act 2 merc vs act 3 merc for hammerdin

Lately ive seen so many bots using act 3 cold merc to mf in dia and baal (dia-baal-runs) so i began to wonder which of the merc is better....i use act 2 nm merc personally with the standard eq (insight, forty and vamp gaze) but i find it extremely difficult to mf in chaos sanctuary....i even tried the lowest possible dmg insight (i seriously made insight from low to high, vougle to eth cv) but my merc just seems to die all the time there.....so from my experience i changed back to high dmg eth cv insight. (for more ll anywhere else apart from chaos)

I would like some help to see the advantages on the act 3 merc and how it is compare to act 2 merc.

well, if you only chaos occasionally i recommend keeping an act 2 merc and just leaving him dead while you do your CS runs, because act 2 merc with insight is just unbeatable anywhere else but in chaos.

if you wanna chaos a lot, get an act 1 cold merc with ice bow, coh and delirium.
doesnt die from IM and gives great crowd control with HF, cold attacks and terror and confuse curses.
MUCH better than an act 3 merc imo, who doesnt offer much of a benefit outside of chaos and is still inferior to the rogue in CS imo.

act 3 prolly for variery and chaos runs , range merc fairs better there. i've tried several mercs for hdin.. and though different situations may favour a different merc, overall if u're also gonna spin for ubers.. handsdown insight act 2 merc, prayer or holy freeze.

keep 2 insights.. one max damage and one in a very low dmg polearm (ie. crude voulge) for chaos runs. max dmg for everywhere else that doesnt have oblivion mages.

act 3 is nice, because you are not getting swarned by huge armies of knights, and when you doing baals, you are not terrified of dolls running at you with fana + might + other juicy mods on HC mode.

mm.. just a sidenote.. if u run a mb (maxblock) hammerdin with the appropriate FHR breakpoints.. and u have comfortable decent 3k+ hp after bo.. u generally are not afraid of telestomping mass mobs. It usually takes a special combination of mini boss auras and amplified damage curse on you to even drop u below 50%. just some personal experiences.

personal CS experience problems in P8.

when spawning mage, he always got fana, and having lots of uniques and champs mods around him, is terrible, and when 1 of them with convi and you got LR on your head, i got 40 fire res, and i always lose about 1k-1.5k hp with that screw up ( 4k hp after my barb bo lvl 41 ) but when this happens with venom lord seal boss when i got LR and covie from him, i lose about 3k hp before killing him.

and yes, i cant press esc and get my body back.

but that happens rarely ( every 10-20 runs ) so nothing life threatening.

but dia goes down easier then seal bosses XD

advantages of act 3 merc vs act 2 merc in chaos? well, in chaos act 3 merc survives, and act 2 doesnt. that is advantage enough in my book. the act 3 merc can also use lawbringer to push undead away from you and stun them, which makes clearing chaos a breeze. i believe that a cold act 3 merc can provide as much if not more crowd control as a rogue, as he can also use delirium and in chaos I find that the sanctuary aura is better than holy freeze.

After openin the seal. go near the mage and his friends, just near enough to lure them to u. then u move a lil backwards. the melees will move towards u to attack. when they nearly reach u, u tele stomp on the Lord mage. He should be roughly alone at this point in time, and u kill him. By the time those melees run back to u.. they would have lost fanat aura, since Lord is dead.
For Venom lord boss, almost similar strategy. You open seal. this time you move a lil towards the grp. When u are near enough to lure them. u Spin 4-5 hammers, making a hammer field. then move a lil backwards, and spin another hammer field. Keep doin this till Venom lord is more or less on his own, then tele on him and spin.

he is little bit pinped out, and with 4.7k hp he is afraid of nothing any more. just telestomp everything and 23k def rating with 25% dr makes sure he stays a live or takes only 1 rej through out CS.
