Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm starting to play D2 again, but I've bought a new computer since last I've played. What would be the easiest way to get all my items/characters from my old computer to my new one? I had both Atma and GoMule on my last computer, but would using one or the other be best? I'm not very good with computers, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Most people only use GoMule unless they are using previous game patches.

What I did when I got my new comp a month ago was this: Just copy all of the files and folders from atma/gomule/saves/whatever and after you have installed D2 on the new comp just transfer the files and replace what is in the new comp's install. None of the stuff you mentioned requires an actual install, so you can just put them there and it will work. I even copied all of my desktop shortcuts and brought them over. Just don't delete anything until you get it all working in case you mess something up.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

That's what I attempted earlier this week, but I was only able to get my Diablo characters sent over. I'm having trouble sending my stashes over. Is there a quick fix for that? Or am I looking for the stashes in the wrong place?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Which OS do you have on your old computer? The stash files should be in the GoMule or ATMA folders. If you were using Win7/vista they might be hidden in your Virtual Folders. Enable hidden files/folders and do a search for *.d2x and you should find them. Then either copy them over or the entire folder as kestegs said. Remember .d2s are character files and .d2x are stashes. (if I recall correctly)

GoMule is great for transfers. You do not have to drag and drop each item. You just click one button and it moves all your items for you. The stashes are compatible with both. The only exception is GoMule is best for LOD 1.10+ characters and items only. Use ATMA for pre 1.10 and classic as kestegs said.

Re: Help with RWM

bah, i tried to post some pictures, but they were a disaster
I am running windows vista, I have the most up to date patch for the diablo2

I am not running the game as admin.

I have tried running the game (with success) without the windowed or nofixaspect modifers

I do appreciate your help here Ladvarian, any insight you can give is helpful

I am not running the game as admin.
Do you not wish to run the game as an admin or do you not have the password to attempt this?

I have tried running the game (with success) without the windowed or nofixaspect modifers.
So basically you are able to run the game without the extra (-windowed -nofixaspect) modifiers. See if you can make a ladder-only rune word with just -direct -txt. You only need to use the shortcut when you want to create a ladder-only rune word. Once it is created it will be a rune word even if you run the game from another shortcut. An example of a work around is to create the ladder-only rune word in your -windowed -nofixaspect shortcut. Then use the -direct -txt shortcut to open the character holding the gemed item and the gemed item will become the rune word. Once you verify the rune word was made quit the game and open back to your other shortcut. This might not be a very good solution to your problem, but it will work.

You might also want to try reordering the modifiers. Put -windowed (try -w instead) first, then try putting -direct -txt first, then -nofixaspect.

Re: Help with RWM

Hi all, returning to this wonderful game after some time and I have a problem with RWM

I've added the Runewords folder from the download to my diabloii directory.
I created a new shortcut
I added
-direct -txt (as well as -windowed -nofixedaspect) to the Target slot
and C:\Games\Diablo II\Runewords
the game starts as the original diablo - without the expansion pack

now if I remove the \Runewords from the path,
DiabloII starts off in the LOD (windowed) configuration - everything is happy.
But I wont have all of the nifty runewords available.

So to sum up my problem -LOD works fine without the Runewords path, but I'm stuck with the orginal once I add it.
Any ideas?

I am sorry that I did not post this in the 108 page RWM help thread, but .... well I read a lot of it, but couldn't find an answer.

thank you,
Did you originally install the game to "C:\Games\Diablo II", or did you move it there later? If you moved it there later, the registry would still point to the original install location. It may then have trouble finding some of the game files when the working directory is changed in the shortcut.

If you are comfortable with regedit, check out HKCU\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II. If not, back up your saves and try reinstalling.

Re: Help with RWM

Thanks to both you Oscuro and Ladvarian,
I tried running the game and noticed that my saves were placed in some far off land called
C:\Users\mark\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\save
when I also noticed that I could not find my characters with gomule ....

I tried running as administrator (which I wish i didn't have to do more because its a pain, but ...) and didn't have access to my characters because the game was looking in
C:\Games\Diablo II\save
(which is where I would expect them to be)
gomule can find these characters

and alas! Runewords mod works when I run the game as administrator

I had recently completed a fresh install and I installed the game into C:\Games\Diablo II directory;
but the game wouldn't run unless I downloaded the patch (LODPatch_113d)
I suspect the patch, in an effort to get diablo2 to run in vista somehow tied the game into the program files (x86)
but (obviously) my computer knowledge is somewhat limited.

I would prefer not to install again (since I installed to the "correct" directory just a few days ago)
any thoughts on getting the game to run without having to run as administrator, yet still having access to gomule and runewords mod?
It won't kill me to run it as admin, so a solution exists.

in either case, thank you both very much for help.

Re: Help with RWM

ah ha!
i solved the problems with the regedit
the entries under

program
install path
save path

were all set to program (x86) \diablo ii
I changed them to c:\games\diablo ii
and everything is working perfectly - no need for admin, go mule can find characters and runeword mod works

thank you very much to both of you

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Is there any necessary .dll file to run Silo's run counter? For some reason it doesn't seem to want to count the S&E's I do but all the other run counters apparently had missing .dll files so I think that might be the reason it's not working.

Anybody else had a problem like this?

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

The Runewords folder
1) Open the zip and the RWMfor113c folder.
2) Inside you should find a folder and 2 files.
3) Copy the Runewords folder into your Diablo II folder.

The shortcut you use to run the RWM
1) Right click on the Diablo II.exe inside your Diablo 2 folder.
2) Select Send to and then Desktop (create shortcut)
3) Now that the shortcut is on your desktop right click on the new shortcut on your desktop.
4) Choose properties.
5) Inside the box next to Target: add, -direct -txt, outside the quotes.
6) Inside the box next to Start in: add, \Runewords, inside the quotes.
7) Click OK or Apply if you get no errors it was done right.

Note: If you need help finding where to add the stuff to the shortcut then look at the gif included.
Doel: is Target:
Beginnien in: is Start in: (be sure to capitalize the Runewords folder name, though I do not think that matters)

Thank you for solving my problem. I can't speak for anyone else, but I did not realize I had to change the "start in" to \Runewords. The instructions provided are a tiny bit unclear about this particular step.

I'm glad I helped. However the last part is a little confusing to me. Are you referring to the instructions I provided or the instructions in the download? If it is my instructions I want to find out so I can update them to make them more clear to everyone. Either way I'm glad you got it to work.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Having major problems with GoMule..

So I only just recently DL'ed GoMule and had a play with it tonight.

Opened it up found my characters, created a new stash etc, and too

k a few chipped emeralds off my charcter and placed it in the "gems" stash I made.

Saved and loaded up my character and the gems were still in his stash.

OK, so I went back and had a play around, and ended up with one click, somehow picking up everything in my stash, which were all gems, I've been using that character for a manual mule for a while.

Didn't know what the heck I'd done, so I quit out of GM and loaded up, my character then had all the gems from the stash in the backpack, and a full stash as well, like they had been copied, not moved.

What have I done wrong?

And would the gems that I had in my backpack have gone poof if I had used them? (I dropped them on the ground and saved and quitted)

Are the gems in my stash affected / corrupted because of this?

Should I drop the whole stash and let them vanish?

Help please, will be eternally grateful :D

EDIT:

I'm using Unaccepted mod - Thyiad to load my game, playing version 1.13c if that is a factor.

I have GoMule in the D2SE/Cores/1.13c file path if that is a factor.

EDIT 2:

I'm thinking of staying manual muleing atm, I was mainly going to investigate GoMule with a view to future trading, do I need a mule program to trade at all through these forums?

Eh...what? Help with RWM runewords

This is weird guys.

Not long ago I made a spirit, a Ladder-only runeword.
Just then...I was trying to make Fortitude and Infinity, it......did not succeed.

Why is this? I am a little shocked and confused :coffee: Why is it that I was able to make spirit, a ladder only runeword made possible by RWM runeword, yet I could not make Fortitude and Infinity?:whistling:

Please someone help.

Thanks! :D

EDIT: Is there a way to know I am using RMW indeed? Not with the 1.13 patch where runes are orange....it used to be the only way to tell right?

But I am so sure that I am using RMW....I am using Spirit!!

EDIT 2nd: Well...this is weird. I tried making a CoH, and it worked...!!! If so, this means I cannot make those ladder-only runewords. But how? And why? I was able to make spirit before?

Sigh.... :'(

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I can asnwer the question about trading: Most if not all trades are done by sending a stash file with the items in it. I'm guessing it isn't unheard of for people to just join a game with the other and transfer the items there, but with the ease of emailing a stash, I'm pretty sure that's the way everyone does it now.

Re: Eh...what? Help with RWM runewords

Which patch are you using for D2? The RedRune Mod (RRM) is for pre 1.13 and was packaged with the RWM, but one can work without the other so just having RRM installed does not mean that RWM will work. Make sure you are using the correct RWM for your version. The RRM is no longer needed and thus the RWM for 1.13 is separate.

As Kitteh said screen-shots would be nice to help us find out the reason. Make screenshots of your items and make sure they are in the correct base especially the infinity as that needs to be a pole-arm and not a spear or a stave. No blue or yellow names only grey socket items for bases. DO NOT chunk the items. Once we get this figured out, if they are in the proper items, once the RWM works it will change them to the correct Rune word.

Also have you changed your D2 in any way since you made spirit. Are you still using the same short-cut you used to make spirit? Also if you would be so kind as to make screen-shots of your shortcut and folder structure to make sure the RWM is installed properly.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

redaussie - please do not MP or trade without PMing me first. We have a list of accepted mods which we allow (see the SPF FAQ - post 9) and what you mention is not one of them.

You will find that GoMule is much less tolerant than ATMA with items which may have been altered by some programs. This may be the cause of your issue.

I'm sure Ladvarian will pop by and assist with GoMule but in honesty, it may be difficult to help you unless you are using a clean install.

Please remember to PM me before MP/trade; using non-accepted mods and trading is not acceptable.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

As for the GoMule problem. It is probably because of win7/vista's protection of the Program Files folder. You can do this one of two ways. Install D2 outside the Program Files folder or do as Oscuro suggests below.

The easiest/cleanest solution is to just grant your user account "Full Control" access to the save folder.
