Cue visions of hammerdin baalbots unable to take down wave 2 in Throne room unless they got pro merc. Even then, still a nice nerf. I like :thumbup:

Big deal. Now they just wear a Grief and smite the magic immunes. The baalbots use breakpoints hacks so they do not need the fcr from hoto or wizzy.

or just grief on switch. its not like you're gonna need a cta with the souls and exploding dolls nerfed.

edit: so its reduced explosion damage from fe monsters, so that might not include dolls. can anybody confirm?

Souls were barely nerfed; your WSK runner is gonna get pwned if you don't have 50+ LR. Dolls weren't touched at all.

The sad thing is, I see a bunch of people on the PTR going OMG WTH HAMMERDIN SUCKS NOW USELESS BUILD ETC ETC. They barely even nerfed the Hammerdin... are these people even reading the same patch notes as I am?

I agree. Enigma is still in the game and the hammer's base damage and synergies are untouched, and its the same as before in PvP. I was merely stating they might encounter trouble with wave 2 in throne, but i forgot about 1pt smite, silly me :crazyeyes:

Outside of WSK there are few and far in between magic immunes, the highest magic resist is 50 and 75 (only some fallen minions and the act 2 and act 5 guest horror archers I believe), and it wont make any noticeable difference, especially since I'm guessing the +150% damage to undead is still there. If it took one hammer to kill them before, it will still take one hammer now.

Hammerdin never was the fastest build around; javazons, trapsins and necros of any kind cleared the game much faster on players 1.

It was different on more players, but for a casual powergamer playing alone, hammerdin wasn't that great. Reliable, yeah, but also annoying at times (or tighter places).

Now he's just less reliable.

The only problem with this is that I can't clear furnace of pain with a hammerdin. But seeing how IM is removed, I can just zeal my way through anyways.

They didnt nerf Hammerdin, its still a viable build if you actually have someone sitting at the keyboard. They just made it so it can no longer one-shot every monster in the game you come across...so people are just complaining that they nerfed the automated hammerdins they were counting on to get them to L90 in Baal runs :)

Sadly, auto-hammerdins are still viable in CS, so I think we're just going to see all the bots running Diablo instead of Baal now. They need to make one of the Seal Bosses Magic Immune, or add MI to Finger Mages (that'd make sense lore-wise), etc.

i think the patch does quite a good job at making the hammerdin a more balanced character. the loss of ignoring demon/undead resistance makes the hammerdin a little less effective than it has been, but the far bigger deal in balancing the char out is the loss of iron maiden. its this change that'll make the hammerdin a less popular char for cs/baal runs compared to other builds (for example think of the advantages a whirlwind barb has over the paladin now; faster tele, higher life, no need for bo switch, berserk for dealing with PIs). i reckon for this reason those pala torches won't be fetching such a premium compared to other class torches as they have done until now. at least in terms of pvm.

i would have liked to see some nerfing for the hammerdin in pvp too. i think the best way to achieve this would be to introduce some real form of magic resistance other than safety shields. a new rune perhaps (could perhaps give 10-20% magic res in armour/helm/shield and 5% magic dmg boost when in weapons), or even a new runeword that boasts a decents amount of magic res. 'though this would hurt boners more as they don't have a good old grief 1pt charge/smite to fall back on.
