Anything Goes D2 Lounge!

You are better off leveling in Ancient Tunnels or Pits, same are level but much easier and faster, good drops, good exp,. I don't think anyone runs Maggot Lair more than what is necessary for questing, it isn't exactly the most efficient area.

Hang on to that teleport staff, it will come handy in the future. Arcane Sanctuary, Act 3 Jungle etc. get much more bearable. It can be bit pricy to repair, but you can always pick up Ort runes and use the cube to repair your staff.

Yeah.. I need to mule back in a lot of money. Repairing it costs me at laest 20-30k. I will have it in my stash. Thanks !

Seriously, killing is so slow on p8 for summoners that you get way more exp per min on /p1 or /p3. Using amp damage and having a not-useless corpse explosion (on p8 it's way less effective) means way more kills per min

I play on p8 and my CE has 10 yards of range. I wish I could take off my merc that Face of Horror because of the annoying Terror proc but he needs that +str to wear Bonehew.

I make all CtAs in Crystal swords, there is no other option.

My Enigma is in a Dusk Shroud, purely because of personal preference (and I just felt like it). If/when I make another one, it will be in a Breast Plate for those non-spirit monarch-wielding chars to save some strength.

Now for the real reason I'm here. I just finished digging up and reading through the old MF League threads (now all listed in the Tournament Listings), is there interest in running one of these events again? I know the forums are way slower now than they were, but the recent MFO had some good participation, I feel like we could get a decent turn out. Especially if we do it as a hybrid between the regular and mini-MFOs (just run over weekends, or less time per category at least).

I'm not saying this would happen anytime soon, I'm not saying I would have the time/know-how/gumption to host it, but I AM trying to gauge interest in it, even if it isn't until a bit further down the road.

Thoughts?

I'd definitely be interested in such event. And yes, my answer is late, but that's because of being on holiday for 10 days ...

Started act 3 hell with a style ! Now, I have at least +10 to summoning (with about +5 to all skills) ! My skeletons are lvl 30, dealing about 310 dmg per hit. At lvl 30, I can resurrect 12 skeletons ! I'm using mages back again but idk if I will put more points. I am sure I will upgrade summon resist as I will gain lvl 16 (64%). CE is maxed, RS & RM too, even CG is maxed ! Now I could hold these points for more swag but I am not a $wagger so I am putting them just for fun. I am sure I will get a few lvls before finishing Hell so expect IndianaBones' CG with 10k life ! That's a lot of tanking.

Edit: extra style points for getting the Jade Figurine AND an unique item (or 2?) within a minute ( even in the same screen !). Damn, I am cool :D

Hey guys! What is up! It's me, ND.

So I'm leveling my hammerdin. I'm 89 now and I'm looking for some variety runs to get some levels. I've been running CS for funsies (never really did CS runs before) and it's working really great. However, I'm getting bored. Since 89 is not a crazy high level yet, I imagine there is a variety of places I can still gain good exp. However, I don't know very much in general about anything. That is the truth.

So what I am asking of you vets, in your infinite wisdom, is to create me a route that would hit a variety of spots. I have been doing something like this:

Pindy > Eldritchy > CS > Trav > Mephy (with council in there) > AT > Pits > Andy >>>>>> All P8 straight up.

Now, I'm pretty sure that meph and andy are already pretty much worthless exp-wise, but they're there for fun, and I have a few grailers that can still drop from them I think and my MF is decent. I'm getting a ton of awesome junk doing this. I'm willing to leave them out. As a side note, it's the most fun I think I've ever had playing diablo. I had a hammerdin with enigma back in the olden days on USWest when I was in highschool (I'm ancient now), and I only had it for 3 days before a banwave went out, and it turns out that the runes that I LEGITIMATELY traded for were duped, and my enigma was stripped from me. Whatever, I sent an email to blizzard, it was worthless, I felt bad about the whole thing but what can you do.

So anyways, this is my first enigma and I'm having fun. Oh by the way, I built it in a breastplate like all yall said to do and it was so worth it. I put like 8 points in dex for my hoto and shift clicked vitality (hngggggg) and I was set.

I'm an excellent grinder, spending way too much time doing one thing at a time (LK is my gambling addiction). So build me a variety run!! Please. Grip. I need you. Or any of you smart dudes or gals (Pharphy, also, you're my hero) (Or frozzzen) (Or you helvete I'm also looking at you) (I would also accept Maareek).

Also I'm drunk.

Closing to lvl 88. I'm in Lower Kurast. Had some problems with my necro and items but it's sorted out for now. Kinda sketchy and cheesy but I was fiddling with copies made by GoMule to regain the lost +10% MF Grand Charm. Also, got a 5% small one and 1 or 2 +3% resist all small ones. My resists are now 3x75% + 45% (poison). I have even left 85 points in case I find Arkaine's Valor with +2 to all skills. I could make a Um rune and then search for 3 socketed armor for Bone runeword. Much better than Skin of Vipermagi I have.

I have skin of the vipermagi. Thinking about getting Bone RW. Have 2 Um's, can make third with 2xPul's. Very pricey for me and I have crappy armor (weaker than Vipermagi). What should I do? Hunt for better armor? These +2 necro skills are really cool to have and my resists would be still 75%.

The armor itself doesn't really matter as long as you can wear it (low str req).

I would go for lighter armor (like serpentskin) since it will allow you to run faster than heavier armor. Or, just stick with vipermagi as it's a very very good caster armor

It's awesome ! I have 3 os mage plate or whatever it's named. Have the elite quilted armor but it has 4 sockets (a possible candidate for CoH upgrade if I get the runes). Should also run a countess a few times in hope of getting a few um's. Been there once - and it was hard (mostly because of PI ghosts).

(I would also accept Maareek).
Well I'm glad to see I'm the least smart person around. ;p

I'm pretty sure I speak for basically the whole group you listed when I say my variety in the game comes from using different characters on different areas so a variety run for a single character isn't something I've spent much or any thought on. However, it sounds very much like you're just crushing hard on the Enigmadin right now and want to show him off to everybody you know, from the Rogue Encampment across the world to Harrogath, and that's cool, so my advice would just be to run whatever you damn well please that's fun to do.

That said, if you're looking for experience from these runs, the best targets are Chaos Sanctuary and Baal runs (at your level stopping the run after Lister, or maybe even after Ventar, would probably be better exp per time in dedicated runs, but that's probably not what you're looking for.) Pindleskin is a good exp target until you hit level 92, where the more than 5 levels higher penalty kicks in, and alright for 92-93, then decent up to about 95. Similarly Trav drops off harshly after you hit 91, though they aren't great to begin with. AT and Pits are fine up to 94 then slow down up to about 96 or 97, though AT's fairly significant level of magic resistant monsters makes it tough for a hammerdin. Meph is fine if you're okay with his limited drop potential. Andy is 14 levels below you right now; in terms of experience she's effectively useless to kill.

Having talked through that I'd say my suggestion for an experience focused variety run for a hammerdinat your level would be: Pits + Pindle + River of Flame + Chaos Sanctuary, adding in whatever you find fun/want to throw in, but if you wanted to focus on experience per time you could narrow that down to just RoF+Chaos Sanctuary.

Years ago I read a story written by the first person to reach 99 on Battle.net during the 1st ladder season. It was USEast or USWest, it was a Blizzard sorc, and it was a good read. I thought it was on GameFaq's, and it may have been. However, if it was, it's gone now. Some specifics I remember: He found a SOJ and traded it for an ondales. I think he wasn't eligible for the prize because of something to do with his e-mail.

I know it's online somewhere, probably several locations but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about or care to help me out?

Well I'm glad to see I'm the least smart person around. ;p

Is it horrible to say that I wrote that because I knew it'd inspire a reply? Haha you're so funny it's awesome. Love your posts btw huge fan. The level ranges you gave are very helpful, exactly what I wanted. I mean I had a general idea but I was not sure on specifics. I have been watching my exp bar very closely to determine but it's quite a bit of work calcing it all out (got a spreadsheet). I was planning on doing it for each level but I was definitely getting tired. And google searches/forum searches are a huge hunt for fragmented information. I have area level information, and I know that packs are worth more exp, and have higher level than monsters in the same area (right?) but I've never really gotten the specifics down. Since most things are pretty straightforward - like doing runs of something doesn't require knowing all that info. I've generally been pretty unfocused when it comes to D2. I feel like I'm better than the average joe simply from time invested, but at the same time I haven't been able to put in the work to gain the knowledge to push to the next level. Like AT runs take no knowledge whatsoever, I'm great at those. And LK basically just takes FCR and p7 and the rest is fairly irrelevant imo. And baal runs, well I got my lightning sorcy tricked out, there's no real knowledge that's required except gear and p1/8/3 and you're set.

Honestly, this recent bout of playing I'm feeling like I know less and less about the game. Despite the massive time investment. I feel like I don't have the time to really know what there is to know. I feel like there are items that I'm not picking up that I should be (pitzerker helm is a good example of items I didn't know I should be hunting for).

However, it sounds very much like you're just crushing hard on the Enigmadin right now

Yuuup that's what I'm doing. Isn't that the best part of this game? New build, feels great. Honestly I feel tankier and more free than any other build I've ever played. And I've got some builds that crush hard. But this thing man, I go everywhere, I kill everything. The build is so cliche that I feel bad. But at the same time. P8 all day all night every day? Low threat of dying? Yeah. It feels right.

I like to see myself as a cute, helpless, never aging puppy. I am bad at everything, but it's like sort of okay. You know, because my clumsy awful ways are endearing, or something. I am so glad to have yall to raise me right.
