Considering reliving my childhood..Help requested.

I've been considering taking D2 back up lately..I w ent the way of most D2 users and eventually quit..Then later moved on to World of Warcraft.
I've lost much desire to play WoW nowadays. Nor do I have the time to play it much anymore. I want to be able to hop on and MF quickly before I have to go do things. Well..
I was wondering a few things..
What server is most populated now?
Is lag still an issue?
Has hacking gotten bad again or has it been to a minimum since the EZmap incident?

I could come up with many more questions later...

A few friends and myself are seriously considering playing again so any answers/help would be appreciated.
 
You picked a good time to come back. Just days ago, they implemented a patch that got rid of a publically known duping method and most of the lag.

By hacking I assume you mean accounts getting hacked. It still does happen, but it seems to be mainly due to usual reasons: keyloggers and poor password choice/security.

I'm not sure how long it's been since you've stopped playing, but there were some major changes between 1.09 and 1.10.
 
lag is stall an issue but not as bad as wow
Duping is still an issue and worse than wow
Hacking is only an issue if you use illegal programs that have free keyloggers. identical to WOW.

Still D2 is 10 times better than the current state of WOW.

Which server is most populated?

Not really sure as I only play on USWest. I'd probably recommened joining the closest server to where you live - either way I'm sure you'll find some friendly players, and of course, the forums here always have lots of friendly people.
 
Well, I was considering USWest since I'm on the west coast...I always played on USEast back in the day though..West seemed to have more lag/dupes/etc..

I've never had much lag problems with wow..I have encountered people "speedhacking" on WoW on more than a few occasions..The GMs did nothing.

I was considering purchasing D2/LoD and making a MF sorc this weekend..But it's gunna be annoying having to work my way back up with all that.
Oh well..No pain no gain.
 
Hey Im just like you and I created this account just now to post a thread like this. I came back to d2 2 months ago from a 3 years break. I played games to remind me of d2 such as WoW and guildwars. Man when I came back 2 months ago. d2 is just CRAP.. everything about it is crap. During the 2 months I made over 2k forum Gold on JSP.. its too easy.. PvM and PvP is lame. I just quitted this game last night after dumping all my stuff to noobs. Well imo I think you should wait till new ladder season is up. Everything about this game is trash now. and it sucks to see a great game like this all RUINed because of massive dupers and a crap community

Well..They've said all that duping lag has been fixed..
I plan to find out soon...
I'm really excited about coming back to D2 though.. I recall my days of doing 23k damage with a lvl 49ish(might ahve been lower actually) rabies druid.
And when my c/c kicker assassin tearing down all sorts of casters..

I think after the hell WoW put me through D2 will be a walk in the park.

Can't wait till I get paid :).


 
hmm you should look back on them fondly and then get rid of all hopes of achieving that again... a c/c kicker will do ok vs casters but you will get so picked on by palas. oh btw expect every duel game to have atleast 1 hammer/smiter/foh or any combination which is now very fashionable.
Rabies druids are cool and that dmg is still achievable but dont expect to go around over powering people immediately....
 
Just come back i did the same thing left, picked up wow, got sick of dealing with egos in wow, "b/c its cool to be able to run end game in the exp pack a week after it comes out b/c u spent months 24/7 playing it"

sorry its the reason i quit WoW... dont join lighting blade server if any of u decied to play.....

but i came back for the same thing to MF in between work, g/f , apt stuff... and it keeps me statisfied and i dont have to depend on 30 other ppl to get my chars pimp......

if u need any catching up ill be more then happy to help ya out, just PM me...

(one thing i did though was.. well out of luck had a laptop giving to me and bought a second diablo to make xfering much easyer, i always have perm or mule games up to help "close" freinds)
 
I'm thinking about coming back to the community also. I really don't want to have to build up my account again, but I probably will. Maybe I'll get a g-rush from someone here or something. I'll probably play on East, I don't know what my account will be yet. Maybe we should play. I'll post again when I create an account.

Yeah, I'll see how everything works out...I'd be in need of a good grush myself.
Maybe donated mf gear if anyone could help..I recall how hard it was, my second time starting over on D2, to try and run Hell Meph without even slightly decent gear (In my case even an Occy would help out).

Also, my c/c kicker worked fine aginst most Hammerdins.. I got some of my old dueling tactics saved somewhere..I wrote up a few rough guids for freinds long ago and I'm sure one or two of thema re floating around some where.

Conveniently, I know a few people that still owe me, so I'm starting off with a Hammerdin. I'm kind of excited to start playing again.
