Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

Sucks, so it turns out my iMac wouldn't turn on because the hard drive was fried. I was just starting to get back into this game, and now I have to start over. I am not sure if I will. I know I didn't have much but even just having an insight for twinking, and basic sigon's gear to make normal and nightmare a little more tolerable.

I probably will just suck it up and start again. I probably will make a sorc to start. The least fun untwinked char IMO. But a necessaty for doing Meph and AT runs to build up a gear set to twink out new chars.

On the bright side I did get my new laptop. Next day shipping FTW. It was a pain to try and figure out how to get Diablo 2 to run on it. I had to do the normal twinking of compatiablity mode, vid test, video card drivers and finally just leaving the screen resolution properties windows open while running D2 as an admin. What a pain.

My friend gave me an account on Bnet. I played that for about an hour before finding an ohm.

And then there is that TL2 game, that I could probably now get and not have to worry about a mac port. Hmmm....

Been trying to wrap up a few projects here, had really hoped to get something good from a massive Imbueing spree (over 60 imbues done so far this weekend...ALL crap/not worth keeping :bored: ).

Almost done with my 99er, just need to get video software installed and working to get vid of his 99 ding...it seems like most folks use Bandicam to capture video, any suggestions?

ugh. Sorry to hear that smancer. If I lost all my things, there would be no coming back. The defeat would be total. Grats on the new computer.

I used bandicam for my videos and it works great, plus it's free. I think it's limited to 10 minutes, but I can't confirm that as my videos were never longer than 5 minutes.
 
Question about Vengeance

What to do with a cham rune?

Wait on another for a zod? Add it for cbf somewhere?

The runewords using cham are too expensive for me and the other runes needed, surs/Los will be of more use elsewhere for me.

Just dont know what to do with the akward zod b*****d child
 
Well I took the iMac into the apple store to have a genius look at it. He referred me to another company to do data recovery. I am not sure it will be worth it, as I don't know how much something like that costs, but it sounds expensive.
I am trying to remember what I actually have on that computer. God my memory is terrible.

I did start a single player char, a sorc named psy. I played through the blood more, Den, and Cold Plains. Well i didn't clear the cave yet in the cold plains because those arrows really hurt, and fire blast or whatever is just plain weak.

I didn't download goMule or RWM yet.

I did download TL2. Can I find time for both? Maybe.
 
I'm pretty sure data recovery can be really expensive depending I guess on how badly it's messed up. They have to use a cleanroom and it usually costs in the hundreds of dollars :(

Well the iMac I have was the bigger screen one and it is from 2008. It is a really good machine, minus the number of times I have had to bring it in. Even though they sold me applecare on it last year, they won't replace the hard drive because it is more than 3 years old. I said I had apple care, but they said it still doesn't count because of the fact it is 3 years old.

Once I replace the hard drive, I am going to mount the iMac on the wall in the guest bedroom.

I will use http://store.apple.com/us/product/M...olt-display?afid=p219|GOUS&cid=AOS-US-KWG-PLA this to mount it.

It is a nice 27 inch screen. So why not use it as a Stream/tv/torrent/music/dvd player? I think it will look really good mounted. I will have to get an extension cord behind the wall to run the power cord. I am thinking to of mounting some speakers for it when I have the cash.
 
@Kitteh: Fab does have one in the headgear you described. I have one too in the shako of my berserker barb (same build as Fabian, just a little less optimised). Most likely there are a few others with similar uses of chams. Besides that i saw one in the IFT recently used for pride. Other possible uses are: doom and hand of justice. And cubing up for zod ofc.

On a sidenote: My summoner made another lvl. 95 now. Despite getting good runtimes for the build i still feel slow compared to my previous 99-ers. It'll take a while before i get anywhere near my goal.

Also i found something out that i never knew before. Sometimes (not all the time, mind you) i can shorten the period between spawns 3 and 4. When the councils get there hydras up, usually you have to wait for them to disappear after killing the last of the councils. However, if you revive the councilmembers on the floor sometimes Baal starts his laughing while there are still hydras up.
Not quite sure why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Maybe the boss is still on the floor in cases it doesn't work (as you can't ressurrect him) idk. Curious if anyone else noticed this before.
 
I'm also sitting on a Cham, will probably sit gathering dust until I get another.

I believe frozzzen had a shield on his 99er Javazon which included a Cham amongst other things but traded it away when he got the JAoD. I also remember Greebo talking about putting a Cham in a WF for the hit freezes target, not sure if that happened in the end.
 
I had some time this weekend to play my untwinked sept characters, working on getting the necro through A2 Normal. I've discovered that I don't really like the playstyle of the fishymancer anymore, was fine back when I was learning the game but is too slow for me now. Thinking of changing to a poison nova based build, are they any good untwinked? Will I need to respec or will the ~15 points I've put in Raise Skeleton a waste?

I just meant as a socketable, not in runewords. Didn't realise it was so widespread in SP!
 
I've socketed a 1.13 Shako, a 1.07 Shako, a 1.07 Barbhelm and (I think?) a javazon Shield which has since been lost. I know of a few Cham'd 1.07 Valkyrie Wings, and I know scrcrw Cham'd his sick Rare Barb Circlet. I'm sure there's many many more examples which escape me, it's pretty much the best use of Cham runes. If I was more serious about my Travbarbs (and if I didn't use my Cham runes for my pitbarb, heh), I would strongly consider Cham'ing Guillaume's and Crown of Thieves, as well. Those are still on my to do list if I ever get around to it.
 
After finding a Jah rune last night I've been wondering what the best uses for it are. I guess the most common use is Enigma? But I see other options like 'Dream' and 'Faith' that look really nice too. There are probably other great uses I'm not seeing too. Any opinions?

That's interesting to know. I'd literally never seen anybody with a cham'd item except for your zerker helm!
