Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

Geez, it's been a few weeks since I've streamed. Maybe I can fit some time in this week. On the other hand, who is willing to watch someone look for good racks in LK? lol

I just spent my night cubing gems in 1.14, from my big stash. The only time I had really cubed before is to make pamethysts for caster ammys, so it was a lot of cubing. I ended up with 1,147 perfect gems O.O My wrist hurts real bad, but my mouse precision in game is at an all time high.

Colossus BLADES, not Voulges. CVs can't have more than 4 sockets either.

3 - Crescent Moon (if you really want it on an act 5 merc)
4 - Oath (and from here you can atma bug)
5 - Death (and from here you can atma bug)
6 - BotD

Some 1700 LK runs without a HR now :(. I was just wondering how many runs on average one normally needs to find a HR in LK? Statistically speaking of course ... ;).

Depends on what you consider a HR. Check out the LK tables for the odds at your player setting. Total of 2^16 - 1 patterns with 6 chests per run.

I've gotten Lo and Sur within 10 runs of each other, then proceed another 2K runs without an Ist+ rune until another Sur dropped. Typical D2 things. :)

@T72on1 What are you considering high runes? Like what was the highest you got in that stretch. 1700 is a lot of runs. If it were me, I would be raging.

When I run p8, 20-30s runs, I expect something every hour or two. I mean, pul+. If I put in 8 hours (still less than 1700 runs), I'm expecting to have several high runes. I keep high runes for the day in my stash, muling everything off. Here is a 6 hour session. I just realized that this is a bit of bragging, but also I hope that it encourages you to keep running. Because I LOVE lk.

Here is the result of another farming session I had back in 2012 when I was trying to build my infinity. This batch was farmed (checked dates on screenshots) between 9/4/12 and 9/6/12 over the course of about 24 hours played.

That picture is actually missing a sur rune I found and muled off as well. Sur and Lo seem practically as common as any other high rune from LK in my experience. You can find many runes in a short period of time if you are willing to pass up picking up gems, charms, jewels, and whatever else you might dink around with on the way. I got some flack for doing this because I ignored all items except runes and as some more experienced members pointed out, it takes far longer to get perfect charms than it does to get high runes.

Point is, your luck was bad. Really bad. Assuming you're talking about 1.13/4. I rambled on in this post, and I apologize for it.

For me HRs are Vex and up. I actually thought that those were commonly accepted as being the high runes, but I'm probably mistaking.

So I didn't find a Vex or higher in 1700+ runs. I'd have to check just how many of the others I found during that time, but I did find at least one of Gul, Ist and Mal and several Ums and Puls.

I don't do 20 - 30 second runs though. On a previous map I was rather close to 30 seconds I think, but on my current map there are a lot of other poppables close to each other, so I hit those to, and as a result I only do 100 per hour. Except for the 2 corpses near the campfires, I hit at least 6 poppables, sometimes 7 or 8. Still not sure if it's worth it or not, but they are on my teleporting path, in groups of 2 or 3 (and one I hit right from the waypoint), so I don't loose too much time on them.

Maybe I should indeed focus on runes only. Right now I pick up flawless gems and small and grand charms as well, and the occasional grailer. I also pick up every unique to check if it's ethereal. Obviously this takes a lot more time. Not only picking them up, but also the time spent in town (once every 15 - 20 runs), when my inventory is full, and to cube up gems and reroll charms.

Thanks for the input. And @NorthDakota your post didn't come across as bragging (after all we all depend on the D2 drop gods ;)), and I tend to ramble a lot myself, so your post surely didn't feel that way to me :).

Btw, after reading @NanoMist's post in the 99er thread, about the progress he made, I realized I just have to start running for xp again, and those HRs will drop eventually.

Expectation is 1 Vex+ per ~400 runs if you hit only special chests. With side poppables those should drop more frequent.
Bottom line is, your luck was terrible. You could have found at least 4 Vex+ runes in 1700 runs as some kind of expectation, or even close to 5 if you hit all those poppables. Sur runes alone drop at average once in 993 runs.

Poppables are fine for charms, jewels and additions, but hardly worth it regarding runes. Reason is Sur runes are really out of the world frequent from chests, and poppables just can't keep up with that. I used to not open any poppable, but started to click some just for some fun, not for any sorf of efficiency.

Normally you should pick useful stuff, not just runes. Gems are optional, granted, depending on what will you do with them, but charms jewels and such are just irreplaceable. No better place than LK to pick those up.

@Gripphon Thanks for the reply. Well, actually not, because now I feel depressed ... :(. Nah, just kidding of course. After all periods with terrible luck when it comes to drops are just part of the game.

I surely didn't expect the rate to be so high. I mean, for an experienced runner, that's only some 3 hours of LK for a Vex, 8 hours for a Sur. Ah well, keeping my luck for another time, I guess.

I'd normally agree with you when it comes to LK and stuff like charms, jewels, rare rings ... But for now I just set myself the goal of finding another HR in LK before moving on to CS again. No real reason really, that's just how my brain works ... o_O. Initially I hit LK again in search for a Sur or Ber to complete that Infinity. Now I really want to move on to CS, but can't bring myself to leave LK alone before finding at least a HR.

So I guess I'll only hit the superchests for now, and only pick up good runes. Or at the very least leave gems alone.

@T72on1 leaving gems alone, nooooo... :( poor gems. Poor 45 life skillers, that obviously were not rolled with them!

Btw, has anyone here made a Double Throw Barbarian with rare javelins/axes? How many self-repairing pairs of those one would need to carry in order to avoid going town to repair all the time? I'm slowly building a stack of those, but I have a feeling couple decent pairs is not enough.
Picked also pretty need twinking stick:
Code:
Blood Mar
Throwing Spear
Throw Damage: 19 - 49
One Hand Damage: 8 - 24
Quantity: 80
Required Level: 15
Required Dexterity: 65
Fingerprint: 0xc5697e2f
Item Level: 88
Version: Expansion 1.10+
64% Enhanced Damage
+15 to Attack Rating
Adds 1 - 2 Cold Damage Over 2 Secs (50 Frames)
6% Life stolen per hit
Lightning Resist +9%
Replenishes quantity

Meanwhile searching more, I've already been in progress of building couple rare only characters for quite a while. Quite refreshing if you ask me.

@Grape - Aren't there two affixes for replenish quantity? One replenishes at 5 seconds and the other at 10 seconds. Increase stack size is another option to minimize those town trips, considering how slow the replenish rate is on non-uniques.

Yes, you're right. I'd need to check them and would probably even favor some less damaging 5 second ones. Well, it's just a one build in a line, that probably won't be made in quite some time. :)

Just made an earth-shattering discovery!!!

I knew it was there all along, but never bothered through dozens and dozens of trips down Jehrym's palace. There are two stairwells down to level 2, and the top stairwell drops you in the far-right corner of lvl 2 map. Then its a straight shot, down and to the left, to reach the stairs to level 3.

I've always, out of habit, taken the bottom of the two stairwells down into the palace. This drops you at the far left of lvl 2, a much longer path to the next stairwell down.

Two questions:
1) Is there any way to convert "legacy" forum links to the new addresses?

2) I'm looking for an old (SPF?_ thread where someone took an untwinked venomancer through hell with quite a writeup. I think it was affiliated with one of the level 99 tourneys, but he wrote up a separate thread? He got very decked out, including 3-pc trang, etc. Does anyone remember this thread? I'm currently trying out an untwinked elementalmancer (mages + A3 merc + FG + CE) but may swap to PN if this gets boring and would like to read about someone else who did the same.

Does anyone know if base weapon damage and base weapon speed affect an Iron Golem's stats?

Any links to a good technical discussion/page on IGs appreciated.
