D2 Goals & Objectives for 2022

Now that my Cube Recipe Grail is complete, I spent a little time pondering about a few other journeys on which I would like to embark and share.

• Make another update to my Skills Census, to include new P/M/Gs that have been submitted since last time. Also, the new D2R 2.4 patch has introduced lots of skill and synergy changes, which I should probably document there too. (I chose to keep playing D2 Legacy, patch 1.14, rather than purchase the resurrected software. That means I won't have experience to support opinions about the changes.)
• Keep on starting and matting/patting more septs, and work on a maxed skills grail as part of a longer-term effort toward Murios.
• To my surprise, the cube grail, and the various MF/RF tournaments that helped me achieve it, have given me an S/U collection deficit of only -45 according to my most recent Flavie Report. It will be interesting to note any new grailers that I hope will continue to trickle in. So far I have found twelve of the TC 87s. Finding any of the remaining seventeen will be reason to celebrate.
• After completing the Grail of Steel "side quest," I thought of some similar cheap item collections I might amass, and I have settled on another rather silly exercise in packrattery, which I think I will call the "Single Socket Grail." I'm going to try to collect or cube a one-socket regular specimen of every item that can get sockets. I counted 58 headgear, 54 shields, 45 body armors, 127 one-handed and 93 two-handed melee weapons, and 42 missile weapons, for a total of 419 socketable items. I used to ignore or drop items with only one socket, because runeword bases require at least two sockets.

End of 2022 account:

• Skills census: updated. (But so very quickly out of date again. Less than 24 hours after I finished posting updates, Grisu contributed another awesome guardian from the most recent random tournament!)
• Maxed-skills grail: my recent hammerdin makes 30 mats/pats, and a total of 99 of 210 maxed skills.
• Holy Grail (S/U): -39 (465 of 504).
• 1-socket grail: -66 (353 of 419).

Participated in: 3-legged race, RFL, MFO, and Finding the Balance tournaments.

Here's an update on what I updated back in September and some new goals for 2023

Move to D2R broke down in November and bought a new laptop and have moved to D2R. Still slowly going through my old ATMA stashes and moving stuff over to D2R.

Find a really good circlet for my Abbot Still haven't found one and this is what I've been spending most of my gambling on. Actually, in hindsight the one I used was pretty decent.

work on getting Maximus to 99 (now 90) Max is now level 92 and has been supplanted by ARGH my wolfbarb, who is now level 93. I find ARGH more fun to play and will but more effort into getting ARGH to 99, but Max won't be forgotten and is my LK runner.

Finsh the Druid and Sorceress that have been sitting in Hell for 10 years! I finally finished to Sorceress during the RFL and the Druid Wearbear is also done. Now to move over the Druid Hunter and get him past the Ancients. This should be easier in D2R.

Finish my grail (2 items) and my-self grail (57 items) My grail is down to just Tryael's and my-self grail is down to 38. I thought for sure I'd find at least one during the MFO.

Make an Ice bow, an Enigma and Doom I found a cham back in March and made Doom for my PDR Bear, but it's an even better off hand weapon for my wolfbarb. just before Thanksgiving I found a Jah in the Throne room and combined with 1500 LK runs I went on a little bit of runeword bender making Enigma, Infinity and Exile all the same day. I still want an Ice bow, but the next Jah is going toward a Phoenix shield.

2023 Goals

Continue the LK farming. I've got a number of runewords that I want to make.

Take ARGH to 99. I think I'm going to remove most of the MF gear and charms that I've been running with since he reached Patriarch to reduce the time it takes him to run at p8.

Build a FOH/Smite Paladin.

Build an Auradin when I finally find the runes for the gear.

Grail - Besides continuing to work on my overall and self-found Grail, I've started a new Grail - Level 99 items only. So, lots of Baal running for the next 10 years or so.

Finish the Bonemancer that was started late this summer and then put on hold by tournaments and LK runs.

Participate in more tournaments.

Set no goals for last year, but I will for this year:

1. Finish my Random Necromancer in Vang's Random Tournament 2021
2. Compete in another tournament and record the gameplay from the get-go, share it on youtube (still need to work out some details, but I should be fine with the NVidia software for recording, I suppose)
3. reach level 98 with my untwinked 99er Aviendha
4. get my first Annihilus with Aviendha for that. I should be able to safe a few hours to level 99 if I find a SoJ by farming NM Andariel
5. finish my Bountyhunter Necro from 2011

Most importantly, I've maintained my primary goal to stay engaged with D2 and the SPF!

• Take Septimus to 99 and finish my untwinked 99er sept
  • Status: Finished (3/5/22)
• Finish my Unfinished Business and 2H Melee septs
  • Status: Finished the Unfinished Business Sept (4/5/22), and the 2H Melee Sept (7/13/22)
• Guardian a Paladin in a tourney, which will complete a HC Tourney sept
  • Status: Deeds to first entry as a S/U tourney in Tournaments of Tournaments, and new entry as Crafted Pally is still sitting in A1 H as frost zealot but kind of stuck due to low damage weapon, so likely to respec to hammerdin; so this will be a next year thing
• Do some optimized MFing to make further progress on ethereal grail and maybe, just maybe, finish off my grail (-1 at Tyrael's)
  • Status: Leveled MF-heavy Necro in the Pit from 91 to 95 and then Pitzerker from 91.95 to 92.75 during Summer 2022 MFO, and plan to get Zerker to 93 before the end of the year. I consider this one complete. But no Tyrael's
• Tidy up 99er posts and the Compendium, which wasn't updated in 2021
  • Status: I still plan to check in with max about options for updating the Hall of Legends thread, but all the 99er Compendium and progress for 99 thread are updated.

So pretty solid progress, with just the HC Pally unfinished (and unfortunately likely to deeds in Hell). Goals for next year will a little more modest, but definitely progressing the 99er Sorc and finishing at least one more Sept.

I did alright in light of the goals above:

• 1.14/PvP: Achieved. Lots of PvP action this year, and quite happy with my cast of characters. LLD is still an additional ongoing (smaller) project, but solid progress there as well, with the staple builds all ready for action.
• 1.14/UT99 HC Barb progress: Not much, still just past 97.5. Apart from a brief break from farming SC PvP gear, I spent next to no time on the Barb in 2022. I’ll try to do better this year.
• D2R/HC Guardian Set Sept: Achieved, and characters repurposed for various tasks.
• D2R/HC - Anni/torch for all classes: Achieved
• D2R/HC - drop goals: 2/3 achieved, we got DWeb and DFathom, Griffon's not yet.

As for 2023, I expect to spend more time in D2R and HC, with my 1.14 PvP chars now being sorted basically.

Here's where I ended up this year: 1.5 out of 6 goals achieved.

1. Finish migrating the old 99er reboot thread [DONE]
2. Finish the editing pass of the SPF M/P/G archive
3. Get my HC UT 99er Javazon to 98
4. Get Murios score up to 1200
5. Participate in RFL & MFO [1/2 DONE]
6. Get my 2nd HC UT 99er project up to LK

Happy New Year everyone! No more progress on the goals since last update, mostly due to being busy with classes and messing around with other games. I'm playing D2 again and looking forward to making some more progress with new goals this year.

At the end of the year:

Main Goal

Get my UT99er fully equipped. That means:

• Enigma
• Infinity
• Fortitude
• Upped Gore Rider
• Dracul's Grasp
• Arachnid Mesh
• Ravenfrost, BKWB, Rare Amulet / Mara's
• Annihilus
• Assassin Torch

Still, somewhat surprisingly, no Gores. Really surprising was that I found a Stormlash and Medusa's Gaze, so I think I now have the optimal setup I was looking for. I didn't even mention the Stormlash in the goals as then I definately would never find one. So I'm now fully equipped.

Other Goals

As PvP is now a thing again:

• Get my final PvP Assassin to level 95
• Make another Fury claw
• Farm a load of Burning Essences and get my Paladin to 97 in the process.

No real improvement on these. I may run the Paladin in the RFL next year, but it won't be on my goals for 2023.
