CTA Build Discussion

Re: CTA Build Discussion

Fire zon? Didnt the patch boost immo-arrow? Pretty unique imo.

An immolation zon, though elemental based, isn't the best character to take along. It does not have boss killing ability as a charged strike zon would and it really doesn't bring anything to the team. At least with a damage dealing sorc you would have a back up teleporter.

Re: CTA Build Discussion

There's another thread on the front page with the same initials, I'd check there for info.

Basically it's a one day run through the game from Normal Act 1 to Hell Baal untwinked in the span of ~10 hours.

Re: CTA Build Discussion

I know the plan is to have the builds maximized for team play but I gotta say that a blizzzard sorc can easily max fireball as a second option and still be effective. In fact thats what I do for all new ladder sorcs recently. Max Blizzard, Glacial Spike, Fireball, 1 point static, teleport and cold armor and split the rest between Cold and Fire mastery with a little more going to Cold mastery. Easily completed around level 85-90 ..

I made this build when the new PTR came online and she does rather well with the following skills. I realise I was able to hit level 99 so it was easier done but I still think it can be done with dual elements. Maybe its just me being a mostly solo player that I refuse to have a one element sorc ?? But I usually play in 3 player games at least and she has plenti of killing power built this way..

Frenzy/BO Barbarian

Once again, similar to the basic build but with a few important differences. In Act 2 Normal you will occasionally find yourself in a position similar to that of the Static Chanter. On occasion you will be leaping into the fray, casting taunt to keep the monsters focused on you while the Chanter does her thing. Trust your team to protect you and keep the monster stunned with repeated leaping and you’ll be fine.

Prioritize party skills such as BO and Shout over masteries and use your warcries liberally. Taunt/Battle Cry and War Cry will all play an important role in the teams survival, but please don’t War Cry any FE/LE bosses. Trust me, it’s bad times. You have a lot of flexibility in your build outside of a few basic requirements and the aggressive toolbox nature of this build makes it constantly entertaining.

This is a question for the people who have played BO/frenzy barbs in the past CTA's I guess; What skills do you max/in what order and what kind of strategy has been most succesful? I've played plenty of barbs in the past, just wanna make sure I'm on the same page as everyone else, as I've never played in an event like this!

Re: CTA Build Discussion

Ok, so I already have down exactly how I plan on building the Orb/TK, but i can post something if really needed. But Socialism's guide covers it well enough.

A few points.

1. Shopping: Do it during Baal runs while its being ported. You have a good minute to do so. Split up and like shop a few different vendors. Grab stuff to sell and maybe gamble while your at it.

2. Druid: I kinda like the idea of throwing a FC bear into the mix just for the lulz.

3. Necro skills: Attract. Attract. Attract. Oh, and did I mention Attract? The aspect of all the monsters not focusing on us and instead on one of there own, hmm, yeah all to good to pass up. And best yet? Works with only one point. They only thing DV has over it is the no aiming/covers a good area. However, once LR is cast over it, why hello there, they attack again. With Attract though, they still keep attacking the Attracted monster without a hitch. Plus, I only see the blinding aspect any good for a few select monsters, namely Souls. Other ranged characters (Archers, Mages, Sirens) don't have that piercing ability (ok those Slingers do, but we will see them when?) so our meatshields will take the brunt of that and us be safe. I'd , much rather have there attention as much as possible off of us after one monster is Attracted, then only blinding temporarily until LR is cast (Which frankly should be ASAP) then its focused right back on us. Oh, and I didn't mention to not forget Attract did I ???

Oh, and Tai, tldr, haha

I was the frenzy bo barb in the last run and have done some barbs in other untwinked groups.

With a solid group (this group has some of the best in it) I'd max out bo first which allows life and probably more importantly at the lower levels, the mana.

I find that norm you can get by with pretty much double swing alone, and with the chant + conviction your chance to hit will never be a problem.

I'd also suggest putting roughly 5-8 points in Leap as a good sized radius is ideal at pinning stuff to the wall and forcing hit recovery. You can skim on this if the Crowd control is top notch from others build. Basically your a barb, and your here to gieb everyone else life and mana. Now try to balance in tanking with the crowd control stuff.

Max double swing
Max bo
Max shout
Max frenzy
1 point mastery on the best wep you have or skip for taunt if your not sure on what you'll end up with.

Pump double swing until bo is open, switch to bo and come back to the attacks

Re: CTA Build Discussion

Bumped for purely selfish reasons.

To anyone who was looking for team/build suggestions for the coming reset, there's some good stuff kicking around here. I know personally I'd forgotten a lot about this game and found a few things useful.
