That's what I figured about RWM on Mac. Thanks for trying to figuring it out though! Hopefully, they'll add in ladder runewords in a later patch or you'll just figure out how to make your mod work ;)


Almost a time to move to Hell with my Blizzsorc, still hunting for that Skin of the Vipermagi from NM Mephi. Already have 3 pieces of Tal in place (helm, belt, amulet), Oculus, so adding a Vipermagi would really boost my resists and help out. Also need some better stuff for my merc, currently working with Hone Sundan, Duriel's Shell and some random helm, might run into problems in Hell, but we'll see. Hopefully I'll be able to Mephi/Pindle in Hell by the end of the week.
 
My necro died to Nihla's damn CE. P8 and his CE range... I also died today so have to regain about 5-6 mlns of xp.. got elite unique today (the axe, ethreal one deals nearly 1000 dmg wow).

Council is really good for uniques actually. No TC87s or so, but Shako, Titan's, Homunculus, Wolfhowl, Wizardspike, Bonehew, and a Gul to boot, all in less than 200 runs ... Still hoping for that Jah, Ber or Lo though. But only 600 runs in, that's probably a bit too soon to expect too much.

Just got up. I don't feel well. Couldn't sleep at all. My back hurts because it's sunburnt. At least I can play some D2 to pass the time... I always have a inv full of charms. Only the cube is the only way I store items when I am outta town. :D
 
Guys what do you think about Countess runs at the moment? Did the recent highrune drop changes make it less profitable than running LK or other things?
 
LK or Travincal are definitely the places to be for runes, not Countess. Unless you are searching for mid-level ones maybe, although even then ... probably not.

Edit: btw, by 'recent', I assume you mean since 1.13? I'm not aware of any even more recent changes.

Countess runs are great for when you're just starting out or don't have a lot of the base runes and just need to build up your stash a bit. But honestly in that case it's almost certainly better to do LK since in that case you probably wouldn't have good charms or gems either.
 
I doubt it is ever worth to hit Countess except normal Countess if you farm runes for most basic runewords or you farm Ral runes for crafting. For everything else it is about some low number of Countess runs on Nightmare/Hell to get runes for say Insight or Spirit or whatever, and then gogogo LK. Travincal is for better geared characters who can do decent running there.

Okay, I'm not entirely sure if someone is into Mal/Ist runes, he could potentially see hell Countess worth a while, but still I'd just farm them in LK along with Sur runes and charms and tons of stuff that Countess don't give.
 
I'm not sure what you guys pick up when you run LK, but I pick up all flawless gems, small/grand charms, magic/rare jewels, magic amulets, and magic/rare sorc orbs.

To make LK interesting for me, I can't run it just for the Sur's, Vex's, and Ber's. I've got quite a few crafting projects that I'm toiling around with in my head and those jewels/rals/amethysts are going to come in handy. Same with the other pgems. They're going to be used to roll gcs and eventually sc's.

Kind of like Nightfish said with his LF/FA zon, you can't go in expecting to find a certain item. You've got to appreciate all the drops.
 
In general, the richer players is, the less important runes are for him.
For new players runes are most important aspect of LK because runewords are biggest game changers. Apart from runes, LK for them is about skillers which they lack big time when starting.

After Enigma/Grief/Infinity/whatever is farmed, priority shifts from runes to literally everything else. Biggest strength of LK is not only in runes, but most importantly in amount of charms, jewels and gems. If one is into rare kind of stuff, Travincal is better choice with farmed character, as well as some unique stuff.

What people pick up in LK, it is usually about charms, jewels and gems while runes are addition to that. Rare rings, rare circlets are also good picking choices. There were very few players who focused only on runes and ignored anything else, but loss is much higher than gain that way. After all, single charm or jewel drop easily outclasses any rune LK can drop by recent trade values. Best things in the game are not runes after all.
 
Just dinged 90 on my necro. Wanted to kill Pindle (killed Nihlathak and got the wp). Going to the entrance was a bad idea. I died and lost about a 1-2 mln of exp. Now I will focus myself on going through the act to get Baal.

I pick up the things you mention, except for the magic amulets and the orbs. And also rare rings and circlets, as Griph said.
 
Just done it ! Finished hell Ancients for the very first time ! Second attempt. IDK why I died at 1st one. Lost 1 revived quill rat and 2 skeletons. The fight was with P8 as I forgot to switch back to P1. :) Also, most notable drops from today are: Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest and Gheed's Fortune (20% MF, 13% price reduction).

Fastest way to get anything Ist and below. Difficult to get a great map, but not so hard to get a decent or good map.

You'd want to run /players1 with a 105fcr sorc. Great for getting runes to reroll spirits and insights, also good for getting Mals and Puls for rerolling Oaths. And it never hurts to have a surplus of Ral and Sol runes for jewelry crafts.

Also, bosses down there CAN drop any rune, even Zod, so you could still luck out if you kill that weak fallen bosspack.

MF doesn't help rune chances, but the Countess actually has quite good odds for rare/set/uniques as is.
 
What weapons does a Travincal WW Barb use? I was thinking of going dual Grief on killing switch, but I'm not sure it's the best choice.
