Build Concept: Executioner

Hello guys!

For my first posting here I wanted to discuss the idea of a paladin build I dreamed up, but never tried. This Paladin is an Executioner. The basic idea is this a paladin wielding 2-handed axes and attacking with vengence. Now to be totally clear you might say well then he could just be an avenger. I want to do something totally unconvential. Here is the skill break down I'm thinking. Let me know if you have a suggestions about distributions.

Combat Skills:
===============
20- Vengence
2- Prerequisites

Offencive Auras:
===============
20- Fanatism
3- Prerequisites

Defensive Auras:
===============
1- Meditation
1- Redemption
4- Prerequisites

That's 51 skill points. The remaing 59 or so skill points are going to be in vengence senergies. I'm just unsure as to how to distribute them for the most benefit.

This kind of build is called a fanatic avenger... It seems interesting, but peoples seems not to like him much. Mostly because fanatism doesn't increased elemental damage delivered by vengeance... But I like that concept...

with fanaticism on, and a big hurty axe, I think the leech would be enough, I don't think you'll need to invest in redemption/meditation, and if you do, just pick one of them (redemption seems better)
I'm currently making one of them, but I just call it 2-hand avenger.
this is the planned weapon, so far:
Ghoul Gnash
Giant Axe
Two-Hand Damage: 88 to 180
Durability: 41 of 50
Required Strength: 70
Required Level: 48
Axe Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 83
Fingerprint: 0xc6925b87
+302% Enhanced Damage
+29 to Attack Rating
7% Life stolen per hit
7% Mana stolen per hit
40% Increased Attack Speed
upgraded, of course. with fanat on, just 20 ias short for the fastest attack so a shael (or eth and 20 IAS gloves) will be enough

The problem I've always had with a pally wielding a two-handed weapon is you get crushed by elemental attacks. When you take away the use of a shield, it's really, really hard to get decent resistances once you get to hell difficulty. I've never tried this build, but given that this is an up-front and personal melee attack specialist, I think you're going to run into problems with any creature that is fire/lightning/cold enchanted. The specific problem being that you'll die when you fight them.

you'll have to put on a resist aura when fighting those kind of guys, or run back to town and swap out some o your gear.
I use resist lighting alot on my ranger. yes he slows down....but he still gets the job done.

Too bad blizzard remved the coolness from vengeance when tey decided to take away the sound. Now it just sounds like a regular attack :\

Just got "BlackThorn" into act 2. All I can say is WOW! I've cleaved through everything in my path os far. I throw up resists Aura's when I need them but right now he is using conctration till her gets to Lvl 30.

i did something along these lines a while back. I'm not sure if the sort-of-guide thing i posted is still on the forums. It is posted under "seraph guide". if it isn't here i have it saved on my comp and can send it to you.
