blocking question

Assuming you mean your block chance: Yes. The higher your level, the higher your dex has to be to maintain your block chance. Maximum blocking is 75%.

Block chance = (base block chance)*(dex-15)/(2*level) with all blocking bonuses going to base blocking, including holy shield bonuses. BTW, the base block chance of a shield depends on the character class.

sorry what does this mean?
evel with all blocking bonuses going to base blocking, including holy shield bonuses

I'm not sure what you don't understand, so I will explain in detail how your block chance is calculated.

The base block chance is what's displayed on your shield when hovering the mouse over it. If the shield has a blocking bonus itself, it's already included. Then add the other blocking bonuses to it, if you have any. Subtract 15 from your dex score and multiply that with the blocking value, then divide that number by your level*2. That's your block chance. If the result is greater than 75%, it's 75% instead.

So your DEX has to be exactly 15 points above your clvl in order to have the normal amount of blocking on your shield?

Umm, no, I made a mistake  . It's divided by twice your level and for some strange reason, nobody noticed it so far. I edited my postings above.

Dex-15 has to be greater than twice the level to have the normal amount of blocking plus the bonuses.

Ah, I thought it needed to be higher. So you'd need 213 DEX at lvl 99, assuming you had no Holy Shield or anything.
