my understanding, no.

There is some sort of hack involved, just game play is not all of the strategy.
I may be wrong though...
