accounts closed over botting

You can get one of those and probably a ladder reset as well. At least that's the rumor on mirc. Most of the MH users and botters I've talked to are taking the developments of last night in stride, saying that they knew the risks all along, but still, that's gotta hurt.

I tell them: "Well, if you don't do it, you won't have to worry about it." But do they listen? Nooooo!

I tried talking 3 of them out of doing it. And I failed on all 3 . now at least 2 of them were banned. No clue about the other one. Havent seen him. But wouldnt surprise me if he was to say he had been banned as well

I did hear something rather amusing on bnet channels. One guy was there claiming bots were NOT illegal and that bnet made an exception to the rules when it came to bots.

I have two friends who use maphack and neither were banned. Are they the excpetions or the majority?

Perhaps this ban-spree was mostly after botters.

no, I used only maphack and my account got closed. they were lucky ones. I'm not whining because i knew it was coming. I'm just lucky they didnt ban my cd-key. I'm just going to wait till the new ladder to come back.

I use maphack infrequently, and i've barely used it the last couple of days. I don't bot, but my brother does, so I get "Your account has been closed(8)" sounds fair, Blizzard :smiley: but as someone already said "C'est la vie" now i'll have some time to get better at Halo 2 :jig:

I love the people who always say "I was thinking of buying said future product of yours but now I won't". For every one of these, I bet there's 10 people who look at what was done and say "geee, they seem to care about their games so I guess I will consider their future ones aswell".

Well for those who do bot or cheat and got banned, oh well. We knew the risks and got banned. I'll tell you no one I know got banned for loader though, just mh and bots. Autoaim I doubt got caught also if it was used in conjunction with autoit.

But some people cry and complain about being banned and the rest of us say oh well, play on.

My only issue with this is the time frame it took to get on the ball and fix the lag and gmerc issues. The lag, a lot of it caused by gmerc, is also from widely know dupe methods. I say why did they not fix the damned lag methods and cut off the lag and duped items, instead of banning the maphackers? Whats worse, someone who can see the map on their screen or a duper flooding the market with poofing items and hurting the economy?

my 2 cents. at least we know blizzard is still around...

Because simply making bots not work won't stop the bot makers from just making a new version that does work and releasing it. People will be more than willing to pick up the new version and bot more until that version stops working. This cycle continues forever. However, with the threat of a ban they will have to think twice before trying an untested bot. Even after many people try it and claim it's "safe" Blizzard usually does these once a year ban sweeps which is usually by the time everyone thinks it's "safe."

Both are bad and supposedly both types were banned. They did fix the lag and they did ban a lot of people. Which is good :smiley:

Also I would like to praise the very few who actually don't cry about being banned and accept it. Really, there are no excuses, you took the risk and were punished for it.

I guess it is blizzard's secret what exactly it was that had people banned. I know at least one person that used maphack (not extensively, but still) and that was not banned.

well you would sure think that wud be the case after 75000 accounts got deleted and about 20k are active at one time, id sure think those would be gone wouldnt you?:shocked:

2. lags stopped before the banning took place

did you just pull the number 75000 outta your ***? the number might be 75000 if you add the accounts banned this year to those banned last year.
