countess - no drop?

Hi all,
I am running Countess and three times something strange happened - Countess droped no rune at all. I thought she always drops at least one rune.
Any ideas?

Thanks:smiley:

iirc there is no problem it's just rare for her to drop nothing

Three times no runes sounds very unlucky, remember to run her on /players 1 for biggest rune chances, I think if you run at higher player settings you increase her chances of dropping stuff(ordinary treasure class, having low chance of dropping runes) and thereby decrease her chances of dropping from her rune treasureclass (allways runes).

What's the Countess no-drop chance on players1?

I can't remember but iirc it's like one in ~ 50 runs or so. I'm sure someone remembers the answer.

I don't know off the top of my head but I keep Urliks' guide handy, looked to me to be about 1.5% or ~1 in 75 runs.

Back when I ran countess I would usually do a few hundred runs a night so I would have expected to run into several no rune drops per night. 1 in 75 isn't that bad of odds so even over 50 - 100 runs it wouldn't be that extrodinary to see 3 no rune drops.

I had this happen on my quest run in normal. All she dropped was 1 pile of gold. I figured it had to do with missing tiles or something.

Thanks for reply.

I've got 3 no drops runs from 280 runs (on players 1or 2), so it's nothing surprising.

Just a small piece of information you might find useful:

players 1 setting is not different from players 2 setting if we are talking about drops - monsters get 1,5x more life and experience, but drops remain the same. The probability for more drops is change with each odd player, so you have to use /players3, /players5,/players7 settings in solo games. Of course rune-wise it's the best to run countess at /players1.

I did 700 runs some time ago and i was playing with /p7 for grave/chest popping until lvl 4 and switched to /p1 before entering lvl 5. All the charms that i've found on my way were of much higher value than the runes themselves(ist+mal+um+2pul+4 lem and lower IIRC). The running was considerably slower with this style, though(cca 3 min/run against 1min/run for countess only).
