Berserk sorc: crazy damage?

Now, this is mostly about the nature of berserk, so I wasn't sure whether to put it here, the barbarian forum or the statistics forum, but since the crazy damage only really applies to the sorceress I thought I'd ask here. According to the Arreat Summit, the skill Berserk (an oskill granted by the Passion runeword, though always overlooked in favor of zeal) converts all damage to magic damage, multiplying it by the %ed on the skill itself. Now, correct me if I'm wrong (really, please do), but this would seem to apply to elemental damage. If it does, in fact, apply to magic damage that would mean that a sorceress, easily capable of doing upwards of 50,000 elemental damage when skilled correctly and equipped with dual dream and using enchant, could convert all of that into magic damage which is impossible to resist. This would be easily the most magic damage attainable by any character (even a barbarian berserker) in the game. My question is simply, am I right on this? Or would berserk just apply to the passion weapon and then have the elemental damage added as elemental damage on top?

Thanks for any knowledge

Re: Berserk sorc: crazy damage?

I think it is the latter answer, it will just add damage and not converting it, but not quite sure.

Re: Berserk sorc: crazy damage?

nope, just made sp sorc, gave her 51k light dmg ( holy shock + lm ) and bersek doesnt transfers elemental dmg into magic. just checked it with hero editor and lvl 63 bersek.

Re: Berserk sorc: crazy damage?

Berserk only converts 100% of physical weapon damage to magic damage. However, the skill adds some +% Enhanced Damage to that from other sources before this conversion takes place.

Magic damage can be resisted, but it tends to be less common and there are fewer Immune to Magic monsters. There are a few Paladin skills which apply magic damage and ignore MR % of particular targets, though: Holy Bolts (including those of Fist of the Heavens) ignore MR % of Undead, and Blessed Hammer ignores MR % of Undead and Demons. Otherwise, any magic damage applied by items or Magic Arrow, Psychic Hammer, Concentrate, Frenzy, Berserk, Bone Spells or Sanctuary can be resisted.
