cd keys here

I used to come here when i played diablo 2 quite alot but i never posted or contributed . I know i will not play again so i have a few extra cd keys i dont need. i can prolly find 3 Lod and 3 Classic keys email me if you need them. would like for the persons asking to have at least 100 posts on the forum.
Sorry if this is not allowed i am not asking for anything in return. i will check back on monday night so expect to get them around then.

Hmmm...ok, now what?

It's certainly not encouraged to ask for CD keys and as a general rule, I wouldn't do it. In fact, I think the forums discourage you from doing so. If I were you, I'd ask Aragorn_Elessar (the Community Forum mod) before posting what you think might not be allowed.

hes not asking for cd keys.. hes giving them away...

Still, asking or giving away, if I were a mod I probably wouldn't condone this either. Just doesn't seem right. Also, I see that you are asking for at least 100 posts. Why? What do 100 posts say? You have one single post yourself.

If anyone is giving CD Keys away, there is no proof whatsoever to the person that gets then thay they are :

1. Legit
2. Not muted, tagged etc.
3. Were never used in conjunction with some third party program, I.E. map hack, an item bot, or any other exploit.

I would suggest no one asking for them in any way, better to be safe then have something bad happen,

Also, to Cool Will :

Any way you look at it you are advertising, and that is not allowed under the forum rules. http://www.rpgforums.net/rules/

Though the offering of CD Keys for free is not in the forum rules under advertising, in my opinion you are advertising them.

This is your first post here, so no one one knows anything about you.

You say you used to come here when you played D2. What was your account here ? And why not use it ?

Sorry if it is against the rules i was trying to help. You can close the post.
I asked for 100 posts because i wanted to give them to someone who contributed to the forum. If its that big of a deal i would just appriciate you close the post instead of leaving it open for me to look stupid while everyone slams me.

It's not against the rules. It is a very rare thing that people actually give away CD Keys here. It is MUCH more common that people come here to beg for them.

I don't understand the problem with giving away CD Keys - if they're muted or banned, so be it. But why would he bother giving them away if they were banned? Think of it as getting a used car for free. You get it as-is, and if it dies 6 miles down the road, hey, you made it 6 miles further than you would have with no car. I say let him give them away.

There is still the risk that the keys are tied to hacks and so if you take the freebie you have to be prepared to lose it.

I would like to trust Cool Will that he is simply trying to do everyone a favor, and I applaud him (rather cautiously) for that.

The set of cd-keys he gave me work. They are not muted. Thanks again, Cool Will! :)

True there may be a risk.

IT does not bother me that they are being given away.

If there is a problem, then the taker is aware of that.

If they are fine, then well they are fine.

well ive got like 3 more sets of cdkeys left and ive also got some items left on an account i can give away as well. The cd keys were mine (2 sets)
and my best friends (2 sets) and my g/fs ( 1 set) and we all quit and thats where they came from. all are not muted and hack free.
If you need any items lemme know. nothing great but ive got buriza and some other mid lvl stuff.
LATER!

A great contribution to the community, knowing you also could have been trying to sell them on ebay, so, kudos for this honnest generosity!

As a poor student, I'm more than interested in one of the cd-keys if one's still left of course :). I tried to e-mail you, but appareantly the forum doens't want me to  .

I would take one if possible. My friend is coming back after he quit in .09 but not before he gave his cd key away. I appreciate it.

ive sent out all ive got for now. all i have left is one Lod till tomorrow. i should have 2 more ill get everyone that has posted before me taken care of.

Thank you very much, my shiny new set of cd keys works wonderfull :)
Safe muling, here I come!!

I don't know, but how is this any different than handing out links to working keygenerators? If I recall correctly, every TOS out there for any game says "Please do not share your CD-key with anyone else". Then I honestly don't know why this is allowed. Sharing cracked versions of Diablo II is a great contribution to the community too, but that is not allowed. Do I smell another double standard coming up?

I don't want to be a legit purist: the intention is good, and I don't mean to scapegoat Cool Will here. But I just thought this was against the rules. I have a second set of cd-keys as well, but I paid for them. Then I don't think it is inappropriate to be at least a little annoyed at this.

Can anyone explain this to me? Because I am a little confused here.

This might be one of the situations where the best way to stop thinking about it is to a have a drink and forget. :drink:

I haven't posted in this thread yet because i've been asking myself the same question to. I left it up to gorny and if he says its ok theb i suppose it is. I know the question could go deeper but i have neither the time or the attention span to care.

The CD-keys were payed for, unlike the keys you get out of a key generator. If there perfectly good CD-keys, why waste them collecting dust.

And the "do not give you keys to anyone" rule is to protect against multiple people using them while only payed for once. Since Cool is quiting AND you can't be online with the same key more than once, I see no problem.

This situation is no different than Cool Will giving away the actual physical copies of the game - which is not against the TOS.
