Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm having a peculiar problem in GoMule R3.1_1.13, and googling doesn't reveal whether it's a known bug or just me.

The thing is that when my necromancer picks up a gothic bow (magic and unique so far) in an attempt to bring it along when leaving the game with a full inventory, that bow should end up in GoMule's cursor slot. But it doesn't. Instead it ends up in the weapon slot, visible, but layered 'behind' the actual weapon that's wielded (a wand). This last time I didn't have enough space to pick up the bow after dropping other items, and I didn't want to to pick up the wand in GoMule. Instead I entered the game and put the wand in the inventory before leaving the game, so that the weapon slot was empty when I picked up the bow (which the necromancer can't use due to the Dex requirement). That way I could pick up the bow from the weapon slot in GoMule and drop it in the stash file.

But if there's a way to avoid this I would like to hear about it.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

With win7/vista it is advised that you either take user control of the Program Files folder.
Or reinstall Diablo II outside the Program Files folder. Install it in say C:\Users\Cantripmancer\Documents

Note: Taking user control for the Program Files folder may not solve the GoMule backup error. GoMule may still be unable to make the backup not sure why, but I've heard of users still getting this error. If you still get this error and want GoMule to make these backups then reinstalling Diablo II is my next suggestion.
I took control of the Program Files folder, and got the same error message. I then copied my save files to another folder, uninstalled DII, then re-installed it in C:\Users\Cantripmancer\Documents. I then moved my save files from the other folder into the Save subfolder of the DII folder.

When I run the game, neither of my saved characters come up as options to play. I still have the save files, so I'm really hoping that someone can point me in the right direction of getting my characters back? Afterward, I tried GoMule, and it allows me to save, now...but I can't confirm that it worked because those characters aren't accessible in the game... :(

Help?

Hopefully simple answer. Did you remember to patch the game? If the characters were made from a later patch they will not show. If you did remember to update then you have two options. One is to create a new character and see where that save is being made. Name the character something that no other file might be named. Enable hidden files/folders, which you probably already did, and search for the character name if it does not show up in the save folder. Try placing your saves here.

Two you can check the registry to see where the game is told to save your characters. Just do a search for Diablo II and check for the .../Diablo II/save

Lastly I am glad you made a backup of your characters. I apologize for forgetting to remind you to do this. Which saves did you copy? Check that they do not have a 0 byte file size. If they have a 0 byte file size they might not show up either.

Hope it is the first one and good luck.

The saves were in the wrong folder. I found where new characters were being made and moved them, and it worked just fine. Thank you. (And GoMule works fine, too.)

One last hiccup: prior to the re-install, if I assigned F-keys to my spells/actions, I could cycle through them with my mouse scroll-wheel. That no longer works. I'm sure I can function without it, but it was nice to have. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I've found that using extra mouse buttons/scroll requires running the game with a compatibility setting for an older OS (such as XP SP3).

I wasn't running an older OS previously, and on top of the mouse-scroll not working, my F-keys won't work, either. They work for my computer, but I can't assign new spells to those keys, nor can I use the key in-game to switch to one of the hot-keyed spells. :(

EDIT: Sorry if this isn't really the place for this question; I know it's not GoMule related...

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Is it just the F-keys which don't work? What sorts of keypresses are/aren't recognized when you go into the options and change key bindings? Do you have some sort of Fn-lock feature on your keyboard?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hmmm...well, my F-keys are working now. I can assign them and I can switch spells with them, but I still can't scroll with my mouse scroll. :(

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Just wanted to express my thanks to those people who made Atma/Gomule if they are still around. These muling programs are a big part of why I play Diablo 2. After playing Torchlight for a month and the nuisance of self muling and limited stash size, it became very apparent why these programs are so cool. So thanks!!

Also, nudge nudge. Someone make a muling app for Torchlight 2 !

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hakai No Tenshi (Doc Tenshi) made ATMA. Silospen created GoMule. Both swing by from time to time. I bellieve Silo was trying to hand GoMule over to someone else to maintain, but not sure how far that went.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

And there was someone who made GoMule compatible with previous diablo versions, any news about that?

(I want to do serious crafting in 1.07/8 but just thinking in moving all that stuff in ATMA makes me die a bit inside...)

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Ok guys and gals, I could use some assistance. I have recently downloaded D2 and LOD again and I plan on doing a complete restart. I attempted to download gomule but I keep getting errors. I installed D2 and LOD as described my thyiad in an earlier post, however, I'm still getting these errors when I try to open gomule:

I get this error 3 times when I click on the .jar file from the download folder. After I click on the "x" three time the actual gomule app will open. Then I try to open a character and I get this error:

Anyone know a fix for this problem? My D2 folder looks like this: "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe"

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

what was your sol'n? I'm having the exact same errors. Except on Ubuntu 12.10
Not sure about Ubuntu, but in windows, at least, I get this error when I either only extract the GoMule.jar or do not extract the folder from the zip. Make sure you extracted the entire GoMule folder. I suggest extracting it to your desktop or somewhere that you have permission to read and write to.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I followed the guide but I still can't get Ladder RWs to work. -w after the the other changes should be ok, right?
Also in the RWM textfile there are lots of RWs I don't recognize, what are those? :)

Ty!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Okay a couple of questions that should help us help you. Which OS are you running, Win7/vista, XP or Mac? Can you take an image of your shortcut and folder structure for Diablo II? Did you get the RWM from the first post of this thread and for 1.13c? Also, just to be sure, Diablo is updated to 1.13d?

Have you tried my guide for installing it? Be sure to save the Runewords you create. Once we get the RWM working they will change.

The Runewords folder
1) Open the zip and the RWMfor113c folder.
2) Inside you should find a folder and 2 files.
3) Copy the Runewords folder into your Diablo II folder.

The shortcut you use to run the RWM
1) Right click on the Diablo II.exe inside your Diablo 2 folder.
2) Select Send to and then Desktop (create shortcut)
3) Now that the shortcut is on your desktop right click on the new shortcut on your desktop.
4) Choose properties.
5) Inside the box next to Target: add, -direct -txt, outside the quotes.
6) Inside the box next to Start in: add, \Runewords, inside the quotes.
7) Click OK or Apply if you get no errors it was done right.

Note: If you need help finding where to add the stuff to the shortcut then look at the gif included.
Doel: is Target:
Beginnien in: is Start in: (be sure to capitalize the Runewords folder name, though I do not think that matters)
