Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

As far as I can tell there is only one .d2s file on my computer for each of my characters, it certainly seems to be acting as if gomule and diablo are reading from seperate files but if that is the case I can't find where the extra one is at. It's worth noting that the .d2s file for the character I have been playing shows that it was last modified at the time when goMule stopped updating it to reflect what has happened in game since. The file is in the Diablo II/save folder

could you rephrase this? :p

Excuse me for the somewhat obvious suggestion, but have you tried reopening that specific character file by browsing for it through gomule? Try selecting the character name that's available on the left of gomule and hit 'backspace' , and that will remove it from the project, then just go and find the game file in the save folder and see if that works.

for most people 9I assume) once your game saves and if you still have gomule open it will say interrupt you with a pop-up saying the files were changed and will reopen them once you click okay or whatever.

Okay so the character is not open in GoMule while the game is running, correct? And when you use GoMule you exit and save the character in game before opening him in GoMule, also correct? In other words GoMule and D2 are not both trying to access the save at the same time. If this is the case which it sounds like and you have win7/vista then your saves are probably actually in the Virtual Folders.

Enable hidden files and folders, probably show system files as well. Then navigate to this folder using GoMule. Change arrethyn for the user name you log into your computer with. These should be the actual saves. Use these saves from now on. When you want to make backups of your saves you must backup them from here.

C:\Users\arrethyn\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\saves

If you want an explanation of why MS decided to do this just ask and I'll be happy to answer it.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Awesome thanks Ladvarian, Sure enough there was a second set of save files for the two characters I had been using in GoMule down that path. Problem solved.

P.S. In case anyone else has this problem I moved the duplicate save files into the normal diablo II/save folder just to keep them all in one place, I've logged in since then and the game seems to have found the new location just fine.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Lately I've been having an issue with ATMA, where I click save all and the application crashed. As a result, my stash file (.d2x) corrupts and I lose all the items that I had just stored. I can use the .org file to restore everything from before whatever items I just stored, but whatever I was trying to stash is now gone. This has happened 3 times now and I'm not sure what's wrong. Is my stash too large? It's at about 700 items.

Luckily I haven't lost anything valuable, but the application is crashing before it can create a new .org file. For example, today I lost a perf eth venom ward, a lem rune, and like 30 lower runes that I was putting away when it crashed.

Any thoughts?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

No offense, but have you thought of trying GoMule? I would say that for ATMA at least 700 items might be a bit large of a stash, maybe even a bit big for GoMule. I rarely have stashes that large though. How long does it take to open the stash and what is the error message you get when it crashes? Is it simply ATMA crashes or is it windows as well? You might also want to give some system info.

If you keep getting error messages setting up different stashes is the way to go. If you are not opposed to trying GoMule it can easily help you move the items to different stashes, then you can go back to using ATMA if you desire. Multiple selection dragging and dropping is one of the reasons some prefer to use GoMule. The other is the ability to search and filter different types of items.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

No offense taken? Not sure why that would be offensive heh. GoMule for whatever reason refuses to work on my machine. I had a conversation with Thyiad (spelling?) in PMs trying to get it to work with no luck. It gives me an error if I try to do anything at all. I'll just start making more than one stash and see if that helps. Should be fun transferring all those items hahaha

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'd be willing to try helping you with installing GoMule if you are up for it, but if not then good luck with transferring the items that way. We can send PMs if you'd like or have the conversation here.

Your inbox is full, but I am interested. I got my main stash down to <300 items and it crashed again today, lost a perfect eth Fleshrender :|

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Well, now that I have my fancy new Mac (v10.7.4), I've been hankering for some D2 action.

I've been able to install D2 and D2 LOD with the help of jamesixgun excellent D2 for Macs guide. Now, the problem arises when it comes to getting RWM to work.

I've downloaded the 1.13d zip file and dragged it into my PlayOnMac D2 folder, no problem there.

Now here's where things start to diverge for me: I've opened up PlayOnMac and selected the "Create a shortcut" option in the right menu. I now see a .app file on my desktop called Diablo II.app. I then renamed it as Diablo II RWM.app Is it supposed to a .app file? Because I don't see an option to "Save the shortcut" as james says I should do.

I then went and opened the shortcuts folder in my PlayOnMac folder and...I see an unix file I can edit but it's not called Diablo II RWM, it's just "Diablo II". Any suggestions?

Hi THC,

I just did this myself, and didn't see anyone respond to your question. If you still haven't got it, PM me and I'll help you out.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Actually are the any good guide for Gomule because i put all my items on clipboard!

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

It is in the guide that was provided by Silospen. It is a little hidden and not given as a warning like it should have. Unfortunately I do not believe any other guides have been written.

GoMule guide link from the first post. http://www.chrisclarke.co.uk/D2stuff/PDFs/GoMule/GoMuleDocs.pdf

GoMule Guide said:
The GoMule all item view is intended to allow a user to easily nd items. When All is clicked on, all of the chars/stashes in the current project (shown in the 9 Char/Stash view) are read and all of the items are placed into a stash. This stash is then displayed. The stash cannot be added to, but items can be taken from it. If an item is taken from the all item stash, it is taken from it's location on whichever char/stash it exists in and placed on the clipboard.

Disclaimer: Good luck and the info in the spoiler should be taken with the advisory that I have not used GoMule in a long time And this is what I believe can be done as in I have not tested this myself. No warranties on this info is given. Click the spoiler for more info.
If I recall correctly the clipboard is saved between GoMule closing and opening. So you should be able to work on it, close and save, then work on it some more later. Also you should be able to do a force-quit, as in save nothing, and the stashes/characters will be the same since you last saved them in GoMule or in D2. This requires you not to have clicked on the save button after you transferred all your items to the clipboard though.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Hi guys, I want to ask a question regarding my careless mistake with GoMule. So I put a unique sword with required dex of 39 to my necro's alternate weapon slot while he has only like 33, the item dissapeared when I logged him, is there any way to recover it?

It should not have disappeared. If I recall correctly the weapon still stays on the character only it displays in red. Similar to if you equip a helm that increases your dexterity to 39 and you equip said sword then unequip the helm. The sword should still be in your inventory or at the very least GoMule's view of your character.

As for getting the sword back, if it did go poof, there are files called backups which GoMule creates by default. Each time you save your character/stash with GoMule it creates a backup of the character/stash. These can be found in your saves folder and where ever you save your stashes. The extension is .org and will look something like this. character_1.org or stash_1.org Just change the extension to the proper one for the character/stash. For characters it should be .d2s for stashes .d2x The higher the number the older the backup. Once you have retrieved the poofed sword delete the backup (backups if you had to look to an older backup) you changed the extension of so you are not tempted to transfer any other items over. Or accidentally do it while viewing them with GoMule later.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I see a lot of people knowing exactly how many runs they do.

Is there anyway to do this on GoMule or something?

I am having this same problem...can someone give me a hand with it? D2 is running just fine with PlayonMac, but it is no fun unless I can get the RWM to work.

Thanks

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Is there any way this program can be used, or modified to be used, for Torchlight 2? Anyone around here got the programming skill to do that?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I finally found an item with my main character that was cool enough to me to try to transfer to another character, so I did some research and downloaded GoMule. It seems to run fine until I transfer an item to another character or to a new stash; when I save, I get the following error message:

I'm not java-savvy in the least (though not completely tech-clueless); if anyone can provide recommendations on what I'm doing wrong, or how to fix it, I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: The item appears to be saved in that other character or stash, but if I go into D2, it's not on the other character and it's still on the original character.

This is GoMule's way of keeping things going from bad to terrible. It creates a backup of the character and stash each time it is saved. I assume you are running win7/vista right? If so then the Program Files folder is defaulted to being protected from any non-admin running programs. Since GoMule is a java program and cannot by default run as an admin it is unable to save in the real Program Files folder. See the next part for more info on solving this.

EDIT: The item appears to be saved in that other character or stash, but if I go into D2, it's not on the other character and it's still on the original character.

This should be the same cause for your problem. To keep compatibility with older programs and still keep the Program Files folder protected MS decided to create virtual folders for the changes to be made to.
Your actual saves are probably in the virtual folders here
C:\Users\Cantripmancer\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Diablo II\saves
I used your incgamers name as your computer log in, just change it and you should find your real saves.

With win7/vista it is advised that you either take user control of the Program Files folder.
Or reinstall Diablo II outside the Program Files folder. Install it in say C:\Users\Cantripmancer\Documents

Note: Taking user control for the Program Files folder may not solve the GoMule backup error. GoMule may still be unable to make the backup not sure why, but I've heard of users still getting this error. If you still get this error and want GoMule to make these backups then reinstalling Diablo II is my next suggestion.

Note2: If your saves are not in the virtual folders then using one of the methods above should still solve GoMule's inability to transfer items.
