ATMA for the Extreme Pack rats

@Procratius: I've deleted the link you put up. First, when in doubt, always PM a mod first. :wink3: Second, we have a rather strange relationship with that modified d2gfx.dll file. We don't allow links to it since it's use is questionable if you play on B.net (and these forums do have both SP and B.net forums) but it is allowed into the trade and MP pool for SP.

For SP, it falls clearly under the "what you do on your own computer" rule. Many people here use it or have used it in the past, so it's not an issue for trading or MPing since it is a part of the trade pool. I'd probably put it up there with moving HC items to SC. Some people really dislike it and don't think it's right, but it's a part of the trade pool, so the only decision to be made about it is how you feel about it personally. Using it won't affect your ability to trade or MP here.

I understand, thanks for a swift reply and clarification on the issue. I'm a long time HC Realms player myself but forced into SP by the awful lag I've been getting on bnet since about a year back. I normaly wouldn't do anything in SP that I couldn't do on Bnet, however over there I always had friends around that would help with muling... *sigh* I rather miss the realms.

@timevalue:

Fast user switching on XP should work, I have used it sometimes.

First of all, don't host/join with the same character or character with the same name. But I think with placeholder you meant different character right ?

Second point:
The IP of the game you start the host on, what IP nr is that ?

Is that some internet IP nr, IP nr of your own LAN, router or modem ?
If it's something external, it has difficulties joining on that same IP Nr.

For example: I remember that if I want to play online, I needed to disable my local LAN card to be able to host with my modem.

If the problem is with IP nrs, the modified dll will not help. (As it still needs to connect with TCP-IP)

If you try to join with the same character as you are hosting with the game will refuse you so that's not an issue.
Second the IP you want depends a bit on your setup, if you are in a local LAN connecting to the net through a router then I would wager that you'd want to use your LAN ip (192.168.*.*)

If you have an ip assigned to you by your ISP and don't share the connection or if each connected computer is assigned an IP each or if you have a static IP deal then that's obviously the IP you'll want to use.

Simply check your internet connection settings and use the IP listed there(Control panel\Network connections\Local area connection(#) ), unless of course you have several NICs in which case you'll have to figure out which one you use.

Anyway, that shouldn't be too much of a problem if you have any clue at all as to how you're connected to the net. Also I believe d2 shows you your IP in the TCP/IP menue.. so that's probably the easiest way, just check there.
