accounts closed over botting

I just heard on a game that bnet closed 35000 over botting and was curious if anyone had heard the same or if this was just a rumor
 
It's true. Check out all the whining and crying over on the B.Net forums and jsp.

well its kinda pointless banning him from here really... even if he did bot he can still contribute to the community, give tips etc... also with a banned account its pointless to worry if he was trading cause he cant trade anymore... plus botting wont get u duped items..

also dave confirmed this in his topic 30k cd keys and 35k accounts all banned

You don't have a very good attitude either. The point is these forums don't accept botting. If you have an issue with that you should probably go elsewhere. I don't think anyone was trying to 'hurt your feelings' - just stating what should (and probably will) happen.

Yesterday evening was a global RD in europe.Immediately i felt that there was something in the air...check on mirc...some guys had problem to log on...i thought:ban wave?..i was right.

I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. Just played as usual so when someone told me bnet had banned that many accounts I was shocked. bnet has to have monitored them for days before this. Since I then went to find out that someone who hasnt logged on since this wednesday was banned too. so maybe they just wrote down their names on a list sort of speak and they waited to see how many they got. and BAM!
 
i doubt that... my guess is they just ran a scan to see which accounts showed up using thirdparty softwares and set a program to scan and find all of them and ban them... then another scan to find people who had already been banned once and then use that program to ban their cd keys
 
I'm torn.

On the one hand, cheaters got smacked real good.

On the other...so did I. :(

Oh well, c'est la vie and all that. Me getting the boot is worth it, so long as I took some cheaters with me. :P(Of course, most of you will think I cheat and therefor deserved it..also to be expected)
 
Go Go Blizzard!

I haven't played for a month now, cuz I got bored, but I'd imagine much less lag from all these botters being gone now. That probably makes me pretty rich, too, haha.

I'm curious. If you didn't cheat, then why did you get banned?
 
Wow... first gmerc gets patched, then botters get banned... our prayers are being answered. There is a god!
