azurewrath 1.09

I've been running Normal Meph in 1.09 for raven claw. And this thing dropped:

Azurewrath

WTF?

I looked at Arreat Summit but there is no such item there. Apparently 1.09 had items that were taken out. Why?

Are there more S/U like that? Perhaps even from older versions?

So I guess, now when I upgrade to 1.12 This will magically turn into new AzureWrath, right?

I don't think so, it will rather remain as it is now, just like every other item you move forward... It is good news for a 1.07 Arkaine's Valor, but hurts in this case :doh:

Funny thing is that I have the 1.12 Azure, and I still have to find the 1.09 one because it is listed in Flavie:wink:

It's a really useless item too. Couldn't they have put some IAS or +damage on it?

Being useless makes it fit right in with most of the other unique versions of "Normal" quality items.

If you don't play 1.09 (and have little desire to) and don't trade, you can always just edit the flavie report and remove that line. IIRC all of the statistics are smart enough to properly update. I've seen a few people do this.

How to remove 1.09 Azurewrath from Flavie:

1. Open Flavie directory
2. Open standard.dat file in Notepad
3. Ctrl+F and search for this:
Azurewrath,Crystal Sword (TC 12)
4. Delete that line
5. Close and save

Then the reports made by the Java app won't include it in the first place, and the stats will indeed properly update; they're calculated procedurally.

Ahh, thank you Sirpoops and Anaesthesia! I never knew that. Now I can just skip 1.09. (It was very hard to get some wealth in 1.07, and I don't have any motivation to do it in 1.09 again at the moment, even if it is easier)

Edit: Much better! Only 48 items left :) And one sword left to complete my sword grail, Frostwind. (Sorry for being OT)

This is good found. For serious grailer, this sword must be found to complete the grail. This sword is special because it has different base item then its later version (same as earlier lightsabre has different base item).

In additional, this sword has an important place in the Diablo plot.

Oh, it implies that I'm not a serious grailer... :evil2: But I would disagree here. I think 1.12 grail (The version I (mainly) play, the grail I'm looking for) dosen't include an Azurewrath Crystal Sword. However if everybody think that it is important, then I will just put that line back in. But in that case Flavie should contain a Lightsabre Elegant Balde, a Stormspire Archon Staff, and a Stormshield Aegis.

Grail is different for everyone. You complete what's count for yourself. I just simply pointed out the some serious grailers do collection different base item type if the item has change between patches. I have elegant blade lightsabre, and I should have one aegis stormshield. I don't have 1.09 azurewrath or archon staff stormspire. And there are those who count runes in grail (have to have at least one of each rune in the grail).

who knows, one day, he may want to collect the "full" grail. And someone may want it for trade. If I trade, I'd so want the cow set. Some grailers don't consider the cow king set part of grail. I consider every uniq/set part of grail. I don't count runes.

Edit: I seem to remember that Archon Staff Stormspire was not possible to drop, so no one can have one.

I think it could drop in 1.08 if I'm not mistaken, same as the WF, it's just that MF is broken and an Archon Staff is such a rare drop (TC90 of old) that the odds should be Zod-like.

And by the way, you don't need to play .09 especifically to get an Azurewrath, it'll drop as a Crystal Sword in any pre-1.10 version.

I already have 3 of those Azurewrath crystal swords. I'll keep one. Who wants some? :)

I'd recommend you edit away that post, Kugel, unless you want to be involved in something which may potentially invoke the smiting of the mods.

You really shouldn't use the term "serious". It's pretty offensive to those of us that take the game some what seriously and differ with your opinion. I personal disagree with backtracking for any reason, even to find an item that was removed from the game... and especially to find specific items to use in later patches. That's my choice. I'll have to look seriously at 1.13 before I consider adopting it, but when I do I'll seal up my 1.12 stash and start over.
